Chapter 19- Pineapple Pizza

Today is the day of the dance, and Ryan insists on doing me and Anna's makeup.
Jace and I have been texting a couple of times, and things have been going good.

I'm sitting on my bed going through my Instagram, when I become curious.
I look up Ashley's Instagram, and start stalking.
My eyes scan her profile, and I see a photo that catches my attention.
I click on the photo of her and Jace each sitting with each other at a restaurant.
I look at the caption, and I clench my jaw.
"Great day, with my favorite guy."

Who the fuck does she think she is?

I look at the comments, and see that Jace replied,
"Had fun, you're a great friend."

I continue to look at her profile, and see another picture of her and Jace.

I'm not sure where they are in the picture, but I look at the caption,
"Had fun watching you tonight!"
Watching?
I don't know what she means by 'watching', but I decide that I have done enough stalking for the day.

I go down to my living room, and sit on the couch and watch tv.
I decide to order a pizza, and invite Anna over.
She comes quickly, and we figure out what toppings we want.
"Pineapple." I say.
"Ew, no. Pineapple and pizza together is a big 'no-no.'" Anna says.
"But it's so good!"
"Fine, half pizza and half pepperoni."
I nod, and order the pizza.

"How can someone come up with these great movie ideas?!" Anna yells.
We're currently watching 'Ratatouille'.
"I don't know, but I appreciate them." I say.

Our door bursts open, and Anna and I quickly jump behind the couch.
I peep my head out, and see Ryan standing there.
"What the hell Ryan?!" Anna yells.
"Did you see what Jace posted?" Ryan asks.
"No."
"Go check!" Ryan says while taking a slice of our pizza.
I grab my phone, and pull up Jace's profile.
"Woah."
"What is it?" Anna asks.
I show Anna the picture of Jace and I together that the paparazzi must've took, and read the caption out loud,
"Can't wait to see this gorgeous girl tonight."
Ryan practically faints out of his seat.
I'm about to exit his page, but Anna stops me.
"Look at what Ashley posted."
I look at her post, and bite my lip.
"Can't wait to see all of these amazing people tonight."
The picture is of her and all of the guys: Matt, Landon, and Jace.

"Forget about her. Jace called you gorgeous!" Ryan yells.
"He's just acting." I say as I plop down next to Ryan.
"But tonight, when he sees you in that dress, he won't be acting." Anna says.

We invite Chase over, and we all get ready for tonight.
Ryan does Anna's makeup first, and then mine.
I put my hair in loose curls, and then put on my dress.
Anna comes next to me, and we both look at ourselves in the mirror.
"Who would've thought that we would be going to a fancy party, with the Jace Johnson?" Anna asks.
"It's all because of the plan." I say while smiling.
We hear the doorbell ring, and we hurry downstairs and see Jace waiting for us.
I look outside and see the limo, and everyone is sitting in it waiting.
"You look beautiful." Jace says as he leads me to the limo.
"Thank you." I say.
When we get in the limo, I see Ashley giving me a dirty look.
Chase, Anna, and Ryan also get in the limo.

"Who invited him?" Ashley says while looking at Ryan.
"Who wouldn't invite me?" Ryan says while smirking at her.
Ryan looks at her dress, and sighs, "That is so last year." He says while looking at her dress.
"Shut your mouth." Ashley says.

Ryan looks at her, "I'll shut my mouth, when you shut your legs."

We get to the building, and Jace and I walk in together.
I see Anna and Matt walking together, and I see that Chase has already found a girl.
I see Ryan, and he looks like a sad little puppy.
"So, do you have any friends for Ryan?" I ask Jace.
He looks down to me, "Oh yeah. Ryan! Over here."
Ryan walks over, and Jace goes to get his friend.
He comes back with a gorgeous man.
He has light brown hair, and pretty green eyes.
"Ryan this is Justin, Justin this is Ryan." Jace says.
They shake hands, and I see Ryan blushing a little.
They walk away together, leaving Jace and I alone.
A slow song comes on, and Jace looks at me.
"Wanna dance?" He asks.
"Sure."

He leads me to the dance floor, and we dance with the music.
We hold eye contact the whole time and every time he looks at me, I get butterflies in my stomach.
I keep thinking to myself, maybe he likes me.
But deep down, I know he's just acting for the public.

The music stops, and another slow song comes on.
Jace looks at me and smiles. He starts leaning in, and I do the same.
We're close together, and our lips are about to touch.
"Jace." I hear a familiar voice say from behind him.
We turn around, and see Ashley standing there with a phone in her hand.
"We have to go. It's important." She says.
He looks confused, then looks at me.
"Oh. I'll be outside soon." He says to her.
She nods and walks away.
Jace turns his attention to me, and he sighs.
"Where are you guys going?" I ask.
He clenches his jaw.
"I... I can't tell you. It's important and I have to go."
I look down at my heels, and nod.

He puts his hand under my chin, and lifts my head up so that I'm looking at him.
"I'm sorry." He says.
He walks away, and I watch him leave.
