Chapter 31- Lizzie's Story

"How'd you get my number?" Jace asks Ryan.
Ryan looks at the cashier behind him, and whispers to Jace and I,
"Relax, it was a fake number."
"Really? You did all of that, for an apple pie?"
Ryan smiles and nods at us.
"Sir, here's your apple pie." The lady says.
Ryan grabs it from her, "Thanks."

She looks at Jace and smiles, and I give her a dirty look. She quickly looks away, and we leave to the table where everyone is.
Everyone is talking and laughing, and we enjoy the rest of our night.

My phone beeps, and it's from Jace.
"Coffee?"-Jace.
"Sure, where do you wanna meet?"-Aspen.
"Cafe near the hotel."-Jace.
"Be there soon."-Aspen.

I throw on a t-shirt and jean shorts and put my hair in a messy bun.
The cafe isn't far away from me, so I decide to walk there.

"Hey." I say as I walk towards the table Jace is sitting at.
He gets up, and pulls out the seat for me.
"Hey. So I wanted to talk to you about something."
"Okay?" I say.

"Well, someone told me there was a fight at the race the other night. And they said it involved one of your friends.."
I nod, "Yeah, it was between Chase and Ryder."
"What was it about?"
I hesitate about telling him that it was about my sister, but I feel like I can trust him.

"Uh, it was about my sister." I say.
"Oh, you have a sister?"
"Had." I correct him.
He looks down for a second, then looks back up,
"I'm sorry for your loss."
He reaches his hand out, and holds my hand.

"Ryder said a comment about her and Chase got really angry, and that's how the fight started."

My phone beeps, and it's from Anna.

"We still hanging out today?"-Anna.

I look up, and see Jace looking at me.
"I have to go, I promised Anna we would hang out. I'm sorry." I say.
He nods, "It's okay. Hopefully I'll be able to see my beautiful girlfriend later?" He asks.
I laugh, "Where?" I ask.
"I was thinking we could have a night in, and watch movies?"
"Sounds good. Bye." I kiss him on the cheek, and leave.

Jace's POV:
I'm at the hotels front desk filling out papers when
my phone goes off, and it's from an anonymous number,

"Come outside, we need to talk. I'm by your car."

I look out the window, and see three people by my car.
Curiosity gets the best of me, and I need to see what they person wants.

"I'll finish these papers soon." I say to the receptionist.
She nods, and I quickly go to my car.

"Hello?" I say.
They turn around, and I see Ryder, Claire, and Ashley.
"What do you want?" I ask again.
Ryder looks at me,
"To tell you that she's not the right girl for you." He says.
I sigh, "Aspen is the perfect girl for me."

"Are you sure?" Ashley asks.
I roll my eyes at her, "She's clearly better than you."
She clenches her jaw, and looks at Claire.

"You won't think she's perfect after what we tell you." Claire says.
"Tell me what?"
"About Aspen's sister." Ryder says.
"She already told me about her sister, and she also told me you made a comment about it." I say as I glare at him.
He looks down at his shoes, "Yeah, and I've already gotten punched, so I don't need to get punched again."
