Overtime

Dei was wide awake on her bed that night. Still recalling what Jay has told her earlier, she buried her face on her pillow and closed her eyes tight.

I love you, Dei.  I really do.

I didn't even have the strength to answer him back.  I was overwhelmed with emotions that I just hugged him tight and cried.  He just let me and tried to console me with words.

It's okay, babe.  There's no rush.  I love you.  And I know you do too.  I'll be right here when you're ready to say it back.

We stayed that way for a while. Me silently crying, my arms around his neck.

The night ended with me having puffy eyes from crying when Jay finally drove me home.  And now she's in bed but sleep seems to be the last thing she has in mind right now.

Her thoughts were halted when she heard her phone ping, alerting an incoming text message.

Five seconds later, Jay was calling me. I just smile and ignored the call. I closed my eyes and let the feeling consume me.

There are still doubts in my mind but I can't let those dictate what I feel. I'll just put on my big girl pants and face this head on.

Jay loves me. Yes, he does! I let out a laugh when the realization kicked in. Yung kilig ko, hindi makatarungan. I grabbed my pillow, put it on my face and screamed.

I grabbed my phone and saw Jay's five missed calls and a couple of messages.
