Chapter 22- Phone Calls

We park in front of the restaurant, and Jace opens the car door for me.

"Thanks for taking me to dinner." I say as we sit at our table.
"Anything for my 'girlfriend'." He says while smiling.
I feel awkward sitting here, considering the fact that I know his secret.
"So, I'm having a party at my place this weekend. You can bring your friends." He says.
"Sounds fun." I say.

"So how are Justin and Ryan?" Jace asks.
"I think they're good. Ryan doesn't talk about him much." I say.
"Justin was excited about meeting Ryan." Jace says.
"So, how's Claire doing?" I ask.
He looks up at me, "I don't know. I haven't heard from her since we started dating."
"That's good." I say.
"Yeah, she was quite obsessed with me." He says while laughing.
I laugh too, and we enjoy the rest of our night.

Jace drives me home, and he walks me up to my door.
"I had fun tonight." I say.
"Same here."
We hold eye contact, and he starts leaning in, and I do the same.
Our lips are about to touch, when his phone starts ringing.
He grabs his phone, and answers it quickly.
"Okay. I'll be there soon." He says while looking at me.
He hangs up the phone and sighs.
"I'm assuming that was Ashley." I say while looking down at my feet.
He sighs, "Yeah. I gotta go."
He kisses me on the cheek, and hurries to his car.

"Ashley is such a cock block!" Ryan yells after I tell him about what happened.
"Isn't this the second time she interrupted you guys from kissing?" Anna asks.
"Yeah." I say.
"I think she has a crush on Jace." Chase says.
"Oh you don't say." Ryan says sarcastically.
Chase flips him off, and goes back on his phone.
"Well, we already know where they're going." Anna says.
"Should we go back there?" Chase asks.
"And risk getting seen by him? No way." Ryan says.
"Um Aspen. You might want to see this." Anna says while handing me her phone.

Also, I read a comment saying that Aspen is being nosy and possessive over Jace...

Okay, put yourself in Aspen's shoes.
She's 'dating' Jace, and every time they're hanging out, Ashely says that she needs Jace and he ditches Aspen to go with Ashley.

I don't know about you guys, but if my 'boyfriend' kept ditching me to hang out with some other girl... I'd be getting nosy😂
