Yoongi did not like mornings. But, thankfully for him, there was a simple solution: Coffee. Starbucks coffee, to be exact. It woke him up for the long day ahead of him which included many things, such as getting inspiration for songs or lyrics, walking his dog, and then getting the motivation to actually work on songs. All within the span of 20 hours, give or take a power nap.The Starbucks he always went to every morning (except Saturday's) was only a ten minute walk from his apartment. That distance was quite helpful when you didn't own a car, and riding a bicycle in the morning when your brain didn't function well wasn't the best idea.
But that's what coffee is for.
Yoongi opened the door to the shop and pretty much stumbled toward the growing line. He noticed that his usual server, Sooyoung, was there and happily taking people's orders. Yoongi had no idea how she managed to stay so happy in the mornings, but he was grateful for it.
When Yoongi got to be third in line, he overheard Sooyoung cheerily ring out the price of the costumer's order. Then he came to the slow realization that he forgot his wallet.
And, Yoongi being Yoongi, he verbalized that reality. "...shit." It wasn't very loud, but he was pretty sure the person in front of him heard it.
What Yoongi didn't know was that he was very lucky it was this particular person.
However, since he did not know who it was, he quickly started patting around his hoodie pockets, and found nothing, and felt around his jean pockets, and only found his phone. He sighed and rubbed his temple as he felt an oncoming headache.
Soon enough it was his turn and he didn't want to hold up the line so he opened his mouth to say something. "Uh, Sooyoung, I forgo--"
"Don't worry, Yoongi! The person in front of you payed for your drink. Americano, right?"
Sooyoung smiled expectantly."Wait. What?" Yoongi was convinced it was his lack of sleep messing with him.
"Your drink's been paid for. Americano?"
"Oh. Uh... yeah... the usual." Yoongi blinked a few times as he went over to wait for his drink. The person in front of him, whose name he only got from his drink, Hoseok, seemed to be quite a happy person. Yoongi did not realize he was staring at the brunette until his name was called out.
He gladly took his coffee and looked around for a place to sit. He only saw a spot on the bar table open, next to Hoseok. Yoongi sighed and went over to sit next to the person who payed for his drink.
It was awkward, at least for Yoongi for a moment before he finally decided to thank Hoseok for paying for his drink.
"Uhm, I just wanted to say thanks." Yoongi started. It grabbed Hoseok's attention to Yoongi's relief. "For, uhm, paying for my drink. I just happened to forget my wallet so it really helped me out..."
Yoongi was not expecting that bright of a smile to come from the other. And that loud of a voice. "No need to thank me..." Hoseok glanced at Yoongi's drink, "Yoongi. I always pay for person behind me. I did see you trying to find what I thought was your wallet, but I didn't say anything. You're one of the few to thank me, though."
How can someone be this happy, loud and energetic at 8:00 in the morning, Yoongi wondered. He turned out to be quite flustered from the small conversation. "Uh... your welcome...? I guess? And how did you know my name?"
"Your cup."
Yoongi felt incredibly stupid. "Right," he whispered back. His face felt hot from embarrassment.
The two didn't say a word to each other a while. Yoongi got to thinking, though, and stole glances from Hoseok. His only conclusion was that Hoseok was a trust-fund kid and just had way too much money if he always pays for the person behind him.
Yoongi was almost done with his coffee when Hoseok got up. He smiled his very blinding smile at Yoongi and said, "Maybe I'll see you around?"
Yoongi looked up from his phone, "Oh, uh, I guess... yeah." He nodded, not fully content with his own answer but it was good enough.
"Alright!" Hoseok basically shouted, earning the attention of most of the customers.
Yoongi hid his face in his hands from the embarrassment and waved Hoseok off, or tried to. When he next looked, Hoseok was waving at him while walking out the door. He kind of waved back but barely managed to as there were still many eyes on him.
The morning had been more than usual, atleast for Yoongi.
