I woke up from the sound of Alex’s voice calling me while I felt my body being shaken lightly. “Cherry, wake up.” Alex whispers at my ear sending goosebumps all over my body. “Five more minutes.” I mumble burying my face on the pillow. “Fine, I’ll eat all of these pancakes.” He said.
My eyes snap open and quickly sat up only to realise it too late that it was a bad move. Alex’s eyes were focus on my naked chest as his eyes darken and his jaw clench. I pulled the covers over my chest as quickly as possible, calming Alex a bit.
He looks at me in the eye and I can see the lust and need in his eyes. “I think you should get dress first.” He said and I nod as a respond before watching him leave the room.
Quickly, I jump off the bed and gathered all my clothes on the floor, slipping them on as soon as I got a hold of it. I stop in front of the mirror as something caught my eyes; something that wasn’t there before and something that was going to change my life.
On the base of my left neck was Alex’s mark. It was paw print with the letter ‘A’ on the middle. It was still slightly red around the print but the colour was faded dark brown. To human eyes it would look like just a random birth mark but every werewolf will be able to see the print.
I was now his but I didn’t feel like I belong to him and somewhere deep down felt like it wasn’t complete.
“Are you alright?” a voice at the door of the room made be jump and snap my head towards it too fast that I swear I should had a whiplash. Alex stood at the door with a concern on his face.
My eyes averted to his neck but found no mark on his neck. He must have notice where I was looking as he suddenly looks guilty and began to scratch the back of his neck.
“I’m sorry for marking you without your permission but...” He said dejected. “But I just couldn’t control it.” I smile at him which I guess he didn’t expect it as he looks at me shock. “You’re not mad at me?” He asks, frowning.
I couldn’t be mad at him even if I wanted to and it has nothing to do with the mark on my neck but because I knew it would happen. Soon enough I drift to memory lane.
~ * ~ Flashback ~ * ~
“Why do you need to go?” Katrina asks. She was only six years old but she was a smart kid and my cousin-sister. My biological parents adopted her after her parents were killed by the hunters about eight months ago.
Katrina Milles was the second royal family of the Hemmings. Her ancestor was one of the children who married off to a normal werewolf but their offspring found their mate that have the same amount of Hemmings blood.
“Because I miss everyone back home especially my mates.” I said honestly since there was no point on lying to Katrina. She has three gifts and one of it was to detect whose lying and whose not.
“But isn’t this your home too?” She asks.
“It is but that doesn’t change the fact that I miss everyone at my old pack.” I said and close my suitcase. I look at Katrina who was now looking at the floor. I knew it will be hard for her when I leave but deep down I knew she understand that she can’t always depends on me.
I saw her open her mouth but it was cut off by a knock on the door. Katrina looked up while I turn around. At my bedroom door stood my parents, my biological parents.
“Remember what we told you about your mates and marking?” Dad asks too directly. I nod my head. “Remember not to overreact when they mark you without your permission okay?” I nod once again. “They have no control over it.”
I giggle at that and receive a frown from my dad. “Sorry, I know about it. You told me a couple of times and mum told me about you and her.” Dad blushes and playfully sends mum a glare which she returns with a cheeky smile.
“Anyway, don’t forget to visit Amber.” Dad said before giving me a hug. Mum and Katrina soon join in after.
~ * ~ End of Flashback ~ * ~
“Cherry?” Alex said.
“Sorry.” I said shaking my head lightly. “Anyway, I’m not mad.” I said and giving his cheeks a light pat. “Come on, I’m hungry.” I said dropping the subject. Alex hesitates at first before deciding I really didn’t mind about the mark.
I ate in silent, thinking while Alex seems more engross on his food to pay any attention to my lack of appetite.
Alex had marked me just like Amber had predicted, now everything is in motion now. Not too long from now Brian will do the same, my only question now is if Alex mated with me last night or just marked me.
I look up at Alex who was still pigging out on his food and frown. I wanted to ask him but I couldn’t bring myself. There was no other male wolf around for me to know if my scent had changed or not and since Alex had marked me, my sudden changed of scent wont affect him.
Mentally, I sigh and start eating my own food. I knew I need all the energy because I got a pretty good feeling what Alex planned on doing today.
I just hoped I can stop the other events from happening because I can’t lose one of them.
