I stood in front of the Crescent pack house in the middle of the night. It’s been three years yet the house looks the same with a few renovations. The pack house is now taller and bigger than the last time I saw it with additional plants.
Two guards looks my way with wonder and I quickly notice them lift their head and sniff the air. I watch as they’re body tense up but none of them moved but they watched me with precaution.
Slowly I made my way to them before standing just metre away from the nearest guy from me. “I’m here to see your alpha.” I said politely.
“The alpha is sleeping right now, come back later.” The guy in front of me said, annoyed.
I smirk and said, “Tell him Cherry is back.” At the corner of my eyes I notice the other guy’s jaw drop along with the guy in front of me. “She’s back and getting impatient.”
The guy in front of me nod his head and a few minutes later, lights were flicking on from the pack house and the door bursting open to reveal a barely dress Nathan.
I burst out laughing at the sight as Nathan’s hair sticking out everywhere and his robe was barely tied together showing his superman boxer. “Nice pants.” I tease.
Nathan didn’t say anything and just stood there with his mouth hanging opened. Moments later, he was pushed out of the way and a blurred was flying my way.
I was about to side step thinking it was an attack when I realise the blur was Emma who pulled me into her tight hugs. “Cherry you’re back!” She squeals making me chuckle at her. “I miss you soo much!”
“I miss you too.” I said with a smile.
Emma pulled away to look at me from head to toe before looking like a proud mum and that’s when I caught her scent. I frown and ask boldly, “Did you just give birth?” Emma blushes while Nathan looked at me with smugness.
There were only three reasons a female wolf’s scent will change. First is when she lost her virginity, second is when she mated with her mate and third was when she gave birth.
“When did this happen?” I ask, shocked.
“Last year, they’re six months old next week.” Emma said happily. My eyes widen as she said ‘they’ and she seems to realise my question as she said, “They’re twins. Mitch is older by four minutes and then there’s Mikki.”
I smile and said sincerely, “Congratulation!” Nathan decides to take this moment to sling his arm around Emma’s shoulder. I looked at them and felt really happy for them until a thought accrued to me. “Guys, if both of you are here. Who’s watching the babies?”
Emma and Nathan looks at each other before Emma run back inside the house while Nathan follows his retreating wife.
The Crescent pack was always been a superstitious people. They believe that if you don’t cut a baby’s hair until they are one, they will never get poorly or if you never leave them alone until they’re one they will never be naughty.
I chuckle getting back Nathan’s attention. He looked at me with confusion before it was mask with seriousness. “You have a lot of explaining to do.”
That stops me chuckling and look at him seriously. “I know but can it wait until tomorrow? I’m really tired.”
Nathan nod his head and helped me carried one of my suitcase. “Your room should be ready. Emma always changed the cover every week and she comes there to clean it.”
I felt a rush guilt for just disappearing without a word and rarely writing to them. The Luna pack was always been secretive that’s why I was never allowed to make a phone call with technology being advance there was more chances that they would trace the call and know the Luna pack’s territory.
“Hey, don’t make that expression. We understand why you left and we forgive you for the lack of contact.” Nathan said with a chuckle. I couldn’t help but jump at him to give him a hug which he returned. “We all miss you.” He whispers.
I pulled away, feeling prickles of tears coming soon. Not wanting to cry, I nod my head and lightly let out a chuckle.
Nathan and I fall into one of our comfortable silence. It wasn’t an awkward one where we panic just to think of something to say. Nathan and I stop in front of my room.
“Thanks.” I said, a yawn escaping my mouth.
“Have some rest, tomorrow I’ll show you the twins and we’ll talk.” Nathan said before giving me a pat on the shoulder.
I nod my head and opened my door. My room was exactly the same state I left it only this time, the bed covers were different and there was no pile of dirty clothes on the floor.
With a contempt sigh, I sat down on my bed and look around the room, feeling safe and at home for the past three years. A smile creep on my face and I took my boots of and tuck myself under my soft fluffy cover.
I’m home. I thought just as I drift to sleep.
