In a way, it was a good idea on your father's behalf to build that small, bubbling creek next to the house and entrance way. It really gave a calming feeling, near comforting for those who're about to bury their love ones. There were times that you helped as well. Help picking out what flowers would be appropriate for the burial and what wood the coffin should be made from. That sort of thing. Your mother, dealt with the funeral rites, prayers and in most cases, since some preferred it, cremating.

But really? What you adored most was walking through the near endless upon endless rows of cherry blossoms trees that lined the pathway towards the gate. Morbidly beautiful and soothing at the same time. For this small pink petal meant life and death. It was a shame its beauty was only around for 2 weeks before the twigs came back. But you enjoyed every moment sitting underneath one completing your homework or just listening to your ipod.

To you, this was your sanctuary. A safe haven. 'Beauty within death' as your mother always say. It was quiet, serene. Just as it should be, for 2 weeks. 2 weeks well spent.
