Jace's P.O.V
All hell broke loose now. We had a plan, and apparently so did he. Erik threw the knife, and I sent a bolt of fire towards him. He easily doged both. " Damn him" I thought to myself. He must have trained harder since our last fight, when I whooped his ass. He started to send gusts of wind my way, which I blocked by fire. I was too concentrated on what I was doing, so I didn't hear Erik right away. He was busy with Conrad too, and all he yelled was " Kara" I looked over toward where she should be, and instead all I saw was a body covered in blood. My heart lurched and I began to feel sick. I shook my head, and made myself turn away. " She never would have made it here" I said to myself to try and take the feeling of guilt away. If i kept repeating it, I would start to believe it.
Kara pulled the blade out of her stomach with the remaining strength she had. She gasped as a wave of pain and nausea swept over her, causing her vision to become splotchy. The agony in her stomach was become more intense by the second. She heard the crash of the window, and Jace's voice as he ran down the hallway. She felt herself being scooped up into a pair of strong arms, and gave out.
When she came to, all she saw was the high arches of the castle moving fastly. She was being carried, and whoever was carrying her was running at top speed. She looked to the side, and could barely make out Erik's face. He looked down at her and said " Stay with me Kara. Your gonna be fine. Just stay with me". Kara was too weak to respond, so she just continued to stare at the ceiling. Another window crashed, sending Erik and Kara flying. Kara hit the ground hard, holding her side and gasping for air. Erik yelled something she couldnt understand, and Kara managed to haul herself up on her feet. " Here. Tie this around your waste" Erik yelled ripping off a piece of a curtain. Kara hurridly tied the ragged piece around her waste, and it took some pain away. She could now stand on her feet without bending over. Erik was leaning over the broken window, yelling something to someone hanging on the ledge. " Jace" Kara thought. " God what has that stupid boy done now" she thought to herself. Just then, another boy jumped through the window, and tackled Erik. Kara stood there, mouth open, and she got her first good look at Conrad. He was slightly taller then Erik, and his looks where as far away from his as possible. He had blonde messy curly hair, and grey eyes that were filled with revenge. Conrad's sword was stuck in the opposite wall, and he raced over to retrieve it. " Ok Kara, you need to trust me on this. I need to go help Jace, he's hanging on the wall of the castle." Erik said, handing her his sword. Kara opened her mouth to say somthing but Erik interrupted " I know you can do this. Just swing the sword around a little bit". When he handed her his sword, he squeezed her hand, then he took off towards the window to help the struggling Jace. Kara gripped the sword with both hands, just in time to block Conrads first hit. The blow almost knocked the sword out of her hands, but she swung back. This time, she caught him. The sword created a shallow cut across Conrad's chest, and he was just about to stab her throug the heart when he was hit with a ball of fire.
Jace climbed out from the window and lept onto the floor. He sprinted across the hall and grabbed the sword out of Kara's hand. Conrad lay crumpled on the floor, unarmed and beaten. Jace lifted the sword to stab him through the heart, when he shouted a few words of a different language, and whisked away into the wind. " DAMN IT" Jace yelled, punching the wall. " We almost had him!". He wore a look of fury on his face that Kara had never seen before. Erik climbed out of the window and towards Kara, surveyign the damage. Jace turned towards him and caught sight of Kara " Why do you have a piece of my curtain wrapped aroudn your waist?" he said raising an eyebrow. Kara looked down, then looked back up. " Conrad threw a dagger at me. It's to stop the bleeding". " Oh" Jace said, not replying with a nasty comment for once in his life. Erik walked over to Kara and put his arm around her " I'm taking her to the nurse" he said, his eyes full of concer. " Ok. I'm going to talk to the gaurds and chief of defense" Jace replied, looking Kara straight into her eyes. " You two have...fun" he said nastily, before whirling away in a huff. Erik rolled his eyes and steered Kara the other way as they continued down the hallway.
