Chapter Ninety One

"Morning Sweetcheeks!" I said as I returned the bedroom after slipping away to feed Taylor and making a cuppa for us both. I walked round and popped his on his bedside table and slipped back into bed beside him, putting down my cup to snuggle in under his lifted arm.
"You wouldn't be so sprightly if I had rammed you in the ass?!!" He grinned with his eyes still closed.
"Hahahahaha .... I bet I wouldn't either!"
"So the girls came clean then?.." He looked at me with one eye before it closed again.
" yeah they did...so you didn't bang either of them then? Just being sure?"
"No. No offence they are brilliant girls but ... "
"To much hard work?" I offered
"...no...just ...well ...not my type..." He screwed up his nose. "So what did they say about you not going with any of the other boys?" I looked at him and his eyes were still closed.

I think I paused a little long as he whipped open his eyes and looked me square in the face.. "Have you???" He said in a more serious tone.
"Well.....no..not really!" I quietly whimpered.
"WHAT?!!!" He spat sitting bolt upright in bed.
"Look, before you go off on one...."
"You did didn't you?? You cheated on me??!!" His face dropped.
"Gary! look! It wasn't...I didn't want...i....oh shit....please??? Howard just...."
"DOUGIE?????? YOU CHEATED ON ME WITH DOUGIE????" He was livid now!
"Please...let me explain" I tried to place a hand on his chest...but he swiped it off immediately.
"How could I be so blind? He is always talking about you, he said I was so lucky to marry you, I'm so fuckin DUMB!" He flicked back the duvet and flew out, pacing the room with his fists clenched.
I started to cry..he wouldn't listen...
"I knew finding you was too good to be true...BUT HOWARD??? WITH FUCKING HOWARD??!! HOW COULD YOU????? HOW COULD HE?"
"Gary please......I want to explain!......" I sobbed
"Spare me the fucking detail Melissa!" He was still pacing.
"Gary we didn't.." Gary just held up his hand to silence me.
"Please........" all that was audible was my sobs.
He pulled on some jeans from the armchair in the corner, pulled a t.shirt from the drawer and pushed his arms in and lastly whipped it over his head as he left the room. A few seconds later I heard a loud thump, like a fist hitting something and the slam of the front door.

I grabbed my phone and called up Anna's number. "Anna!!" I balled
"Mel??? What on earths the matter?!!"
"He knows!" Was all I said.
"I'm on my way!" Was her simple reply.

Anna was there within 30 minutes, thank god she a didn't live to far away!
Maddi and Taylor played brilliantly together while Anna and myself chatted about what had happened. She was slightly shocked about the balcony conversation but it didn't surprise her really. She looked after me all day. I didn't know where Gary had gone, or even if he'd be home, she had just told Jay something had come up and she'd be out most of the day..luckily he never questioned her.

"What if he's gone to Howard? What if they fight? What if it causes a split? This close to a tour??!" I teared up again.
"Eh?!!! No more of that talk! Hopefully it won't come to that, Gary is a very forgiving bloke, you know that?"
"What if he leaves me Anna? I can't be without him! I need him...Taylor needs him!" I broke down again. She'd not seen me this upset since he left me to be with Becca and didn't contact me.

Gary eventually came through the door at just past 10pm. Anna stood silently, collected Maddi from the travel cot I'd made up for her, she rubbed Gary arm tenderly and I followed her to the door. As she hugged me she said in my ear. "It will be fine...you'll see...he's back and he loves you" which instantly started my tears again, she rubbed my arm and closed the door behind her.

Neither of us said anything for a bit. Gary poured himself a JD and Coke.

"I spoke to Howard." He broke the ice with a soft voice just as Taylor woke with a grizzle. "Is he due a feed?"
I noodled silently with a sniff. He put down his glass on the coffee table and went into the nursery to fetch him. I blew my nose again while he was gone for the umpteenth time.
Sitting down on the sofa I rearranged my dress.
"Here you go! Heres Mummy!" He kissed his forehead and sniffed in his unique baby smell as he handed him to me. Taylor found his milk straight away and began feeding happily.
Gary reacquainted himself with his glass and sat on the sofa opposite me. I let him speak first again.
"Howard said it was all him, he pestered you for the kiss!" He sipped his drink.
I nodded "We didn't......" He put up his hand again.
"Please..I really need to say this.....he said he was the one who made that bruise on your arm on my birthday, by pulling you into the bathroom." His voice broke...this was killing him too. "He told me, it was you that stopped him and he was Sorry!.... He also said he pestered you for the kiss at Eltons party, that caused you to flee outside." I nodded once more wiping my dripping nose. " he said he also pulled you outside at the reception and tried to kiss you then!" He sipped his drink again.
"Gary......Baby...please?" Once again I was silenced by a single hand.
"He did kiss you, but still you pulled away?"
Yet again I nodded.
"And he swore to god that was all that happened?"
I nodded again.
"Nothing before or after?"
I shook my head.
"He's now mopping up blood from his newly broken nose as we speak!"
I let out a sob.
"I think I've made my feelings known to him, I know it wasn't you and you did your best to stop it, I also know it could have been a lot worse...I love you Mel"
"I Love You Too!" I broke down in tears, Taylor pulled off to study my face, as I covered it with my hand.
He didn't comfort me, he just rose from his chair,downed the rest of his drink, took the glass to the kitchen and then silently went to bed.
Taylor latched back on and finished his milk. I didn't join Gary in bed that night, I thought it best to sleep on the sofa, once Taylor had nodded off again, I put him back to bed and curled up on the sofa snuggled into Taylor's snuggle blanket.
Gary was back, understandably angry, but back, here where he belonged. I couldn't lose him. I hoped the band didn't suffer. If all this came out...it could get messy and I didn't want any of them to suffer because of me.

I had a really bad dream that night, one I was glad to wake from. I woke with Gary stood over me, holding Taylor.
