Chapter 21

Tell me that Jace would be in the middle of the gym with the football team behind him, each of them holding a piece of paper, and I would've laughed at you. That is just plainly absurd but it's really happening.

I pulled Ash with me to sit on the benches but I froze on my spot when I heard him mention my name on the microphone.

"Chelsea, this might sound cheesy--hell all of these look cheesy-- but I just want to let you know that I know I was a dick." Jace paused when the crowd muttered words of agreement.

"Alright guys, I know it. Anyways, Chelsea, I know I'll be asking too much to ask you to forgive me. I'm not here for that. I just want to say sorry." And with that, he slowly walked towards me.

I did not realize I've been grinning like an idiot until I felt my cheeks hurt.

"I'm sorry." He said again. I suddenly had the urge kiss him right here, right now for the sincerity in his voice.

"You still have an explaining to do." I tried keeping my voice cold but I obviously failed.

Jace beckoned the football team to raise the papers in their grasps. I leaned closer to read the words more clearly. I chuckled lightly when I noticed that Kale's paper was upside down.

It reads "Runaway with me". I don't even know what he means. Jace started counting from one through three and he pointed his pointer finger to the gym doors. "And three."

"What is this?!" We heard a booming sound from the doors and there stood the principal with his glorious shining bald head.

"Thanks everybody! Now let's run!" Jace yelled in the gym. The gym is in chaos, students running and teachers yelling.

Jace held his hand out for me and I took it hesistanly. It took all of my willpower not to kiss him. I had been deprived of Jace's touch and I will savor this moment. Call me desperate but I just like him. A lot.

He flashed me a cheeky smile before dragging me out of the gym. We ran our asses off like no dilemma has come in our way. His apology cleared the short-term boundary between us and he made me like him a lot more.

I saw his car coming in sight. How I missed sitting inside that jizz-stained car and inhale his lingering manly smell. I sound like a freak, don't I?

"Where are we going now?" I asked. Some students were also heading to their cars. Jace had officially postponed school. Can he get any cooler? Did I just compliment him? I won't say that in front of him. That will inflate his massive ego.

"Just watch." He smirked before revving up the engine. I turned my head to the window to hide the smile on my face.

I blocked out my thoughts as I stared at the familiar scenery we were passing. It was the way to the beach. I was lost in my own tranquil thoughts until a question popped in my head.

"Hey, I thought the faculty ordered us to report to the gym? Why was the principal mad?" I said.

"Oh, that? My answer will be quite long." He took a short glance in my way. I nodded at him, telling him to spill it. He took a big intake of air and said, "The teachers were having a meeting in the faculty and I locked them there. Don't ask how I did it. I also told the janitors and the guards that the non-teaching personnels should be in room B-206 and, again, I locked them there. The voice on the intercom was Wendy's."

To say I was flabbergasted was an understatement. He did all of that for me? The butterflies in my stomach started a mosh pit. I smiled at the odd familiarity. I did not know it was possible for a person to feel this feeling several times in a short time of being with the person who causes it.
