"Excuse my friend's horrible pick-me-up's." The girl smiles. "You look unfamiliar, are you new here?" I smile and nod, not saying a word. "Well I'm Natalie and this is Lucas."

"I'm Aria," I shortly state, pushing my lips together. I hate to be coming off as a bitch, but I can't get that boy's face out of my mind. The way he looked at me, it's pierced in my memory.

"Want us to help you with anything?" I look past them to the ghost of Jacob's figure.

"Uhm, maybe help me with classes." The schedule is fairly easy to understand  but I thought I'd be nice and make friends since my mom would ask about it later. I get through the first half of my day with no problems. After lunch I have PE. I get assigned a locker and change into the gym clothes I packed.

I walk out and meet up with Natalie, since we have the same gym period. She looks at me up and down before smiling.

"Now I know why every guy is talking about you today."

"What do you mean?" I question, sitting on the bleachers and tying my shoe laces.

"You're practically what everyone is talking about, especially the guys. I don't know, a lot of the new people we get worry about making friends or something. You, you're just relaxed and laid back. I guess that's why people are talking about you." She smiles down at me and adds, "Plus you're hot."

I arch my eyebrows in order to try and understand. Before asking my next question, I see that same tall, brown-haired figure standing in the corner.

Jacob.

He stands there staring at the ground while stretching. He uses the brim of his shirt to wipe the sweat from his forehead, exposing his abs. I feel shutters travel down my spine. I find myself biting my lip, letting sweat build up on my own forehead. My eyes wander his body, taking in his presence. His jawline is so precise, it could practically cut me if I touched it. His biceps are so big, I wonder if he's been held back a couple of years. He has the body of a man and looking at him is practically a sin. Everything about him makes me want him. He's dark yet alluring and that makes me curious. His piercing green eyes catch mine and he stops. His gaze locks with me and I feel my palms becoming sweaty by the second. He bites his lip for a split second before running a hand through his hair. He leans against the wall and raises an eyebrow.

"Aria Winter." I snap my head to the teacher who's been calling my name.

"That's her," Natalie points a finger to me.

"Maybe answer the first time I call your name, hun." She retorts, marking me present on her clipboard. I feel my cheeks burn from embarrassment. I look back at Jacob, who has a devilish smile. It quickly disappears when I see him, though, as if he didn't want me to see it. He hardens his face and walks away, starting his laps.

"Jacob Diaz." Natalie says, pulling at my arm to start our laps. I look at her with a confused look. "He's hot, I know, but don't get caught up over him. He's danger city."

"Why?" I question, slowing down because my fat ass cannot run 3 laps without hyperventilating. Let alone talk and hold a conversation.

"He went to jail or something like sophomore year, it was ugly. He's just ... scary. I mean in a hot way, maybe, but definitely nobody to be messed with." I take in her words while catching glimpses at Jacob. His face is solid and expressionless. He runs with his eyes down, training the ground. He's fast, but somehow manages to still keep his distance from me. Do I stink or something?

"I know, weird right? A lot of girls are interested but he doesn't pay attention to many of them." She pauses to catch her breath as sweat builds on our bodies. "Except Courtney; that's his kryptonite." She points her head straight ahead to a girl a couple feet in front of us. She has long blonde hair that sits in curls. She strides with confidence and that alone is enough to almost envy her. She's talking with a boy, much taller than her, and her smile is almost contagious.
