"You're not going anywhere, sister." A sullen voice interjected right after Karina promised to accompany her new found friend to his destination.
Karina was suddenly aware of her surroundings; taking in the shadows of the tall trees that infested the very grounds she's standing on.
She shoved aside Saber and thrashed him behind her.
"Show yourself, Selena! There's no point in hiding." She yelled to the endless void in front of her; her sense tingling, crackling with anticipation for Selena, her sister's reveal.
Slowly, menacingly, a somewhat bluish black with a hint of a lavender hue glowed from a nearby elm tree.
"Hello, my dear older sister. Fancy a hug?" Selena uttered, her whole body masked by the foam of darkness she has solely brought along with her; and yet her eyes, her scarlet eyes were evident even in the harsh reign of daylight.
Karina inched closer to her sister and gave her a warm, tight embrace. Selena, responded by placing her phantom arms on top of Karina's shoulders.
It cannot be understood, Karina and Selena's bond. They opposed each other's visions, one another's interests. They were polar but they respected each other. They existed harmoniously, careful of minding one's business while keeping their noses out of the other.
Their goals were never a match but they had this bond between them that cannot be broken by the mere nature of evil and good not coinciding.
"Were you following me? Again?" Karina asked, lifting a brow to her younger sibling.
"You know very well that I need not to follow you. I just know where to find you. But, I guess I can no longer do that as soon as you join their little band of "light"." Selena replied whilst pointing at Saber.
"And certainly, why is that? Don't you support me of my principles anymore." She clapped back, curious of her sister's reply.
"Believe me I do, I just think I can't tolerate the fact that you'll be surrounding yourself with a bunch of wanna be warriors of light." Selena uttered, her words coming out like venom.
The dark eleves perfectly knew how to diss each other subtly.
"Well, try to think of it less often and you'll be fine, mmkay?" Karina retorted, patting Selena on where she figured was her forehead.
And with that gesture, Selena was all at once, nowhere to be found.
Karina mustered out a long heavy sigh. She loved her younger sister dearly but she can't help but internally yell in utter astonishment everytime they crossed paths; she can't believe how she carried herself on her own and how day by day, Selena gets darker.
Saber, who kept his mum the entire time, finally had the guts to exhale, for he was holding his breath the entire time Karina was talking to some bluish orb with eyes.
"That... that blob of air was your si... sister? You must be joking?" He said, surprised by his acute banter despite the awkwardness of their current state.
"Of course that wasn't her original form you idiot! Forget about it and let's be on our way!" She bellowed, struggling to push further back into the deepness of her mind the utter longing, the deep desire that she has to be with his sister, by changing the topic.
Selena was kidnapped by fanatics-- human-like creatures who would thought of themselves as demons-- when they were still dark little moon elves. Selena was sacrificed to the Abyss Devil, a creature of the dark, by these fanatics in exchange for dark energy.
She was succesfully offered to the Shadow Abyss but half her soul remained pure for many have loved and cared for her and that was enought to partially save her from further falling into the depths of the dark.
But as Selena grew old, the darkness inside her seemed to have been growing, slowly pushing aside the fraction of goodness that's left of her.
Karina isn't happy for her sister's becoming but she could do nothing but support her sibling. She tried stopping her one time and Karina ended up hurting them both. The power inside Selena was just too great for anybody to handle that even the bearer herself can suffer the feat brought about by such magic.
Saber kept his mouth shut the entire trip to the headquarters, talking only when pointing to directions and necessary predicaments. He was careful enough not to upset Karina for he knew nothing of her past, to ridicule her for it.
As soon as they got to the assassins' quarters', Saber made formal introductions to Natalia and another hero was added to their small family of valiants.
And in the menace of the world, on the other hand, Alpha was having the best sleep in his new life. His bed was warm. He sprawled out his extremeties to bring them back to life when he heard a loud thud.
It sounded like a body has fallen on the ground.
He got up and turned on his bedside lamp.
It was Hayabusa, lying face flat on the floor, with a pool of saliva coating his face.
And despite having been fallen, Hayabusa was fast asleep, almost seeming comfortable. And with that, Alpha decided to sleep some more.
