He was scolding himself along with every step he took. He kept on hearing Kagura's voice, kept smelling her scent when in fact, she was nowhere near him. She is nothing but a figment of his thoughts. He knew Kagura has left him a long time ago, he just couldn't accept that tormenting reality, the horrid truth lurking behind his subconscious.
He massaged his temples and went on his way to the headquarters, this time with no distractions.
But, he couldn't help but look at every single cherry blossom tree he comes across, with profound resentment. He couldn't bare being reminded of her along with his every move.
Every thing he does leads him back to Kagura. She has become the focal point of his actions, his thoughts even if she isn't there to be with him, to give him the love that he has been thirsting for for so long.
He let out a labored sigh and accelerated his pace. He needed to be back at the quarters as soon as possible. He knew Natalia couldn't tolerate tardiness.
He clutched firmly the jixou straps that supported the red vile of Immortality on his shoulders. He could hear the swish and swosh of the liquid every time he took a step.
After what seemed to be an endless walk, he was finally nigh and saw the headquarters from a distance.
He inched the distance between him and the metallic staircase that led to the entrance of the quarter when he heard stirring noises behind the mystic bush that's beside the left wing of the building.
He listened for a moment and then decided to shrug it off. He was tired and feeling grumpy, he couldn't think straight.
He traipsed the staircase when he heard another woosh. He turned around and saw a purple smoke, somewhat forming an outline of a man and it dissipated as soon as he saw it.
He immediately turned around and pushed the red button beside the double steel door to alert Natalia that he was home.
He heard the bolts being opened from the other side of the door. He wished it'd open faster.
One final click resounded across the vast halls on the other side and the door finally gave away. He saw Natalia standing on the other side, with a weary expression on her face.
"What took you so long, Hayabusa?" She asked, not knowing that they had unwanted company lurking behind the shadows of the surrounding flora.
"I'll tell you later. Bring this inside. We have unwanted company. I saw a purple smoke. It must be Moskov. The jury alerted us that he is on loose. He joined forces with that succubus, Alice." Hayabusa said, placing the vile on Natalia's arms, as he pushed her lightly, enough to send her back inside the building.
Hayabusa stepped inside the quarters too and he locked the doors behind him. He activated the anti-quiscent forcefield and set it to cover all of the quarters' compounds.
He knew very well Moskov's style of attacking. He has encountered him countless times in the past. By the will of the gods, Hayabusa has never lost a fight with Moskov.
He went to the vile cache located on the north wing of the quarters. He saw Natalia safely locking in the Immortality vile to a specific vault.
"The jury and the stalwarts alerted me yesterday that Moskov has been wandering around to collect any hero's blood for Alice to feed on." He uttered, determined to explain all the knowledge he has acquired on his journey back.
Natalia sat on a steel block and listened intently.
"The jury elders, Yi Sun Shin and Gatotkaca detected Moskov's presence weeks before he came to the Land of Light. Gatotkaca consulted his oracle and he saw Moskov. Yi Sun Shin has sent out mega crypts to track him. For days, he was out of radar until yesterday, he was seen with Alice in a Moldox cave." He elaborated.
Before Hayabusa was sent out by Natalia to deliver to Saber the red vile of Immortality, he has to go to Yi Sun Shin to fetch the vile. He could deliver the vile back to the quarters all by himself, but Saber has to perform a spell at the top of the Shady Mountain, before the vile can be used.
The Potent spell is a kind of spell that activates the vile of Immortality. And only the mana coming from the Shady Mountain can complement the spell. This vile can be activated in different ways but Natalia chose to do it on top of the mountain, with Saber as the one to perform.
"I wasn't able to get to Saber for I was ambushed by Alice. I know that she cannot go out during the day and I was suprised to see her brave the scalding rays of the sun. I guess she was that desperate to feed herself. " he continued. He could see Natalia's forehead crease into a myriad of folds. He let out a long sigh and waited for his companion's reply.
"I understand clearly, Hayabusa. And it was right for you to go back here to secure the vile. We couldn't afford for it to fall on the wrong hands." Natalia replied, settling for the hasty decision Hayabusa took.
"Indeed, but I couldn't help but worry about Saber. He has been waiting for me for hours I bet. Can you alert him through the hologram beeper? I lost my beeper when Alice ambushed me." He suggested, genuinely concerned of his companion.
"I tried contacting Saber hours ago but he wouldn't answer my alerts. He must have been experiencing a rather sticky situation. If he won't be back before tomorrow, I'll be the one to look for him." She said, ready to brave out the vastness of the realm.
Natalia has been nowhere but in the confines of the headquarters ever since she was assigned to be an Elder of Light.
She would be more delighted to get out of it just for a brief while.
"As you please, Natalia. As for now, we should be wary for our foes are at bay." Hayabusa strongly uttered, his head spinning, full of thoughts pertaining Kagura.
"Very well, you should rest. I would also like to remind you that Alpha has awakened and we have a gunner from Malefia. She's younger than all of us. I suggest you should show her around after you have rested." She instructed, as she turned her back away from Hayabusa.
Hayabusa nevertheless went to his room and as soon as his body unified with his bed, slumber took over.
Natalia went to the surveillance room and viewed all the orbs that surrounded the headquarters. The coast was clear and nothing was out of place, yet.
She stood up, ready to exit the room when her hologram beeper vibrated. It was an alert from Saber.
She pushed the red button on the beeper and watch the ray of light project from it.
She was first greeted by the sight of Saber's face. His face looking grim and annoyed. She almost said something when she saw what seemed to be a purple creature, a woman perhaps, walking beside Saber.
The woman had long, pointed ears and its purple hair was short. The woman from the hologram was saying something to Saber and Natalia couldn't make out the words.
"Who is she?" Natalia asked.
Saber opened his mouth to reply when suddenly, the woman beside him, lifted her left arm and used it to cover Saber's mouth to muffle his voice.
"The name's Karina. I'll be joining you guys." The woman replied, pressing the red button from Saber's wrist, closing the holographic projection.
Natalia could only let out sigh of exhaustion. She couldn't keep up with the headquarter's growing population, and it was growing weekly.
She could only hope that Saber has an explanation that would suffice the endless whirring and tumult of her thoughts.
