Yoongi honestly didn't know why he had said he was perfectly okay to start work on a Saturday, but there he was, standing in front of the building of BigHit Entertainment. He was nervous as anyone might be, but at least he wasn't late. No, that would've been a whole other problem that he was going to avoid.
So he adjusted his slightly-formal clothes one last time before walking in.
Honestly, the rest of the day was a blur. He may or may not have gotten lost once or twice, but he eventually found his footing. More ground rules and expectations were laid out for him and he was expected to come into work five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday, and that he had to be there at 9:00 am and that normally he could leave by 5:00 pm if he wanted to. Lunch break was apparently an hour long sometime around noon, which was nice.
Yoongi was so happy to find out that he could still have his morning chats with Hoseok. He also wondered how his sleep schedule would fair, since he knows going to work is going to be much more draining than just sitting at home all day. Hopefully Holly won't miss him much.
Yoongi was also informed that he and more new employees with have a project in the coming weeks, but since they're hiring gradually, he has a few days to think about the project overall. It's supposed to gauge your strengths in working together with one or more people... or something. For his part, he had to make a song, and also choose a name to go under when credited for producing things. He'll think on that.
The moment he got home from a hectic day filled with many more weird things (but damn, he was so happy about it, his cheeks were starting to hurt) Yoongi felt like sleeping forever.
So, that's what he did over the weekend, and when Monday came around, he realized that he had to get back on Hoseok on that McDonald's thing. As he closed the door to his apartment, he just then remembered the horrid way the phone call ended. It was so voluntary he didn't even register it until a few seconds after Hoseok hung up on him. And Yoongi can't blame him, either, because he probably would've done the same. Actually, he might have actually done that before, but he doesn't remember it too well.
Yoongi shook his head out of that memory and made his way towards the Starbucks.
Once there and once he had his drink in hand, he sat down next to Hoseok on the couch (which already looks worn, even though it's only been a few weeks) and greeted him.
"Hi, Hobi."
"Oh! Hi Yoongi!" Hoseok said brightly, waving.
Yoongi nodded. He didn't really want to forget what he needed to do, so he got straight to the point. "So about the McDonald's thing."
Hoseok perked up, though he looked slightly worried. "Yeah? You figure out if it's good or not?"
"Yeah. I'm good for the mornings. Though, try not to keep me too long. I have things to do, if we're gonna do it this week," he explained. "I just don't know where the McDonald's you had in mind is."
Hoseok blinked. "Oh. Oh! Okay! Yeah, uh, I can show you. Or, we could like, meet up here then we could just... walk together or something." Hoseok stumbled over his words just enough for Yoongi to notice, as well as the other's face flushing. Odd.
"That sounds fine. And you're blushing."
"What?" Hoseok said, his voice going up an octave. "I'm not."
"...Uhuh. Whatever you say, Hobi."
Hoseok pouted, and Yoongi couldn't help but smile.
"You're mean," Hoseok said , still keeping the over-dramatic pout on his face.
"And you're still blushing. Your point?" Yoongi said before taking a sip of his coffee.
"I... never mind. Also, uh..." Hoseok trailed off, his face twisting in thought.
Yoongi raised an eyebrow. "Say what you gotta say, Hobi."
Hoseok nodded and exhaled. "Right. Uh." He shifted on the couch, biting his lip for a second. "So, like, I don't remember if I told you but I'm applying for a new job because I need something new. The pay is going to be leagues better and maybe I could afford things again. Like how I payed for people behind me, right? I had to stop doing that because it was draining my wallet. Anyway, I'm real stressed about it and at this point I don't even know if I want to switch jobs even though I feel like it'd be so good for me to do so... Ah, sorry for rambling, uh, anyway. How are you doing today?" Hoseok flashed an awkward smile at the end, obviously embarrassed.
Yoongi felt his world shatter. He had to process this whole thing for a moment. So... Hoseok. Hobi. J-hope... the guy wasn't some rich trust fund kid who had a mountain of money somewhere in the world? He didn't work for the government? Yoongi wracked his brain for any clues to see if it made sense and... it was pretty clear that Hoseok was definitely not what he thought he was in terms of money or occupation. Now that he really thinks about it, the guy might be a teacher, since he has mentioned 'kids' on multiple occasions.
Clearing his throat, Yoongi replied. "Uh, yeah, I'm doing fine. Little tired, but that isn't new. Uhm. You said you were nervous about your.. job?"
Hoseok nodded, looking frazzled still.
"Go for it," Yoongi stated bluntly.
"What?"
"I said go for it. Might as well try, right? You might like it." He shrugged and took another sip of his coffee, looking expectantly at his friend.
"Oh. Uh... that's... that's really good advice, Yoongi. Thanks. Yeah, I think I will."
Yoongi smiled, gummy and all. "Great. You definitely deserve a better job, Hobi."
"Thanks. Y'know, Yoongi, with all the decent sleep you've been getting you're a lot more happy. I love it. Usually I'm the one being happy all the time so for you to cheer me up... it's nice. I really appreciate it."
"Don't get all mushy on me, Hoseok. Get your job first, or try, and then you can get mushy. Maybe. Whatever."
Hoseok laughed. "Okay, Yoongi, whatever you say~."
