Chapter 15- Meeting Ashley

"Am I over dressed?" I ask Jace as we sit in the limo.
He looks at me and laughs, "Trust me, you look perfect."
I nod, and look out the window.
Our limo soon approaches a huge building.
It's very fancy looking; it has a huge fountain, gold swirls on the doors, and the staircase to the entrance is white.
"Aspen?" He says.
I turn and look next to me, and see Jace is outside already opening the car door for me.
"Come on." He says while taking my hand.

We walk in the ballroom together holding hands.
I look at all of the people around me, and Jace was right. Some people here are way over dressed.
"That's my cousin." He says while pointing to a man talking to a crowd of people.
"Are we going over there?" I ask.
"Nah, he looks busy."
He leads me through the crowd, and we go to a small group of people.
"Mom." He says.
A woman turns around and smiles at him. She has dark brown hair, a black evening gown on, and is wearing a lot of pearls.
"Jace, I missed you so much." She says while hugging him.

I just stand behind him, and I feel very awkward right now.

"Mom, this is Aspen, my girlfriend." He says.
The lady looks at me and smiles, and shakes my hand.
"Jace was right, you're very beautiful." She says.
I glance at Jace, and see a bit of pink on his cheeks.
"Thank you. It's great to meet you Mrs. Johnson." I say.
"Please call me Kelly." She says.
I nod at her.
She excuses herself, and then it's just Jace and I.
"I thought you said she was rude." I say.
"Only to people she doesn't like, so I guess she likes you." He says while smiling.

A lady comes up to us, around our age.
"Hey Jace." She says.
"Hey Ashley." He says.
Ashley has platinum blonde hair, tan skin, and blue eyes. Basically everything a guy wants.
She completely ignores my presence, until Jace introduces me.
"This is my girlfriend, Aspen." He says with his hand in mine.
She looks at our hands, and back at me.
"Yes, I heard." She says.
We shake hands, but she lets go quickly like she doesn't care. She turns her attention back to Jace.
"See you later?" She asks.
He nods.
She smiles at him and walks away.
I look at him, waiting for him to explain.
"That's one of my best friends." He says and I nod.
"Wanna dance?" Jace asks me.
I look at the dance floor, and everyone is slow dancing.
"Sure." I say.

He holds my hand and leads me to the dance floor.
He puts his hand on my waist, and I put my arms around his neck.
"Are you still nervous?" He asks me.
"Not anymore." I say while smiling.

We have been dancing together for 3 songs now, and I don't want to stop.
"Okay, so would you rather live forever, or have unlimited money forever?" He asks me.
"Hmm, money." I say.
"Really?" He asks.
"If you live forever, you never know what the future holds. For all we know, the future could be horrible." I say.
He nods, "That's true."
He's about to say something, when someone taps his shoulder.
It's Ashely.

"May I have this dance?" She asks him.
He looks at me, and I nod.
"Go ahead." I say.
I'm about to walk away, when someone taps my shoulder.
I turn around and see a gorgeous human being.
He has blonde hair, tan skin, and big blue eyes.

Jace is cuter though.

Wait, did I just think that?

"Want to dance?" He asks.
I nod, and we dance together.
"What's your name?" He asks me.
"Aspen."
"I'm Landon." He says.
"So, how do you know Jace?" He asks.
"I'm his girlfriend." I say.
He nods, and looks back at Jace.
"I'm guessing you met Ashley." He says.
I turn around and see Ashley and Jace laughing.
"Yeah. Do you know her?" I ask.
"Unfortunately, she's my sisters best friend." He says.
"Is she that bad?" I ask.
"Well, a year ago or so, she kissed me and I tried pushing her back, but I was too late. My girlfriend saw us, and dumped me."
"I'm sorry." I say.
"It's fine."

"Jace and her may be best friends, but I would keep an eye on her." He says is a low voice.
