Kara forgot to breathe, and her heart started beating faster and faster. The two figures began to advance upon them, and Conrad's face grew grim. He picked up Kara'a dagger and turned to stare at the figures as they were illumintated in the torchlight. Jace was the first to appear, and as his eyes caught Kara's, he cast her a look of pure hate and disgust. Kara just stood there and looked from one boy to the other. Erik came up behind her and gave her a sad look, before looking away. Kara's heart grew heavy, as she realized what Conrad had been saying was true. " The ritual is all they care about" she said to herself, her heart aching with  sadness. Jace was the first to speak " Lets make this quick" he snarled, his eyes still locked on Kara. She sent him a hateful look back, which caused him to look suprised, before looking away. " Just let the poor girl go" Conrad said looking at Kara, the dagger still clutched in his hands. Jace shook his head " We need her. No matter how much I hate her". Kara's sadness quickly turned to hatred, and her blood boiled in her skin. The fighting broke out then and there. Before anyone could react, Conrad had plunged Kara's dagger straight into Jace's chest with a triumphent look. Jace looked down, and looked at Erik. The two dissolved into a fit of laughter, and Conrad stood there looking dumbfounded. " It can't be.." he said his eyes wide. The he turned to Kara " You must be the reason..." he said looking at her a different way. " We need to get you out of here" he said, his eyes alarmed. Jace and Erik were still laughing, as Jace pulled the dagger out of his chest and threw it on the ground. " Nice try Conny-boy. But It's going to take a lot more then that to kill me" he said nastily. " Erik, take Kara out of here.". " I'll kill him". As Erik moved towards Kara, Conrad punched him. " Run Kara!" he yelled, fighting with both Erik and Jace now. Kara scopped up her dagger and ran, tryign to get as far away from the fights as possible.

She tore her mask off as she ran, hot tears now running down her face. She could hear people running after her, and screamed as she dodged a blast of fire. She reached a door and threw it open, slamming it shut and locking it as quickly as she could. Her chest heaved up and down as she sobbed, and turned around to look at the room she had entered. Stairs. Kara lifted her skirts and began to climb. She was almost to the top when she hear the door explode, and began to run faster. When she reached the top, all she saw was a small room of a tower, with a balcony. She heard yelling at the bottom of the stairs, and in an instant, Jace and Erik were at the top with her.

Jace stared at Kara, who was standing at the balcony of the small room. Her green eyes were filled with tears, and her hair was now tumbling down her shoulders. The dagger was clutched in her hands, she stared at the two boys with hatred. Jace's heart sunk as he saw the way she looked at him. He lowered his head, and brought it back up. " What have I done.." he thought to himself.

" Put the dagger down. We're leaving" Jace said looking at Kara, almost guiltily. " No" Kara replied, her chin quivering. Erik rolled his eyes and stepped towards her. " Kara, whether you like it or not, we need you. Jace and I were discussing things earlier, and he's agreed to be nicer to you. We need you more then you know, more then just the ritual" Erik pleaded, looking scared. " What for" Kara asked, softer this time. " Other problems we have" Erik said, while Jace shushed him. " I'm not going anywhere with you two....monsters!" Kara said, looking misreable. " We are truly sorry Kara" Jace said looking up at her, his blue eyes looking sad. " I know I haven't treated you properly, and I really am sorry about that." he said quietly. " I promise you, things will change" he added. " Now we have to leave!" Erik pleaded! " Conrad will have his gaurds on us in minutes!". Kara was so conflicted inside. " Please" Jace said looking straight into Kara's heart. Kara's eyes teared up, and she lowered her face to the ground so neither of them would see." Please" Jace repeated, his voice pained. "Fine" Kara said looking back up again. " Fine"

They had to leave the town that night, since the streets were thick with soldiers searching every crevice of the town. They traveled to a town 15 miles away, before settling into a hotel and finally sleeping. When Kara woke up, she dressed in a soft grey dress and black leggings, with black leather boots. She put her hair into a ponytail, and walked down to the carriage. She noticed, as she walked downstairs, that people were staring at her. The stares made her uncomfortable, as she continued outside towards the carriage. " Wheres this little girl going" said a tall boy with red hair and freckles. Kara tried to step around him, but was met by his four other friends. They formed a circle around her, and began to talk to her. " What's your name" one asked " Look at how long her legs are" said another. One boy began playing with her hair, and Kara slapped his hand away. " You little bitch" the boy slurred, obviously drunk. He was just about to hit Kara back when someone cleared their throat. The boys all turned around to see Jace, standing behind them looking amused. " There you are sweetie" he said to Kara walking towards her and putting his hand in hers. " Where these people bothering you?" he said roughly to the boys. Their eyes widened as they realized who they were talking to you. " King Jace.." one of them muttered, as the rest went to bow down. " Just what I thought" Jace said, as he kicked the one who was about to slap Kara. " Let's leave" Jace snapped. " I don't want these vermin in my presence anymore". He led Kara away from the boys, and into the carriage where Erik was waiting.

"Thanks" Kara said to Jace, shaken up from what had just happened. " Anytime" Jace replied, still looking out the window at the boys who looked scared. Erik looked out the window and said " What happened". " Let's just say Kara has four new boyfriends" Jace said to Kara, making her blush. Erik snorted at Jace and turned away. Kara leaned her head against her hand, and closed her eyes. She needed lots of time to think about what had just happened.
