Chapter 27:Hell Hound

Rarely, you've only seen him mad. Never angry. Angry was that other side of him where he mind tortures those who pose a threat towards you. But this? Something must've really pissed him off to make him punch a wall without any signs of pain. Timidly, you walk at his side, both on your way to school that morning. That scowl from yesterday didn't leave his face. This bothered you. Worried even. You had to ask.

''Atem...?'' violet eyes side glanced at you in silent questioning. ''You...Are you...'' why was this difficult? You were just asking him how was he. ''...Are you well?'' he blinks at you in confusion. ''Well, yes Y/N. Why do you ask?'' you shuffle your uniform shoes slightly against the concrete, head slightly down. ''You looked real mad yesterday. Furious.'' E/C orbs peek out from H/C bangs. ''...Have I done something to offend you?'' violet eyes widen. Stopping mid step, his arms embrace you into a tight hug. ''No. Never would I direct my anger onto you for you aren't the reason.'' his hand tilts your face up to meet his. ''I was just stressed yesterday. Something from my past has come up and it's what you say; driving me up the wall.'' you smile slightly before frowning a little.

''...It's Bakura. Isn't it?'' Violet momentarily flashed amber. ''Vanin had just told me that he's been spotted here in the city. No doubt looking for that damn item of his.'' ''The millennium ring?'' he nods before tightening his hold on you. ''I won't let him hurt you.'' your eyes widen at that. ''Did he...Was he the one who killed...?'' ''Yes. I honestly didn't expect him to live after the war. Now he's hunting me down.'' His teeth shifted into sharp canines. ''Enough is enough.'' you quickly place a hand on his cheek; amber eyes calming into violet once more.

''What a touching moment. I must say Pharaoh, you haven't changed at all since our last encounter.'' both of your heads turned towards the entrance way of the alley. A lone figure cloaked in shadow steps out into the open, smiling. That made you shiver. That smile screamed madness. ''Ah, and what do we have here? Why, your highness? It has been far too long my dear.'' Atem actually growled, bringing you closer against him. ''You will not touch her thief!''

Brown eyes widen in mocked hurt. ''Now why would I do such a thing?'' the under tone wasn't lost to him, for he was angered beyond the word. ''Ah ha. No more speaking from the king then?'' he was only met with a glare of pure hatred. ''So you're her reincarnation then? I am surprised the wench allowed herself to be reborn.'' ''Your quarrel is with me. Leave her out of this!''

''But that's where your wrong. You see, that little wretch had given me quite the trouble back then. It is time to reclaim what's mine and with it, your blood shall be the beginning of the village you destroyed so long ago!'' This white haired guy was insane! Eyes narrowing, you step out of the king's arms. ''Your anger's at the wrong one! It wasn't his fault!'' There could be no reasoning with someone who's so steeped in rage and revenge.

''This is not the place for this. We'll meet again. I'm sure of it.'' Head tilt to the side, he stares at Atem for a brief second. ''Oh...And how's my son?'' A snide remark was biting at his lips but he held back. ''Still hates you.'' a lopsided grin appears. ''Good. Do tell him I said hello.'' With that, he does a mocking bow before the darkness consumed him once more. ''The bastard...!'' Fists clenched and near bleeding in anger, eyes glowing amber. Not again. Never again.

''Atem...?''

Amber shifted back into violet again. Breathing harshly, he inhales before exhaling slowly to calm himself. His rage would do no good here. Especially around you. ''I swear to you, Y/N. I will not let that filth harm you.''

''I can't lose you again.''
