Chapter fifty three

Puffing out a deep breath...wow big step...meeting more of his family.
I sorted out some cups that matched and made sure they were clean, newspaper leaves black marks over everything when you move.
I filled the kettle and switched it on, checking my hair in the mirror, fingered it abit ..but it didn't change the reflection.

I rooted through the cupboards to find some nibbles, and placed some crisps and nuts into a few bowls. Noticing some dirty laundry on the floor I quickly shoved it into the washer out of sight.
Slamming the door shut as I heard "hello you!!" From behind me.
"SHIT! ANNA! .. You made me jump!" I panted.
"Sorry babes!....hey? Who's that dish on the sofa with Marge?" She grinned
"That's Gaz' brother Ian..." I said grinning at her face.
"Hmmmm....not bad!" She smirked.
"...and very married!" I said "and come to think of it...so are you Mrs Orange!!"
We made a huge pot of tea and placed milk and sugar on the tray. I carried it back to the lounge, Anna carried the snack bowls.
Jay, Howard and Mark had all arrived and were already sharing a joke together.
"So how are you Mum?" They all called each other's mum that. It was really cute.
"I'm fine thank you Howard dear....is Sam ok?" Gary passed her her cup.
"Yes she's fine..she will be along later after work." He said as he sipped his tea.
"Beautiful girl that...you hold onto her dear!" She nodded.
"Oh I will!" He giggled. "Until you say yes!"
"Tease!" She giggled. "And you and Vicki Mark?...how are you dear?!"
"All good at the moment thanks Mum.." He said grabbing a handful of nuts.

Gary was in deep conversation with his brother.
"Well I must say Mel....this house is beautiful..you've done a great job. I see Gary's still got that old thing!" She said pointing over at his grand piano. "Bloody years old that thing!"
"God yeah!! We couldn't live without that piano!" I rolled my eyes causing a ripple of laughter.
"Any BABY news Anna dear?" She smiled at Anna. Who's face dropped and she shot a glance at Jason.
"ANNA!?" I said. Jason moved in behind Anna and nodded.
"ANNA!!!!!!!" I squealed. "Oh My God!!" I said slapping my hand over my mouth.
My squeal stopped Gary and Ian's conversation in its tracks and the room fell silent.
"Ok!" Jason put down his cup and placed his hands on Anna's shoulders. "Myself and my wife would love to announce we are in fact pregnant!" Jason's grin was so wide, you could drive a bus through it.

"Oh Anna!!!" I said rushing over to hug her as the rest of the boys all piled on Jason! shouting "pile up!!!"
"They never change!" Said Ian laughing at the boys. "Congratulations Anna!" He said hugging her too.
"I knew it!" Marge said standing to hug Anna too. "Well done dear!"
"Awww...Thank you! Thanks everyone!" Anna looked embarrassed but happy.
Once the boys had let Jason go and pulled him up to his feet..I grabbed him for a hug.
"Oh Jase! I'm soooo pleased for you both!"
"Aww...cheers Mel...I'm really excited about it! Can you tell?" He laughed.
I looked back at Mel. "When.........WHEN??"
Jason confirmed " July the 17th, our anniversary of meeting how bizarre is that?!"
"Oh My God! That's truly fate!" I was gobsmacked.
"Well!!!!" Said Gary strutting towards me!

[ OH SHIT! HERE GOES!]

"Jay and Anna are not the only ones with news??" He grinned.
Anna gasped..."GOD NOT YOU TOO??!"
"No!! Nooooo no I'm not." I said faking an unhappy look.
"Oh....um..." Anna backtracked a little.
"My Beautiful FIANCÉE and myself are delighted to announce our engagement!" Gary shouted as the room filled with cheers yells and screams! His face beamed as wide as Jason's had.

The boys all came running at once...and piled on both Gary and me!" Pile up!!!!!!!
There were arms, legs and crotches everywhere! I accidentally brushed my hand against someone's crotch. Lord knows who!
"Eh! Someone just touched me up then!!!!" Shouted Mark!

[ SHIT IT WAS MARKS!]

"Sorry Markie...couldn't resist!" Laughed Howard

As I opened my eyes after the initial onslaught...Howard's face was an inch from my own...he was staring intently at me. He mouthed "nice one!"
Gary starting squealing like a girl...like he did on an interview years ago when all the boys piled on him tickling him.
I was laughing so much it hurt.."get off!!!!!! Bunch of hooligans!!!!!" I said and Was pulled to my feet by Jason.
"Oh Babes..." he said hugging me tight. "Congrats!"
"Thanks Jase!" I said as Mark pulled me in for a hug too. "Yayyyyy!!! Gaz is getting married again!!!!" He squealed all excited.
"Thanks Marky!" I said rubbing his back tenderly.
Anna was next in line pulling me into a hug. "Aww.....I'm so happy!" She sniffed.
"Oi! Don't you dare!!!...you'll set me off!!" I chuckled.
"Sorry babes.....Hormones!" She grinned.
Marge was next. "My Boy couldn't have chosen better! Million times better than the last one!! BITCH she was!" She frowned.
"Mum!" Gary said...and we all roared laughing.
"Well.....she is!" She huffed.
"Congratulations Mel!" Said Ian "welcome to the Barlow Family. " he grinned and shook my hands and kissed my cheek.

[ GOD THATS SOUNDS GOOD!!]

"Yayyyyyy Bro!!!" He said hugging Gary. "Well done Bro....she's lovely!"
"Awww.....Cheers Bro!" He replied nodding.

Someone was missing? Howard hadn't congratulated us?!

[ WHERES HE GONE?]

I excused myself and went to the bathroom for a wee. Trying the door handle it was locked. "How? Is that you?" I called through the door.
The door flew open and he grabbed my wrist pulling me inside before slamming the door shut again locking it.
"Ow! Howard?! That hurt!" I said rubbing my wrist.
He placed a hand each side of my head against the wall.
"Howard! You're scaring me?!" I said instinctively bringing up my arms to protect myself.
"I'm not gonna hurt you Mel!" He said softly. "I just wanna know what it feels like?"
"What??......what what feels like? Howard are you ok? You're acting strange?"
"What it's like to kiss your lips?......." He said moving closer

[WHAT THE FUCK?]

"Howard STOP!" I pushed a hand against his rippling chest, preventing him from coming any closer. His mouth was centimetres from my own...I could feel his breath on my face.
"Just ONE kiss...." He said.

"....it's driving me insane..I know you love Gaz....and yes I love Sam.....but FUCK those lips are driving me wild! Just one forbidden kiss! He was staring at me so close and my breath caught in my throat.
My hand was still pushed against his chest preventing us from contact, I could feel his heart pounding against it...

This was now in my court....would I honour his secret kiss??? OR would I stay true to Gary??