When they arrived at the nurse's quaters, Kara looked down to see that the blood from her wound had completely soaked her clothes. The blood had drenched her whole torso, and her cotton dress was sticking tight to her body. The metallic smell of blood filled the air, and Kara stumbled to the ground. " Oh dear. There she goes" said the nurse as she ran towards Kara to catch her. Kara fell to the ground, only to be caught in Erik's arms. Her eyes fluttered shut as she gave herself away to the darkness.
Kara dreamed of her mom. She was standing on the front porch of her house, waving wildly to Kara. " mom?" Kara said, breaking into a run towards the porch. Her mom grabbed her in her arms and held her close, sobbing. " Kara, honey, where did you go?" her mom cried between sobs. " mom" Kara just repeated, feeling stunned. " Shh shhh shh" her mom said. " Just promise me. Promise me! Promise you will never leave me again Kara Alexandria" her mom said, tears running down her face. " I promise mom" Kara said, holding her mom close. Her mom rocked her back and forth, sobbing with happiness that her daughter was back.
Kara awoke gently, her long eyelashes fluttering open. She tried to sit up, but her waist was too sore so she just fell back onto the bed in the infirmary. " Look who's awake" the nurse said coming over. " My name is Myra" she said looking at Kara with kind grey eyes. " You are a very lucky girl Kara. Erik explained to me what had happened" she said while pouring a glass of green liquid. " The nerve of those boys. Making you fight with a fatal wound? You are lucky to be alive! Those two are horrible" she said handing Kara the green drink. " Drink this sweetheart. It will help your scar go away". " My scar" Kara asked, looking down at where her gash should be. The only thing that remained was a thin scab, that went from her bellybutton to the end of her front right side. " What is this" Kara asked, peering into the drink to try and decipher what it was. " It's the honey from a Grentalo flower. It heals any and all wounds. It's the most powerful healer in this world. Only the royal have it." Myra said kindly. " Drink up". Kara lifted the goblet to her lips, and tentivly drank it. It tasted like green tea mixed with another herb. She could feel the drink spreading throughout her body, and watched in wonder as the scab began to fade. She started at what used to be a fatal would, baffled. " So It was Conrad that did that to you" Myra said, tucking a strand of blond hair behind her ear. " I came from one of the tribes he ruled up in the nordic parts" she said softly. " I ran here because his rule became to strict. I wanted my freedom, and I found it here" she added with a smile. " Conrad is not a good person, but mark my words, Erik and Jace are worse. They may give their people freedom, but there is something evil about them" she said looking straight at Kara. Myra then caught herself and quickly added " Please don't be telling anyone I said that". " I promise I won't" Kara said reassuringly. " I don't like them too much either" she added with a smile. Myra just smiled at her and said " Theres a bathroom in that room there if you need to freshen up. Call for me if you need anything. I've laid some new clothes out for you". Kara got out of bed, and walked into the bathroom.
After 15 minutes of scrubbing away dirt and blood, Kara emerged from the bathroom. Her golden curls bounced and gleamed, and she was wearing a new black dress with leggings and leather boots. She was all too happy when she took off her old dress. It still carried the death of little Mina, and her own blood.
When Kara entered the infirmary again, she was suprised to see Jace and Erik waiting for her. "Oh.." she said suprised as she raised her head, seeing the two boys waiting for her. " Hey" Erik said smiling. Jace just stared. " Hows your side" Jace added quickly, suprisingly looking sincerly concerned. " Much better. It's completely healed now" she replied quickly, sitting down on the made bed opposite them. " Thats good" Erik said. After a few seconds of silence, he spoke again " To me, It lookes like Conrad has taken a liking to you" " What are you talking about?!?!" Jace and Kara both said in unison, staring at Erik. " Well, it seemed like that to me.". " Are you crazy?" Kara said, staring at him. " Justl listen ok?" Erik said, getting frusterated. " I have a plan. We can use that to our advantage. You can get revenge" he pointed to Kara " and you can destroy him forever" he said rolling his eyes towards Jace. Kara and Jace looked at eachother for a moment, before Jace leaned forward and said " What do we have to do". Kara sighed and leaned forward too. What else did she have to live for?
