Chapter Ninety Five

Gary phoned every night before he went on stage, sometimes he'd ring again before he went to sleep usually ending in phone sex. That man knew exactly how I worked and even down a phone line he made me all hot under the collar.

One Tuesday, a week before Wembley. Anna and myself took the kids to group as usual. We were chatting away to another mum about the usual baby subjects, when one lady came in all flustered, I'd seen her a few times before but we'd not actually got round to chatting yet, she seemed a bit scatty to me.
The staff made her a drink and asked her how 'it' was. She dropped her bag and placed her little girl on the playmat and started screeching and flapping about.
She started explaining how good it had been, she got her phone out and started showing people pictures. "Yeah...Jason hugged me..and I got Gary's autograph...I nearly died when he wrote his phone number on the back?!"
I flashed a look at Anna, she screwed up her nose "total rubbish!"
"Scuse me?" The woman said to Anna rather rudely.
A few of the mums looked at each other and wished the ground would open up.
"I said that's total tosh!.. As if Gary would do that, he's married?!" Anna tittered
"Jealously will get you nowhere love....he was all over me!"
"Look I think I would know...and I know for a fact he wouldn't do that!" Anna was getting mad.

One of the staff tapped he on the shoulder "umm Michelle?" She just flicked it off.

"Oh yeah how the hell would you know? You old fans think you know it all don't you? Well maybe he likes a bit extra when he's on tour LOVE?"

"Ummmm...Michelle....I think we should step out." The staff member tried to intervene.

"Excuse me, yes I think I would know...I'm married to Jason!" Anna was livid.
"hahahahaha...you keep telling yourself that love.. I spose your friend there is secretly married to Mark huh?"
"Right, Michelle I think that's very rude and we'd like you to leave please, this group is a lovely group and your outburst is upsetting some of the members." The group organiser stood in between us and the woman and waited for her to leave.
"You horrible woman..." I stopped Anna in her tracks.
"Anna.....don't!" I said softly.
"Well we'll see won't we...when he rings me tonight!" The vile woman said as she was ushered out the door, child in her arms.
"Think it's time we left!" I said collecting my belongings, bag and Taylor. Anna followed close by with Maddi.

"Tell me You don't believe her Babes?" She said breaking the silence as we walked home."I've heard Jay say they sometimes do it to wind the fans up?! Sick I know!"
"That's what I hate about when he's away. My biggest insecurity."
"But we have to trust them...as harsh as it sounds...we have to trust.... Come on let's go to mine!" She always knew when I needed a sweet cup of tea.

"Hello Beautiful!" Gary said that night when I rang him for a change.
"Hi." Was all I replied. He knew immediately by the tone that something was wrong.
"That doesn't sound good! What's the matter? You ok? 'splodge'?" I could hear the band practising in the Backround so he started to shout to be heard.
"We're fine...and nothing's the matter I hope!"
"There is... I can tell...where are you?" He'd moved somewhere quieter.
"Home!"
"Baby! What is it? Was it group?"
"we just got a tour report from an unknowing fan today!"
"Ooooh....bad report?"
"Just the opposite actually....she reckons you gave her your mobile number! And was waiting for your call actually!"
"Oh yeah I remember...long blonde hair..bimbo looking!" He laughed
"Gaz you did what!!??" I screeched.
"Jay dared me to give her a fake number!...you....you didn't believe I'd give her my real one....did you?"
"God damn it Gary! We miss you like crazy! Then this...this...BLONDE comes in and says you gave her your number for 'extras' !!"
"Baby, you know I love you, you have to trust me Baby! She probably went home and had a wet dream about me....so what???!!!!.... I LOVE YOU MELISSA....YOU!! I married YOU!"

"I know....I'm sorry, Anna had faith, she laid into the woman big time. She obviously didn't know who we were, she laughed at Anna when she said she was married to Jay!"
"Look, 6 more days and I can show you how much I've missed you, we're nearly done with the tour now, good job too, my balls ache so much. I'm missing you both so much." I could hear music again in the Backround so I knew he had to go.
"Good job Markys there to help you out then!" That made him giggle.
"Ay...now that's not a bad idea that?!" His northernness creeped in, you could tell he was in Manchester at the moment.

"Look, I've made arrangements for Monday and we're booked in the Plaza again, penthouse, we will travel down from Newcastle after the gig, kip on the bus. So we can be with you that night ok?"
"Really??"
"Yeah arrive whenever you want with the rest of the girls..have a spa day or something yeah!...yeah ok Mike!"
"Ok, I know you gotta go..we really miss you ..he tried standing today, got it on camera to show you."
"Aw ..clever boy ...miss you both tons too, can't wait to hold him...and do some naughty things to his mummy!"
"Yeah I bet!"
"Look I gotta go..mikes having kittens! See you Monday yeah, and I'll ring you tomorrow!"
"Ok...love to all.I'm off to bed with my hot chocolate."
"Ooh save some cream for the 4th yeah?"

"Love you too.." And I heard Mark in the Backround shouting 'love you Barlow'
"Shhrupp man! Ok...gotta go..bye....love you"
Ok..bye..love you too."

I let out a sigh as I hung up. Why do I ever doubt him?
