Brian walked in and noticablely avoided her eyes.
"Hey there" she said brightly. Man she was a good actress, maybe she should consider a career move.
"hey, I see you got back alright, how are the girls?" he asked as he took off his work gear. It was good to see he had acting skills as well. She immediately had the feeling of being in a rehearsed soap opera on daytime television.
"Good, the enjoyed having me all to themselves for a change" she returned actually proud of herself for keeping the conversation going so well
"and jordan?" he asked tentatively
Ice went through her veins and she felt her stomach drop. "Um well....he's okay....I guess" she said looking down
"what is it?" he asked with concern. After everything he could still read her like a book
"well we had a huge fight and I um well I kind of quit" she blurted
"really? quit? what are you going to do now then" he asked as he sat down across from her.
"well...I really didn't know until I got back and got a message from Joe" she said not being able to hide her excitement
"Joe?" Brian asked and he actually seemed intrested
"Yeah he was under the same management and did a breif tour with Jordan before he took off" Stephi said business like
"and he called you" Brian asked totally confused
"Oh yeah sorry, he broke with the management and is trying to do this on his own and he asked for my help" she said brightly
"so you going to take it?" he asked reproachfully
"don't know, I don't know if I can do all of it myself, I really don't know much about the business" she said with a shrug
"I am sure you can handle it" he said getting up and kissing her on the forehead as he walked by
After that they conviently avoided each other the rest of the night. She was glad not to have to think about the struggle between them. She had just started to wonder how they were going to sleep when he appeared in the doorway of her office.
"Listen, I don't want to be an ass but we need to talk about this" he said holding up an offical looking envelope
"Ok" she said getting up. She knew what those were and to her surprise she felt no emotions  at what they meant.
Life sucked and Jordan just figured out how very bad it did. His life was a complete mess. Nothing had seemed to go right since she left in fact it had gone from bad to worse. The only part that seemed fine was his performances. The fans knew nothing. That was how he liked it. He only did meet and greets when Chad forced him to and he figured he could pretend for a couple of hours to be interested. He hadn't worked or written on new music since she left. He couldn't even go near his house in Orlando. It was too much. Joe had graciously allowed him to bunk in his house in Boston while he was trying to straighten out his life. Jordan looked around his room and was strangely reminded of his days at home. He half listened to the TV as it played in the back ground. He was supposed to have an interview showing today
"You know I forgot how sucky it was to live with you" Joe said as he walked in threw a pile of laundry at the foot of his bed.
"Sorry" Jordan said with out any real apology as he stared at himself on TV.
Joe sat down on the bed beside him "Good interview" he nodded at the screen.
"Yeah I look like crap" Jordan said with a half laugh
"yep that you do" Joe said tossing a shirt at him "but that is nothing new"
Jordan laughed as he stared at the screen. Had she seen it? The questions kept repeating in his mind. He had thought that she might call him or at least let him know something but she hadn't responded to any of his attempts to contact her.
"Do you think she saw it?" Joe asked as if he was reading his mind
Jordan jerked his head around and stared at Joe

"Couldn't say" he said dejectedly.

"Well just try to remember to get your laundry out of the damn dryer when you actually do it" Joe said pointing to the pile of clothes and turning around to go.
"Joe" Jordan called out
"Yeah" he said turning around with a smile
"Thanks for putting me up" Jordan said with a half grin
"No worries" he said waving it off "and besides" he shrugged "its only temporary"
Jordan couldn't help but smile as he watched him close the door. He hoped to god he was right. It had to change. She couldn't avoid him forever. Laura finally told him that she was now working with Joe  and he was furious with Chad for not letting him know. That meant that she was in the business and they were bound to cross paths eventually.
Jordan cell rang.
"Yeah" He said absently
"Good Job today" Chad said on the other end
"thanks" he said as his heart sank. Why did he always hope it was her on the other end?
"We leave for New York tomorrow"
"Yep I know" Jordan said as he picked up a laundered shirt "my maid's just brought in my packing" he grinned
"Joe getting ready too I see" Chad said with a laugh
"Yeah" Jordan paused "have you heard from her" he asked tentatively
Chad sighed "No, just call her" he said with an exhausted tone.
"She won't answer" Jordan said heatedly
"Then quit asking me, I don't know" Chad said the anger creeping into his voice.
"Ok thanks" Jordan said distractedly
He hit end on his phone and just stared at it. He had to keep trying. He just couldn't let this go. He found her number, pressed the call button and he heard the phone ring. He counted the familiar number of rings and was about to hang up when he heard her answer breathlessly.
"Hello?" she said with a gasp
He was so stunned that she answered that he didn't speak at first. He could feel the goose bumps creep up his arms. She had finally answered.
"Hello?" she said again her voice taking on a agitated tone
"hey, you finally answered" he said lightly as his voice shook
"Jordan?" she said with a gasp of confusion
"Yeah its me" he said quietly
"Oh, sorry I was running to grab the phone and didn't see who it was" she said tersely
Was that comment meant to make him think that she would not have answered it if she had seen it was him? He shook his head as his frustration built. She really didn't give a fuck about him.
"I sent you a message" he said lightly
"Really? I am so sorry I hardly ever go to the group anymore, so I haven't gotten it yet" she apologized "It wasn't in the group " he said quietly."I know " she admitted softly.
The frustration rose again and for the first time anger was behind it.
