"How are you doing" Kara said with a sweet smile as she walked over to Erik's bed. "Great, even better now" Erik grinned. He tried to sit up, but winced and layed back down. "Here, let me help" Kara said, and leaned over to prop his pillow up. "Thanks Kara" Erik said as he held his side and gently eased himself up. "Are you feeling better?" Kara asked as she brought up a chair to sit next to him. "Not that good, but better then before" Erik said. "The bleeding has stopped. Now all I have to do is wait for the wound to heal". "And then you'll be better" Kara smiled. "So, what happened exactly.." she said her voice trailing off. "We got in and got the cup, a little too easily. It's when we were coming out we were ambushed. There were so many gaurds and I....well I got overpowerd. And then Jace flipped out when he saw and went on a killing rampage. Half of those guys were burnt and headless when we left.". "Oh Jace.." Kara said, putting her face in her hands. Erik laughed and then became serious. "It was dumb move in the end though. He's going to strike back, and it's going to be bad.". Kara sighed and said "So is he really that bad that I can't know about him?". "Yes" Erik said without a blink. "I don''t want you to ever meet him. Ever". He and Kara looked at eachother, and she felt something pass between them. "This is weird." she thought to herself. "Well, so how was your day yesterday.." Erik said quietly after the moment had gone. "Boring" Kara admitted."I was mostly in the library for the whole day. It wasn't as exciting as yours". Erik smiled and said "So, Jasper said you flipped when you umm....saw me". "Yes" Kara breathed. "I thought you were dead. It scared me to death". "It would take a lot more then a few stabs to kill me" Erik said smiling. "Well I'm just glad your ok. I don't know what Jace and I would do without you. Your the only one that keeps us sane". Erik laughed and said " Yeah, well it was worth it. Without that cup Jace would be.....". "THE RITUAL!" they both yelled, and Kara sprinted to the door. "Help me get out of this!!!" Erik yelled, struggling to get out of his bed. Kara raced over and grabbed what looked like a wheelchair. She helped Erik into it, then took off down the hallway.
The two reached Jace's room in 30 seconds, racing at top speed. "All of the supplies should be together in his room somewhere" Erik said as Kara flung the door open. The room was a mess, and they saw Jace in the corner of the large room. He was sitting on his gold window seat, writing something. When he saw Kara and Erik, both very frazzled and Erik in his wheelchair, he laughed. "You guys look so stupid" he snorted as he got up and walked over to them. "Whats the big issue". "The ritual. We have to do it, now" Erik said, looking exremely annoyed. "We ran here, because we thought you would be dead by now or something". "Silly boy" Jace said slapping Erik on the cheek. "I can't die". Kara rolled her eyes and said "Jace, lets just do this". Jace winked at her and walked over to get the supplies. The lump in Kara's throat grew as he pulled out the dagger. It was gold and encrusted with rubies, and still stained with Kara's dried blood. Erik began to mix herbs and spices into the liquid, and it slowly turned purple. Jace wrinkled his nose when he saw it and said "That is disgusting. I hate the way it tastes.". "Well would you rather die" Erik said irritated. Jace slapped his cheek again. "Ok, now for the other part...." Erik said nervously, holding up the dagger. Kara walked forward and held out her arm, squeezing her eyes shut. Erik moved the dagger towards Kara's arm, but hesitated. He tried to move the blade at several different angles, but didn't touch it to her skin. "I can't do it" he muttered and handed the dagger to Jace." No way" Jace said, his eyes widening. Kara, who at this point was annoyed, grabbed the dagger and sliced her arm. Warm blood spilled out, and a wave of pain hit her. Erik and Jace stood stunned, until Erik grabbed the dagger and dropped a few drops of blood in the purple mixture. Jace grabbed the gauze and began to wrap it around Kara's arm. "I'll do that. You drink" Erik said, and took the gauze from him. Jace looked at the liquid and wrinkled up his nose. He held it to his nose and sniffed it, and then made a face. "This is disgusting" he said before taking a sip, then drinking the whole thing. Erik finished wrapping her arm, and then said "Is it ok?". "It's fine" Kara said, inspecting her arm. Jace had now finished drinking the mixture and asked Kara "How could you cut your own arm" sounding amused. "I didn't think about it" Kara stammered, looking at them both. "Well, I guess it's good you can because neither of us could" Erik said and Jace snorted. Kara smirked and said "You guys aren't tough enough, thats why". Erik stopped laughing and Jace said "Excuse me missy, but Erik and I are tougher then any guy you've met in your own world". "Whatever you say" Kara said in a sing song voice causing Jace to huff in annoyance. Erik looked at Jace and rolled his eyes saying, "You should take it as a compliment we couldn't do it. It means we don't want you dead". "Oh well thank you" Kara said sarcastically. "You are very welcome" Jace said sweetly.
"So we are good for another month" Erik said as they left Jace's room. "Let's go down and take a stroll in the garden" Jace said. "The three musketeers" Kara smirked. "What is a musk....a musketeer..?" Erik stumbled giving Kara a weird look. "Nothing" she said laughing to herself. "Something from her world probably" Jace said bumping against Kara. In the matter of a few seconds, the atmosphere changed. Kara's emotions went from being happy and care-free, to nervous and tense. She looked at Erik and Jace, and saw that the other two boys had felt it too. They were standing in a small clrearing, filled with purple flowers. The flowers cast a purple haze over the scenery, making Kara feel sick. "Maybe we should go back..." Kara said, looking around. "That's a great idea" Jace said, wheeling Erik around. They started walking back the path they had came, when Kara felt something brush up beside her. She gasped and turned around, seeing nothing. "You ok?" Erik said from his wheelchair, looking concerned. "I think so" Kara said, eyeing the bushes and trees. The wind whistled gently in the trees, making the hairs on the back of Kara's neck stand up. She briskly turned around and walked back to the castle. Jace wheeled Erik faster to catch up with her. He didn't say anything, but he had felt something too.
