I used the subway and a taxi to get to Key Club Cabaret to quit. My stripping days were coming to an end, and it was a bitter sweet moment. I walked in at nine in the morning when nobody would be there expect Eddy, and maybe a few other girls who had the morning shift.
"Tony!" I cheered when I saw him.
"Hey lil girl," he said before pulling me in a hug.
"They got you on the morning shift huh?" I asked once we parted.
"I was bout to beat Eddy's ass when I saw that shit."
I laughed.
"But what are you doing here? You weren't on the morning shift."
I sighed, "I'm here to quit."
"You deadass?"
"I'm deadass. I just quit my other job before I came here."
"Damn first Kayla now you."
"I'm moving to Philly with my man."
"I'll miss you two."
"We'll miss you too," I told him before walking in to now deliver the news to Eddy.
Everything was the same as last Friday when I was here. As I walked, I waved to Jerry, and he waved back.
"This the first time I'm seeing you fully clothed," he called out to me.
"Last time too," I called back.
"Damn you're leavin too?"
I nodded my head before I continued my walk to Eddy's office.
"Hey," I dragged out once I got in there.
He was sitting behind his desk while another girl, one I've never seen, was sitting on the desk counting the money. We exchanged head nods before we went about our business. He lifted his head at me before smiling.
"There's my girl."
I snickered before I sat in the chair in front of his desk.
"What can I do for you?"
"Not much," I sighed.
He furrowed his eyebrows. "Why you say that?"
"I'm quitting."
His once confused face turned into a tired sad one.
"C'mon Cindy I can't lose you too."
"I'm sorry Eddy, but I'm moving to Philly next week, and I can't make that drive every weekend."
"I understand. It's just you and Kayla both in the same week. Next thing I know Rosa's gonna quit on me."
I shook my head with a smile before getting up.
"I'm gonna miss you Eddy," I told him.
"I'm gonna miss you too Ms. Ciara," he told me making me wink at him before walking out.
I decided to walk down to the next block where the taxis were easier to haul. As I was walking through the cold, I was thinking about yesterday's visit with Matt. I told him everything like how I would be moving, and I would soon be a nationwide author. He was a little upset at first, but then realized there's nothing that would really change. He would still be seeing me once a week. He wished me luck with my move and relationship, and promised he would purchase my short story soon. He told me he loved me and to stay safe. I smiled when he told me that because he usually doesn't say that.
The more I walked up the street the more I thought about what had happened yesterday and lapped it with what Kayla told me. She told me the reason why Chris picked her up is because he found out about Kayla's past with Charley. After the night we saw him, Kayla told Chris when we all went our separate ways that they knew each other because of the group home. She never told him that they were ex lovers, but the truth had to come out sometime, and for Kayla it came out yesterday. Apparently, Chris wasn't mad, but he wasn't too thrilled to hear of what they once had.
