Chapter thirty five

"Merry Christmas!" Gary sang the next morning handing me a big box.

[THANKFULLY NOT A RING BOX]

My mouth fell open as I pulled off the ribbon and lifted off the lid, it was a stunning red dress."Oh Gary!! It's beautiful."
I flung my arms around him and kissed his face all over.
He loved his Keyboard and spent an hour setting it up in the studio as I started dinner, we had invited all the boys and partners around for Christmas Dinner, we hadn't all met up in ages and they were dying to see the new house.
When I was all prepped and on time to my schedule I went upstairs for a quick shower and to get my dress on!
It was a perfect fit. Gary was good at at things like that.
As I walked back past the studio I heard Gary playing melodies on his keyboard and singing away, this was Gary at his best....writing lyrics and he was in his element.
Smilin to himself, I felt a pang of pure happiness from deep within my stomach. God I loved this man!

"Happy Christmas, shouted Mark as he entered the hall! He and Vicki had arrived bang on time! Jason and Anna weren't far behind. Howard and Sam arrived last but still in plenty of time.
As we all gathered in the lounge I poured a drink for everyone I stood up and a hush fell on the room.

"I ....errr...Geeesus, I'm crap at speeches!" I said and a ripple of laughter tittered through the boys.
But I just wanted to say, welcome to our new home, it seems impossible what has happened in just 5 months, but it was all worth it in the end. Both Gary and I open our home to you all as part of our family and you may treat it as your own...just clear up after yourself." Another tittered went round.
"Gary....I would just like to say, I don't know why the hell you would want to be with me..just another fan, when you could have picked anyone in the world. But I'm glad you did!!I love you very much and I hope I always will...my heart is now yours!!"
"Ahhhhhhhhhhh" everyone chorused together.
Gary walked towards me with tears streaming down his face.
"Speech!!" Howie shouted.
Gary composed himself a little. "Well tough one to follow that!!" He chuckled. "As my beautiful girlfriend says..yes welcome to our home and may it hold many years of happy memories...my life was turned upside down that day I saw Mel....I felt happy again and maybe a little shy! " the group chuckled again. "Life in showbusiness can be fucking shit sometimes, and yes we know that comes with the job....but coming home to this beautiful woman each day erases all those worries and woes." He turned to me. " you are the most caring comforting person I know and I welcome you into my heart, where I hope one day you will agree to be my wife!" We all laughed at that!! " I love you Melissa Evans...cheers everyone...Merry Christmas!!!
"Yay yay..Merry Christmas!!" Everyone chorused together.
We all had our dinner sat round a huge table, this felt wonderful.
Our laughter was halted by Gary's phone ringing...
"Fucking woman!! What now??!!" He said seeing her number appear.
"Who is it?"I asked
"HER!!!" He spat.
"It maybe important Babe?!" I hoped she would only ring in an emergency on Christmas Day! As he had already spoken to his children this morning.
"What?!!" He answered In an angry voice. "What??...Julie???...fuck Julie you're drunk!!" "No....no I don't!!.....I said I had!!!....no!....NO! Look we are divorced! Leave me the hell alone!!"
My eyebrows knitted.... GRRRRRRRRR.
He continued...."well you blew that when you chose that PRICK!!" "Look Julie...I love Mel....now Fuck Off!" He cut off the call.
All feeling slightly awkward I asked Anna to help me in the kitchen with the pudding...and excused myself.
"Geeesh!! I can't believe shed do that??" Said Anna shaking her head.
"Let's not talk about her yeah??" I half smiled at Anna. "Anyway....how are you? Haven't seen you for ages?!" I rubbed her shoulder
"Oh...were good. Jays looking after me, I'm living the dream Babes! Hey, you two should come over sometime." She beamed.
"How are you now the trials all done and the stress of the move?!"
"Awwww...it's wonderful Babes..we are really happy....apart from him asking to marry him all the time??!! I laughed.
"Marry him?!! Are you serious???!! And that's bugging you...why???" She looked shocked.
"Well I just.....I don't want ...well ...him to feel like I'm rushing in to replacing Julie!? And for him to just do it to shut her up?! Does that make sense??" I felt confused myself.
"Oh Mel....you can see he adores you...and after that speech?" She smiled. "That dress is gorgeous by the way?!" She felt the material.
"my pressie from Gaz!" I beamed
"Well there you go!! He loves you girl!!" She shrugged.

When we returned to the lounge the mood was a lot calmer, the boys were good at calming him.
Gaz mouthed. "You ok?"
I nodded in reply and placed the flaming pudding down on the table...

We all patted our full tummies indicating fullness, the boys typically legged it to the studio, leaving us girls to clear up.
I'd not spoken to Vicki and Sam very much before..but if was gonna be a long term Take That girlfriend...I should make the effort.
After all the dishes were stacked in the dishwasher, things tidied away and we'd put the world to rights we felt virtually like sisters.
"Let's go see what those boys are up to?" Said Vicki.
So we threw down the tea towels and sneaked up to the door of the studio.
