Eddie suddenly knocks on the open door, looking slightly nervous and uncomfortable. “Sorry for interrupting but you said you it’s an emergency and I just thought you want to know that the car is ready.” Eddie gave a final nod before leaving.

“We’re not finish yet.” Cherry said through gritted teeth before walking out of the room. I don’t know if I should be glad or nervous but I did what I know I can do. I grab her suitcase with one hand while on the other was mine and walk out of the room following Cherry and Eddie who was walking just a few metres ahead of me.

The drive to the airport was dreadful. Eddie knew Cherry was ignoring me and he tries to make some conversation with both Cherry and I but he was getting practically nothing from Cherry. When we arrived at the airport Cherry just walks off and I took this time to apologise to Eddie.

“Look man, I’m sorry about Cherry. She’s not normally like this.”

Eddie laughs and pats my shoulder, reassuring. “Don’t worry man but good luck.” With that being said we said our goodbyes and I thanked him for letting us stay at their packs.

In the plane, Cherry had tried to talk to me but only got more frustrated when someone tries to interrupt our conversation. After a few more tries, she decide not to bother with it until we got back home but that didn’t mean she talked to me. It’s obvious that it have something to do when I start to ignore her due to my anger and guilt and all I could do is sigh.

When the plane finally land at the airport, Cherry announced that Arvin will be waiting for us at the parking lot. As soon we got in the car, Arvin didn’t miss a beat and started talking. “I’m sorry for pulling you guys off but this is really urgent.” He began as he turns the corner. “The hunters had pushed further in the territory and we have no choice but to evacuate everyone at the eastern area.”

“How bad is it?” Cherry asks in her business tone.

“It’s really bad. They had burn three houses in two nights in a row and not to mention, plenty of them are badly injured during the fire. They’re healing but its taking its time since they are not only physically injured but also mentally.” Arvin said and sighs. “You have to see it yourself, see how much damage they done.”

“Where are they staying for now?” I asked knowing full well that the area are full of elder people who wants nothing but peace and be closer to nature.

“Families and volunteers.” Arvin said as he parks the car. “It’s a good thing they are all werewolves or else we’ll have trouble asking them to move out if they are humans.” Cherry and I nod in agreement. “I’ll talk to guys later, Nathan needs me.”

After Arvin left, Cherry and I walked to her room. I closed the door behind me and look at Cherry who looked nervous. “Are you going to tell Alex soon?” I wanted for her to answer my question before asking something that bothering me. Alex had marked her, the question is did they mate?

Cherry’s POV

“Yes but I don’t know when I can tell him with all the things going on.” I admitted. I watch as Brian hesitates and I open my mouth about to ask what’s wrong when the door burst open.

“Another fire at the eastern area!”Tylersaid before running off.

Brian and I run afterTylerand quickly got on the jeep beforeTylerdrove like a mad man to the eastern area. The fire was spreading and if this keeps up humans will start asking what’s wrong. I pushed back the feeling of curiosity about what’s bothering Brian as I help out put the fire out.

By the time we put out the fire, it was nearly night. I saw Brian walking to the jeep alone and I run after him. “Brian!” Brian stops and looked over his shoulder. There was mixed emotion on his face but I decide to be ignorant about it and run to his side.

“Hey, what did you want to ask a while ago?” I ask as quietly as possible.

Brian scratch the back of his head and I watch as he open his mouth but no sounds came out as Leo and Lee jump at his back telling him that they miss him soo much. I laugh at the scene in front of me with the twins wrestling with Brian. When I first joined the pack, Nathan had told me that the twins were under Brian’s care because both their parents were busy when they were all young. They had a brother bonds that no one can break.

“We’ll talk some other time then.” I said through the loud laughs and teasing. I barely make out Brian’s answered through the twins laughs. Everyone who passes them can only shake their head and laugh or some even stops and watch for a bit.

When we finally got back to the pack house, I quickly took a shower and cleared my thought. Trying to forget the things I need to do even for a couple of minutes. Finished with my shower, I dried and get ready for bed but not before covering myself with my bathrobe and going to Nathan’s office.

As I got ready for bed, I was also preparing myself to talk to Alex. To tell him all the things that needed to be said as well as to tell him who I pick and why. I had run through every scenario in my head and practice what I’m going to tell him. I was ready or I convince myself that I’m ready to tell him.

The sooner he knows the better.

I knock at the door and slowly opened it to see a tired Nathan and Arvin. “Hey.” I said which they nod in respond. “I just want to ask if you know where Alex is.”

“Alex?” Arvin asks surprise but then frown. “I think he’s in duty tonight.”

Arvin looked at Nathan who was looking at a piece of paper. “He is and you are in duty tomorrow night.” Nathan said still not looking up the paper before rubbing his eyes with his thumbs and middle finger.

“Maybe you two should rest.” I said as they looked at me and nod their head in agreement. “A long sleep will be good, you two looked like a zombie.” I joked and the two ruffles my hair and I bet they were too tired to tease me back like we use to do when we were young.

The couple of the day pass nothing bad happened in the pack territory after that. Every morning some volunteer will help out clear the mess even humans. Nathan who the humans thought is the mayor of the town made a cover story that there was a fire the first time it happen and a pipe broke during the fire where some fire-fighter – all werewolves – tried to rescue everyone who got involve in the fire when they break doors and some walls to get to everyone.

But at the outskirt of the forest, patrols runs in high alert and away from the human’s sight. Now that the pack is bigger they have people running patrols all over the pack from morning to night.

The whole pack is in high alert and even though nothing bad had been happening, Alex, Brian and I seem to never cross path since we got back fromNew York. I sigh as I play with the necklace Brian bought me. My shift will be in an hour but I hope that Alex will come home early. We sent a couple of men down to give sign that it’s time to shift but its normally two or three men.

When I saw Lee, Tyler and Nico, I couldn’t help but let out a long sigh before getting off the sofa I was patiently waiting for Alex. But when I find time to talk to him we are always interrupted. Guess fate doesn’t want both of us to talk.
