Spending the summer with my mother wasn't something I'd imagine to be fun... but it's like I was spending time with myself. She was fragile, and yet loud. Funny too.

No I'm not talking about myself.

Leaving her was the hardest part,

"Mom, I had a great time." I smiled hugging her

"I did too Em. Maybe you could come over some other time, soon though."

"Of course, "I kissed her cheek.

She hopped back into her car shortly, and drove away. I waved at her, and then someone else caught my attention.

A shirtless Cameron Dallas, who was walking in my direction smiled at me. All of my friends only spoke to me once or twice during the summer. That also includes Austin. I decided to give up my phone in the summer so that I could fully immerse myself into spending well deserved time with my mother. It was painful in the first week, but I eventually got over it.

"Hey Emma!" He ran towards me, embracing me completely.

"Oh. Hello" I chuckled to myself.

"Hey I got something to show you, would you mind coming over?" He held his thumbs up in the direction of his house, and smiled hoping that I would give in somehow.

"Okay?"

And what I assumed it would be, a surprise party. All my friends bursted with a loud "Hello" behind various pieces of furniture. I laughed as, Katie butt heads with Austin as they came up.

"Babe!" He yelled running towards me. I didn't waste time, and connected my lips with his. Austin withdrawal was something that I was never too good with handling. He embraced me tightly, and Katie ripped me out of his arms to get a piece of me.

"Girl I missed you too much." She took me into her arms, gently rocking us back and forth. I couldn't deny that the feelings were mutual as I've missed my best friend so much. Maybe even more than Austin.

"Wait.. where's Sebastian?" I asked, missing my other guy friend.

"Well.... about that." She began, then started scratching the back of her head.

"Hmm?"

"I'm with Cameron now.." she blushed.

"Oh." I feel like I've missed too much.

I didn't bother to ask her why he wasn't here, and I assumed it's still too awkward between them. The warm welcome home definitely made my day, and maybe this was the cherry on top to my delightful summer.

But then there was school in a week.

I dreaded the thought of seeing everyone I hated once more, and I'm beginning to think that senior year may be more difficult than ever.

"Baby," Austin breathed in my ear, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind.

"How may I help you?" He giggled.

"I'm so glad that you're home, I've missed you too much." He kissed my cheek and I practically melted in his arms.

"Maybe you could come over for dinner tomorrow night?" I offered

"That sounds delicious." He laughed. He was an angel, who's gotten even hotter may I add.

Soon, after a short while more people started piling into the house, unaware that it was supposed to be a small home coming party. I looked for Cameron and he was no where to be found within the bustling house. I felt like leaving until my eyes locked onto Grey's, he smiled almost shyly before making his way over to me,

"Hey..Emma," Grey started, casually scratching the back of his head.

"Hello..." my eyes met the floor and then back to his eyes.

The last time i've made actual contact with Grey was in school,  and since i've learned of the mess Alex has made, we haven't even spoken since. I don't regret ever being with him, but I do regret everything he has done to get into my head, none of that should've happened. The sad part was that we kept looking at each other because there was nothing to say anymore. As I was about to completely pass him, he grabbed at my wrist

"I'm sorry, I still hope we can be friends..." He whispered into my ear

And almost simultaneously I looked to my right and there was Austin speaking to another uninvited guest. I didn't really miss Cecilia, in fact i'd be better off with her. But what surprised me the most was their interaction.

He wasn't yelling

She wasn't either.

They were smiling and talking up a normal looking conversation...

Am I missing something? I raised an eyebrow and walked towards them, taking my wrist back from Grey. I smiled at her and she smiled back... something was off here.

"Hey Babe," Austin smiled

"Is there something you guys want to tell me?" I asked, trying not to sound demanding in any way.

"You're funny Emma, i'm not trying to steal your man." She spoke raising her palms to face me.

"Yeah, we... um..kinda became friends again. It might seem weird but I swear nothing is wrong here." Austin defended her

"oh." I mumble to myself  quietly and walk away hoping that I wouldn't have to be near them any longer.
