Suddenly there was a knock on the door and Haley flinched as she lay in Nathan's arms in their bed.
"Nathan" Haley said shaking him awake
"What hales its three in the morning" he said looking at their alarm clock on the side of the bed
"Someone's at the door, go look" Haley whispered
Nathan got up and put a shirt on as Haley followed him and did the same. She ran to Jamie's room and closed the door and then followed Nathan to the door but stayed a few feet behind him. Nathan opened the door
"Hey" said a drunken Lucas who swiftly turned around to reveal his stream of tears pouring down his face
"Oh Lucas come on inside I'll make some tea." Haley said rushing to the kitchen as the boys took place on the couch
"What happened? Are you okay ?!" Haley practically shouted from the kitchen
"Haley. The baby" Nathan reminded her
"Oh sorry." She said smiling and covering her mouth with her hands
"It's Peyton she said she wasn't going to take that job in California but she just left me a note right now from when I came back from the river court with mouth. She said she's taking the job and that she didn't want me to think it was my fault that she was leaving and more bullshit that I can't really remember" Lucas said raising his voice
" Lucas I'm so sorry." Haley said grabbing his shoulder then passing him a mug of tea
Haley sat on the other side of the couch next to Nathan and continued to listen to Lucas rant when suddenly she felt Nathan's warm touch on her bare leg and them she smiled but she didn't want Lucas to see so she quickly frowned.
"So yeah that's what happened I just don't know what to do she's the love of my life how do I move on. Should I go live in California?"
" honestly Luke I'd just give it some time maybe she'll come back for you and realize what she did was a mistake." Nathan said.
" I guess your right"
"Well why don't you just stay here for the night so you can sober up , I'll go get you a blanket." Haley suggested
After Lucas got settled in on the couch and Haley had cleaned up in the kitchen she went to go meet Nathan back in bed. It looked like he had already gone back to bed so she decided to try and quietly slip under the covers.
"Haley" he said in a worried voice
"Yeah baby" she replied as he turned his body to face hers
"You know she's not coming back right? " Nathan said
"I know but for right now we just need to help Lucas get through this."
"Ok." Nathan said kissing her forehead and then turning around to go to sleep
