Alpha couldn't believe what he saw. It was Beta. His other half. The only remnant he has of his brother. He chirped the tune that would send Beta over to his side on an instant.
The aircraft bolted to his direction even before he could finish whistling the tune he knew by heart.
Beta nudged his pointy nozzle to Alpha's cheek as if trying to embrace him in the best way he knew how.
On the other hand, Layla was confounded to see the little hovercraft interact with the weird looking guy from a distance. Its as if her little friend knew this guy way before her.
"You are free to enter. Welcome to the Land of the assassins." Natalia piped in, bringing Layla back from her daze.
"Do you know what that thing is?" Layla asked the guy that is now playfully chasing with the hovercraft.
The man in violet armor, with black dreadlocks and a metal band on his eyes turned to look on her direction.
He was more than astounded to see a woman who seemed as vibrant as Layla. She also wore sonic beam glasses just like he did. Somehow, in the depths of his manipulated, controlled heart, he wished she was just like him--a creation of man, an experiment of science.
He was unsure for the mean part. Was he just a desperate man in dire need of affection? He could not just make every woman he'd see a possible prospect, a candidate for his heart. He isn't that lonely... or is he?
Is he beyond saving? He may be strong and powerful; all his actions may be perfected by men and all the knowledge they had poured in just to create a humanoid who's as invincible as him but he was... lonely.
But can his loneliness be an acceptable feit for him to act human, feel things, feel deeply despite that he is a semi-person?
Layla raised a brow as the man in front of her continued to stare on for a few more seconds.
"I presume you have found your brother, SE702." Natalia said, breaking Alpha's intense gaze. "And may I ask for your name, young lady? Where have you came from? What led you here?" Natalia continued, bombarding Layla with questions.
She massaged her knuckles and rotated her shoulders. Her whole body was sore from the trip she just went on with that tiny floating thing. She then situated herself on a nearby metal bench and decided to tell her story.
"I came from Malefia, the land of gunners. Where Malefic energy is abundant. But it has gone haywire and our sole source of energy blew our realm to ashes. My father died, I am the only one who survived." She replied, taking a deep strained breath; she decided to carry on.
"I was directionless after that. I didn't know where to go. I was determined to fight off all the evil in this world but I didn't know where to start. Until one day, I saw that little thing hovering on a bush. It saved me from a bunch of wolf demons." She said smiling, recalling the memory in her mind.
Natalia nodded, believing every word she said and Alpha's mind was still preoccupied. He was ecstatic to see Beta but he was more than jovial to find out that he has gained back more than what he has lost, he has her now... or so, he thought.
"I see. Are you planning to become one of us? A soldier of light? Enemy of demons?" Natalia retorted, hanging on every word Layla says.
"I absolutely would want to become one of you. But I am a marksman. So I would be behind your backs most of the time." She replied giggling, her lips twitching from excitement.
She was more than willing to kill demons and slay evil beings. She promised herself that. She smiled at the thought of light and peace and order and happiness.
"Are... are... are you a humanoid?" An awkward, jittery voice suddenly batted in between their conversation. It was Alpha; quivering, curious, lonely Alpha.
She stared at him for a long time, just like he did awhile ago and time seemed to stop from then on.
