One thing Yoongi did not like was rain. He did not like it for many, many, reasons. It was inconvenient, it usually got him sick, and rain usually meant thunder storms.
Yoongi hated thunder storms. Whether it be from his childhood with a traumatic experience involving a storm, or that fact that it disrupted his work, he hated them.
That's why Yoongi really didn't want to get coffee on Monday. Because it was raining. It's a perfectly fine reason, yeah?
Yoongi, however, was desperate enough and the rain was only a drizzle. He glanced up at the clouds, finding only gray, low-hanging ones. So he pulled on his raincoat and took his umbrella (just in case!) and set out on the perilous journey to Starbucks.
Soon enough, Yoongi reached the door to his safe haven and went inside. When he went to open the door, though, his hand twitched, causing him to kind of wrench his wrist in a painful way.
Only when it rains, Yoongi mentally sighed, does his hand have to twitch.
Yoongi made it in, though, and shut his umbrella up and left it on the little rack by the door. Yoongi made sure his name was on his and it was. Not like he'd really care if it was stolen, but it's the thought that counts.
The entire time in the line his right hand kept on twitching. It was annoying the hell out of Yoongi and he really just wanted the rain to stop.
When he finally got his drink he made sure to hold it in his left hand because he sure as hell isn't going to have his hand twitch and drop his drink.
Scanning the area, Yoongi found a single Hoseok sitting at a table. No surprise he was on his phone, scrolling away like everyone else in the shop.
When Yoongi sat down, Hoseok finally noticed and smiled. Then the smile slowly faded. "Wow. You do not look happy. You okay?"
Yoongi took a sip for a few seconds, taking his sweet time responding. "I guess. I don't like the rain." Yoongi also tended to feel quite a bit more depressed from the rain so his mood in general was unhappy.
"Ah..." Hobi nodded and went back to scrolling.
Yoongi pulled his phone out of his pocket and scrolled. He forgot about his right handed twitch, unfortunately. Not even two minutes into messing around on his phone it fell out of his hand due to a spasm. Yoongi was barely holding onto it anyway.
To say the least, he was not pleased. He stared at his hand in disappointment as it twitched again. And again.
Hoseok glanced up at him, confused. "Uh... Yoongi?"
"Mm?"
"Are you okay?"
"Probably not."
"Oh."
Yoongi stared at Hoseok with a blank expression. Hoseok stared back. They kept on staring until Yoongi's empty hand twitched again.
Yoongi closed his eyes, took a deep breath, then slammed his fist down on the table. He stared at his hand with great fury and said to it with clenched teeth, "Stop. Twitching. Or I'll cut you off."
"Uh... Yoongi. Are you really okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?"
"No," Yoongi instantly responded. "What I need is for it to stop raining so my hand will stop twitching."
"...alright. I seriously think we should go--"
"I said no," Yoongi snapped. "Maybe you need to just shut up and--"
Yoongi was cut off from something far, far worse than rain.
Thunder.
There was a small little blip of sorts that shut down his train of thought for solid ten seconds or more. Why did he have to be terrified of storms?
Yoongi had basically stopped moving at that point. Expect, of course, his hand. Well, now both of his hands were trembling, with the occasional twitch from his right.
"Oh my God. Yoongi are you seriously, really okay? Because I think you're not. Do you need a hug? A lot of people like hugs."
Yoongi had to twitch his head just a bit to get his mind back on track before speaking.
"Hoseok," Yoongi said. His voice was shaky. Of course it is. "I'm just... me and storms don't get along, alright? I... I just need some earbuds and my music and I'll be set." Why was he telling this to Hoseok?
Hoseok frowned but nodded. He moved his chair next to Yoongi so he could sit next to him unless told not to.
Dang it, why does Hoseok have to be so nice? Why does Hoseok have to be ...Hoseok?
Being honest, Yoongi enjoyed his company and his help and really most of the things Hoseok did. But of course he's never going to admit that - not when he's literally right next to him and Yoongi is terrified of the weather and really annoyed at himself for being himself.
Soon enough Yoongi did find some of his music that still needed to be touched up on his phone and played it. He ignored everything and everyone around him, and ignored his shaking hands. He just focused on his music and nothing else.
Some time passed, and Yoongi might have fallen asleep. Hoseok was still next to him, on his phone. Yoongi made it as discreet as possible that he was awake. He glanced around with only his eyes and found it was still raining. Still storming.
As much as he liked it here with Hoseok, he didn't feel totally safe. He needed to be back in his bed, maybe take a more comfortable nap. Make some music. Anything, really. Here he can't do that. He didn't understand why he needed to go back to his apartment, but he still needed to go. Yoongi was aware, too aware, of everything and needed just a small black hole of nothing. His bedroom, basically.
He also knew that if he stayed any longer with being able to witness the rain, his situation would only get worse as it does every year. Yoongi just wanted to delay it if possible.
So he left very quickly. It scared the hell out of Hoseok when Yoongi suddenly moved and sprinted out the shop, taking off down toward his apartment building. Yoongi almost tripped and landed on his face halfway through the door because of a sudden thunderclap. He's just surprised he didn't die on the spot. In fact, it only made him run faster.
Yoongi was terrified but he still ran. He realized that yeah, he can get to home in six minutes rather than ten, but he was also horribly out of shape and probably did need a good, proper meal instead of living off coffee and instant ramen. Yoongi was also getting cramps here and there, probably some of it just some severe stress. And the fact he is getting depressed for no reason because he has somewhat of a fucked up mind. (Not by his choice, either.)
His body just loved him.
He also realized he forgot his umbrella when he got to his bedroom. Not like he would've used it anyway. He was sprinting in horrible weather. The umbrella would've blown away in the wind. He at least had his raincoat, though.
He was safe, though. Paranoid enough to check the weather on three different apps, but safe enough. Safe to the point in which he could drown out the storm and forget about life in general.
He sighed. His hand kept twitching, he kept on shaking, and he was in a sour mood overall.
Yoongi called out for Holly and eventually snuggled with him until he fell asleep.
He's going to get sick, he just knows it.
