Hoseok hadn't planned on hiding in the fruit section at the convenience store. He hadn't planned on almost being seen by Yoongi in said fruit section.
He was just confused, really. Why Yoongi, the person loaded with money, was buying instant ramen in the middle of the day? Why was he carrying a notebook around? Was it a list of people to steal money from? Why did Yoongi look so good in ripped black jeans and a sweatshirt?
Hoseok did not want an answer to that last question, so he continued to hide behind a few watermelons. Yoongi kept walking slowly around the store, squinting at various things such as price tags, Twinkies and the nacho cheese dispenser.
Hoseok just wanted to get some sandwiches for lunch but no, Yoongi came in out of nowhere and it gave him no choice but to hide in the fruit section. However, Hoseok couldn't help but stare at Yoongi from his hiding spot. It was just so weird to actually see him outside of Starbucks. He didn't look as tired, just a little more irritated overall.
As Yoongi moved throughout the sections of various foods, Hoseok realized that his hair was bright orange and that hiding was going to be hard with that hair.
Good thing he was wearing a hoodie.
Hoseok quickly slipped his hood on, making sure none of his hair could be seen and continued to spy on Yoongi from beyond the watermelons. He didn't like the fact he was basically being a stalker, but he couldn't help it. It would be way too awkward to confront Yoongi and he also did not want his money to get taken away from rich people. It happens anyway, but usually not for the reason of revenge.
Hoseok was so lost in thought for a while that he didn't see Yoongi walking straight toward the fruit section. He hid behind the other isle as he approached, but now Hoseok could clearly hear him muttering to himself.
"Why do they have fruit just out in the open? Oh, there's some in a freezer, but still..."
"Who even sells watermelons these days?"
"I wonder how deadly it would be if you mixed moldy blueberries with that nacho cheese... it would kill you, right? I'll keep that in mind, then..."
Hoseok was fairly intrigued until the last statement. Was Yoongi working for the government? Did he need to use resourses from common life? Who did he have a grudge on? Oh God, what if he was next on the list in that notebook of his? Was that a hitlist?
Hoseok was mentally freaking out, but did notice Yoongi was moving onto the isle Hoseok was in. He needed to act fast. If he acted like a normal person, would Yoongi ignore him? Would he even recognize him? Hoseok didn't want to take that risk, so he settled on either running away at the risk of grabbing attention or he could sneak away.
Hoseok had his back turned to Yoongi by the time he entered the isle. Thankfully Hoseok was halfway down the isle and was walking quickly enough he'd soon be able to get to the next isle and hide once again.
However, Yoongi had asked him a question. "Hey, uh... do you know where the frozen pizza is?"
Crap. Hoseok didn't turn his head to look at him, but he did stop. His plan was going to messed up. He could either respond and have his cover blown, or just not respond and escape.
Ugh, it was so hard for him to choose. He wanted to be nice but he really didn't want to die.
Hoseok decided to vaguely point in the direction of the frozen pizza, and hope Yoongi would get the not-so-clear direction. Hoseok then scooted over to the next isle. He let out a sigh of relief. He was pretty sure he was not caught.
Yoongi had muttered something the next second, though, "Wow, wasn't that clear." He sighed and Hoseok heard shuffling, probably from his shoes. "Of course the person I ask to help didn't really help. It always happens to me..."
Hoseok felt super bad. He stared at Yoongi through the isle, frowning. Hoseok now really wanted to go and give him clear directions and maybe even a hug. No, wait, a hug would be too much. As Hoseok watched the dejected Yoongi move on to find the frozen pizza, Hoseok really felt his guilt build up.
However, he had to stay hidden. Sadly, though, his sandwiches were next to the pizza and so he had to make his way over and his next classes started soon and and really needed to get going, but he couldn't let the guilt eat him up the entire time.
So, he made a plan.
It took some time to think, but Yoongi was moving at a turtle's pace so he didn't have to rush too much. Hoseok made sure his hair could not be seen, as well as his face, and he was pretty sure he could pull off changing his voice so it wasn't too recognizable.
Hoseok made his way behind Yoongi for a moment. This was a dangerous area, as his face would be seen no matter what. He made it to just behind Yoongi with no problems, as he was walking pretty quietly.
Hoseok made sure to whisper right as he passed Yoongi, "So... the sandwiches are right next to the pizza... sooooo, over there. Yeah." Hoseok then sped walk the rest of the distance.
He couldn't help but glance back, just to make sure.
Yoongi looked subtly surprised, confused, a little angry and a little happy all at the same time. Hoseok smiled a little as he made his way over to the sandwiches to pick some up. He noticed Yoongi had found his way to the frozen pizza and was looking at them with the tiniest smile on his face. Even though they were technically an isle apart, Hoseok had a much better angle for spying on people.
It pleased him.
Hoseok really needed to leave, probably in the next five minutes, so he practically bolted over to the cashier and set his three, small sandwiches on the counter. He couldn't stand still. His fingers tapped on the counter impatiently and he moved back and forth as the cashier slowly scanned his items.
Soon enough, without any Yoongi in sight he had made his way out. He did see Yoongi looking quite annoyed with the same cashier as Hoseok made it out the door.
He made it out alive and unseen, for the most part. And he wasn't going to be late, either.
