Hoseok hummed as his students filed out of the room, giving Hoseok a little bit of time to think about what had happened yesterday. It had been oddly satisfying to see Yoongi happy and smiling, even if he himself ignored it. Yoongi was always a little bit of a mystery, but he was still Hobi's friend.
Friend.
Hoseok shook his head with a smile as he thought about how simple the word was. Yoongi was someone who he hung out with almost daily, someone he talked to and someone who was willing to listen despite not seeming like the type of guy to do so. Honestly, Hoseok felt like Yoongi was the one keeping him sane sometimes, in light of all the literal children he had to deal with everyday. Yoongi was such a constant person in his life now, and Hoseok was eternally grateful for it.
He'll tell Yoongi that next time, Hoseok decided. For now, though, he had another class to get through in about half an hour. Thankfully it was his last class of the night. It was his older, more advanced kids, though, and he's tempted to have Jimin try and take over, considering he's the one who wanted the job, anyway. Hoseok needed a longer break, too...
Jimin was always one of the first to arrive, so gave Hoseok some extra time (and hope) on his situation.
"Hey, Jimin? I have a favor to ask, but it's totally fine if you don't want to do it! I just thought it would help you out."
Jimin looked up from his phone, and tilted his head, looking mildly confused. "Uh, ask away, Hoseok."
Hoseok smiled. "Alright, well, I was wondering if you wanted to possibly take over for the session today? I didn't have anything new planned, more like a review day to help kids get caught up on stuff they hadn't quite perfected, go over it a million or so times. Would you be willing to do that? It'd give you more experience, especially if you wanted to work here, right? I'll just watch, if you need any help I'll be here." Hoseok looked hopefully at Jimin, a small grin on his lips.
Jimin's face went blank at the prospect of it before it broke out into a shy smile. "Really? You would... you'd let me do that? I dunno... I mean, I'd love to! But are you really sure you're okay with that?"
"Well, of course! I would've have ask you if I wasn't fully okay with it, Jimin."
"Ah, okay! So I'm doing it? I'm really, really doing it?"
"Yes! You are! You've got some time to prepare, yeah? Here, we can go over the routine and I'll tell you if you need to clean anything up, which I'm sure you don't, and then I'll set you free."
Jimin nodded, and soon the two were going over the routine. Hoseok didn't see anything Jimin had to fix (such a talented kid, really).
Pretty soon, students started coming in again, and so Hoseok let Jimin take the reins as he went to go sit on the floor and watch. Hoseok was proud, he really was, but his mind started to wander places other than his current class and Park Jimin.
Mostly, it was his job. He loved it, he really, really did. But he also wanted something new, something a little more exciting. Part of him felt trapped in such a small company. He just wanted... more. More of everything. Less children, maybe, despite how much he loved them, but more opportunities, more challenges. More things that fit Hoseok.
Hoseok didn't know that the session had ended until Jimin came up to him and shook him out of his thought.
"Hey, Hoseok! You okay there?" Jimin asked with a deep breath, wiping a towel over his face.
Hoseok jumped staring up at Jimin for a solid three seconds before putting a hand over his chest in relief. "Yeah, yeah, I'm good. Oh, is it over? I guess I space out."
Jimin gave Hoseok a tired smile. "Yeah, it's over. It went really well! I liked it, too. The idea of getting a job here is getting more and more appealing."
"Oh, really? I'm really glad, Jimin! You'd be absolutely great here."
Jimin scratched the back of his head shyly before giving Hoseok a concerned look. "What about you, though? Are you gonna stay here?"
Hoseok blinked, not expecting such a question. "Yeah, uhm, actually..." Hoseok trailed off as he saw Jimin's face fall slightly, but he continued anyway. "Actually, I was thinking of... of finding somewhere else? Don't get me wrong, I love it here! It's just... I dunno." Hoseok shrugged, not entirely sure how to explain himself without sounding like he hated it, despite not hating it.
Jimin was quiet for only a few seconds before he smiled, surprising Hoseok even more. "I get it! I really do. I'm surprised you haven't exploded in a place like this. It's small, but you're just like..." Jimin gestured with his hands vaguely, laughing at himself. "But really Hoseok, I get it."
Hoseok was speechless. Jimin put it into words, more or less, better than he did and he understood it. It gave Hoseok so much more peace that he visibly relaxed, offering Jimin a slow smile. "Thanks, Jimin. I'm super glad you understand. I honestly just don't know where to start, and how I'm gonna handle letting go of this place. I've been here for so long, but I think it's time for me to do more, y'know? Just like how you want to start here, I wanna start somewhere else. Not like, start over, but make a name for myself elsewhere."
Jimin laughed at his teacher's remark but nodded. "Yeah, yeah, Hoseok. I get it. You can stop trying to explain it to me. As for finding another place to start... have you thought about an entertainment company? I mean, didn't you choreograph practically everything for us? I think that's plenty for a company to have. You're really talented overall, Hoseok."
Hoseok mulled over Jimin's words before letting out a quiet 'ohhhh.' "That's not a bad idea, Jimin. I'll look into. But for now, you look like you need sleep, and I need some sleep. Thanks again, Jimin. I owe you one," Hoseok said as he got up from the floor. He dusted himself off as he did so, taking a glance at the now mostly empty room.
Jimin brought Hoseok's attention back to the conversation with another laugh. "You practically gave me a job offer, you've owed me one already." Jimin then let out a yawn. "Ah, you're right. I do need sleep. Well, I'll be going now, Hoseok! Take care!" Jimin grabbed his stuff and scurried out of the room, waving at Hoseok.
Hoseok let out a chuckle and waved back. "I will and you too!"
He let out a sigh once he heard the door shut and rubbed his eyes. The prospect of something new both excited him and tired him out, but that also could've been because he didn't get that good a night's sleep before. Hoseok took his time closing everything up, wanting to spend every moment choosing what he wanted to do.
Not before long, Hoseok was back at his own apartment, still in some awkward daze of thinking, thinking and more thinking. What did he want to do? He could always stay...
But he also really didn't want to.
Hoseok let out another sigh, and grabbed his laptop and opened up a new tab, staring at it blankly for about a minute, thinking in dead silence.
...An entertainment company, huh? Hoseok's fingers moved swiftly but tiredly over his keyboard, squinting at his bright screen until he found something that sounded up his alley.
BigHit Entertainment.
It wouldn't hurt to try, right?
