I haven't called Jacob since the night he was in my room. He hasn't been at school, either. For a while I think I scared him away. Unlike the night of the party, I remember everything clearly this time. He was so close to kissing me, and there's no denying that I wanted him to. Everything about him makes me want to say yes. To others he's big and threatening, but I caught a different glimpse of him. He was a normal boy who wanted me, and I wanted him too.
Saturday night rolls around and I'm starting to regret not accepting the invitation to hang out with Natalie and Lucas. I've been so out of it, I don't even know what I was thinking. My mom's gone for a 'wife of soldiers' retreat and the house is pretty empty without her.
I pull my phone out my pocket and go to Jacob's saved contact. I stare at the number for a moment before pressing the call button. It rings a couple of times before the other end picks up.
"Hello?" I hear his deep, familiar voice.
"Hey, uhm, it's Aria." There's some shuffling on the other end before he answers back.
"Hey, you." He says and I can practically envision his sly, cocky smirk.
"Were you busy? I can call back later if you want."
"No, what's up?" He sounds ... different. He doesn't sound sick, which makes me wonder why he hasn't been at school.
"Nothing, I just thought I'd call since I didn't earlier. I was wondering if you wanted to, maybe, come over." I immediately regret saying these words. It's getting late and he might get the wrong idea. "You don't have to." I add, trying to make myself sound less needy.
He laughs on the other end. "Sure, should I come to your window or your front door."
I laugh and respond, "The front door is fine."
"I'll be there in about 30 minutes." He says, then the line goes dead. I feel a flutter in my heart as I look around my house. I change out of my pajamas into some grey Nike joggers and a plan white t-shirt. By the time I straighten things up, the door bell rings.
I run to the door and answer it. Jacob stands in my doorway, smiling down at me cockily. I step aside and let him in.
"Nice house," he compliments, looking around my house. I close the door and smile. His hair's a bit messy, which makes me think he's been sleeping. He's wearing a black v neck, which sculpts his muscles perfectly. His black jeans are wrapped around his lower half perfectly. He turns around and looks at me with a raised eyebrow.
"Uhm, thanks. Want a tour of the house?" I stutter, trying to keep my composure. He nods and waits for me.
I walk throughout the house. I show him my kitchen, living room, and guest bedroom. My mom's door is closed and I leave it that way. There's nothing but a bunch of papers and wine stains. I explain how the basement is set up, but I don't take him down there. I go to my room and open the door. I walk in a couple of feet and look around myself.
"You've already been in here," I joke, smiling to myself. I turn around and run right into Jacob's chest. He holds both sides of my doorframe and looks down at me.
"Aria." He says my name so seriously, sending shivers into my spine.
"Yes?" I answer, mouse-like.
"You think if I tried what I tried the other night, your mom would interrupt it again?" Jacob whispers, staring down at my lips intensely the whole time.
"Uhm," I bite my lip and get a glimpse of his mouth. His lips look soft and puffy. He licks them and I stare as they glisten slightly.
He takes my face in his strong hands and presses his lips to mine, taking the breath out of my lungs. I freeze, but slowly start to kiss back. His breath is cold against my mouth, and he pulls away slightly. I lean into him more, smashing hard against his lips.
