He was the distant star she always looked up to; always seeming to be in proximity and yet, he was just too far from her grasp. She often had close encounters with him; one where their whispers have somewhat sounded as one, one where their voices sounded indistinguishable from the other. And yet deep down, she knew, she was just his commander general, his right hand.

Her presence is of supreme vitality only at times when her services and agile skills are of need to the monkey king.

Karrie couldn’t help but sigh as she slid the dead bolt of the main entrance of the temple shut. It was past midnight and Sun, the monkey king, was already fast asleep along with his doppelgangers.

It was her task to secure the kingdom as its ruler slept and rested; she was his right hand after all. It was a wonder for her though, how she ended up being some king’s subject.

She knew she can do better than run a kingdom’s battalion, some empire’s army but here she is, doing her daily tasks under Sun’s orders.

She often thought as to why she allowed herself to be ordered around by someone she never ought to know, let alone, have crossed paths before. Before she became someone’s consigliere, she was Karrie, the lost yet potent star.

She was an essential back in her home, Alaghat. She was one of the best marksmen known to her kind.

She was someone’s daughter; some emperor’s daughter before she became someone’s royal subject.

She was someone people looked up to before she became a nobody. Alaghat’s empire, Yasson, was dissolved and abolished right after demons slayed the emperor, Lanno.

The citizens of Alaghat fought hard and long yet they never got their home back and they have grown weak without their emperor.

And though they were hi-tech and their weapons may be advanced, they were outnumbered by blood-thirsty and greedy demons. They have offered a good fight but it wasn’t enough to reclaim their land.

Before Karrie could take in what was happening, the people she grew up with all her life, took their lives right in front of her. Her entire lineage committed suicide one night before the demons completely invaded their empire.

And now here she is, with no family to call upon. All she has are distant memories so sweet, so dark but they are all she has.
She loathed being someone’s slave but it was the best thing she can be after going through such a repugnant past.

If given an option, she would not have accepted Sun’s offer but given her situation, she can no longer be what she was once.

It was a struggle for her at first but as time cascaded along with her existence and memories, she grew a fond feeling towards her job.

And she may not admit it, she knew she had feelings for Sun, the gentle Monkey king who accepted her when she was nothing but a debris of a failed fight.

Sun was not human, he was of course, a monkey. But he spoke eloquently, made precise decisions, devised excellent plans for his kingdom; his appearance was a contradiction to his thoughts, to his mind.

He was an animal yet he thought and acted like a human, an intellectual human even.

Shaking her head, Karrie proceeded to her quarter to harbor a good night’s rest. Even when she had no excuse to miss the monkey king given by the fact that he was just a hallway away, she still found herself feeling that feeling of longing; that feeling of want and need; that desperateness in her heart she cannot further name.

“What the nuts is this feeling?” she whispered to herself as she slapped her left cheek, hoping to ward her silly thoughts away.

She crashed her body unto her bed as she struggled to find a comfortable spot. She removed the rubber bands that secured her long-braided purple-gray hair.

She massaged her humungous feet and stretched it out to relieve it from any form of tension.

With the thought of sleep silently jittering around her head, she took a deep and heavy sigh as she gradually closed her eyes.

And yet even in the silence of the night, in the calmness of her surroundings, her thoughts were racing, plummeting—in pandemonium.

And it was caused by someone she knew she’ll never ever have, let alone deserve.

Tigreal couldn’t help but let out a sigh of frustration as he scratched off a hoard of leech that basked his sword. He wondered as to why such suckers took his sword as an object of its interest when in fact it cannot offer them anything to satisfy their satiety for blood.

When he managed to remove all the leeches, he proceeded to pursue his destination. He heard from an oracle that some members of the dark side have invaded the land of light. He heard names such as Moskov and Alice.

Both names were unfamiliar to him but he knew he has come across such darklings before, let alone fought with one of them. He was just not good in remembering names, let alone those names that belonged to repugnant, heartless beings.

He was aiming to reach the land of the assassins. He wanted to offer his assistance. Since he has no current mission at bay, he realized it would be best to offer his services to the land of assassins, a land that protected and warded off demons in the land of light.

He knows not even one of the assassins that he’ll soon come across with but he knew that they were excellent and dauntless souls; selfless enough to render their lives for the sake of the realm.

Without much knowledge of the road ahead of him, he continued his journey and hoped for the best.
