Chapter 42- The Red Light

"I-um.." Chase says as he stutters.
"I hope you guys didn't do anything else on my couch." I say.
"Aspen!" Anna groans at me.

"I thought you had a boyfriend?" Ryan asks Anna.
She shakes her head, "It wasn't working out."
"And what about you?" Ryan asks Chase.
"I broke up with her."
Ryan sighs and plops down in a chair, "No offense Chase, but you're kind of a 'man-whore.'"

Chase scoffs, "Just because you say 'no offense', doesn't mean I won't take offense to it."

"So, are you guys dating?" I ask.
They look at each other, "He asked me out yesterday. I didn't want to say anything yet." Anna says.
"Are you upset?" Chase asks Ryan and I.
I shrug, "I'm not."
Ryan smiles, "I honestly have been shipping you guys for a while now."

Ryan's phone beeps, and he checks it quickly.

"My friend, Carson, is having a party tonight. You guys coming?" He asks us
"Yeah, what time?" Chase asks.
Ryan looks at his watch, "It starts in about 2 hours."

Anna and I jump up quickly, "We should get ready now."
"Why? You have 2 hours till the party." Chase says.
Ryan laughs, "Is he being serious right now?"

"When are you picking me up for the party?"- Aspen.

I put my phone down as I wait for Jace to reply.
I finish putting my hair in loose curls, and I go to my closet.
It's chilly outside, so I wear a burgundy sweater, black leggings, and burgundy wedges.

My phone beeps,
"I'm almost at your house."-Jace.

I look at my outfit one more time, and give myself a nod of approval.
I grab by purse, and walk out.

"Is Jace about to be here?" Anna asks me.
"Yeah. Is Chase driving you to the party?"
She nods, "We're gonna go leave now. See ya at the party."
"Bye." I say as they both walk out.

"Wait! You guys forgot about me!" Ryan yells as he runs down the stairs trying to catch up with them.

"You look great." Jace says as he looks me up and down.
"I wish I could say the same about you." I tease.
He gasps, "Ouch. That just bruised my ego."
I laugh, and he opens the car door for me, and I get in.

"When can I drive your car?" I ask as we stop at a red light.
"I don't want anything bad to happen to it."
I raise my eyebrows, "You think I'm a bad driver?"
"No, of course not. I don't let anyone drive this car, but me."
I look at him with sad eyes, "What about me?"

He thinks for a second, "Alright. I'll take you to drive it tomorrow."
"Yay!" I lean in to kiss him on his cheek.

"This red light is taking forever." I say as I get on my phone.

Jace lets out a sigh of relief, "It's finally green."

My phone beeps, and I get a text from an unknown number,
"I warned you."

I hear a loud noise. I look to my right, and see a car coming full speed at us.

"Jace!" I scream before all I see around me is glass, and blood.
