Kara finally reached Erik just as he was running out the door. "Jace" he yelled, already soaked. "What are you doing?" he screamed. Jace turned and said "Nothing! Get out of here you ass!". He then turned back around to the person he was talking too. The sillhoutte was covered in a raggidy grey cloak, covered with holes and snags. Kara stepped out into the rain, squinting to get a closer look at the figure in the cloak. Erik followed her and the two walked up behind Jace. Jace turned around and pushed them both away. "This is my buisness. Get out" he snapped angirly. The figure turned back towards Jace, and Kara stooped to try and get a look at the face. She did. Her breath caught in her chest and she gasped. She pushed Jace out of the way and threw the hood back. "Marcus" she whispered, looking at the geeky boy with glasses who had been in her 3rd hour history class.

"Kara..." he said with a pang of guilt in his voice, looking sad. "You two KNOW eachother" Jace said, sounding horrified. "He was in one of my classes at school...." Kara muttered, not taking her eyes off of Marcus. "School...?" Jace said, annoyed. "Why are you here?" Kara said to Marcus, not taking her eyes off of him. "I....I..." he started but Jace shot him a "shut up or I'll kill you" look. "Jace" Kara turned to Jace, her eyes full of question. "What?" Jace said quickly. "Why is he here?". "I live here...." Marcus muttered. Jace kicked him and he fell to the ground. "Jace!" Kara screeched and helped Marcus up. "Thanks again..." he muttered pushing his glasses back into place. Jace suddenly reminded Kara of Brent. "My foot slipped.." Jace said plainly. "Lets go inside. I hate being wet" Erik said from behind. He grabbed Jace's arm and hauled him in. Marcus followed, and then Kara from behind.

About 10 minutes later, when they were all changed and dry, they met at the dining room table for some tea. " So you never answered my question" Kara said, looking at Marcus. "I'm the king and I forbid you to answer her question" Jace said cockily. Kara kicked him under the table, and he kicked her back. "Answer my question" Kara said angirly, ignoring Jace. "Did you not just hear what I said" Jace said nastily. "Shutup for once, God!" Kara snapped back. Jace narrowed his eyes and said " Looks like someone wants to spend a night in the rain". "Maybe you should" Kara snapped back. "It'll wash away all your arrogance and rudeness.". " Or maybe we should cut your head off and parade it around the castle.". Jace said, pissed off. "Maybe you should" Kara said back. "I'd rather have that then have to spend another second with you!". With that she scooted back her chair and walked out of the room. "I'm not done here!" Jace yelled, getting up to follow her. When the two were gone, Marcus turned to Erik. "Do they always fight like that?". "Kind of" Erik admitted. "It's because they like eachother. Lets go to the weapons room."

Kara walked to her room with Jace walking behind her, yelling all sorts of obscuritys at her. "You make NO SENSE!!" she screamed back. " WHY ARE YOU SO NOSY!" Jace yelled at her. "I"M NOT!" Kara screamed back. "Why are you so secretive!!!!!". "GOD! your such a bitch!!!" Jace yelled at her, sending a fire ball barely missing her. Kara whirled around. "What the hell Jace?!?!" she said. Jace was standing behind her, looking half infuriated and half guilty. "What is WRONG with you!!" she screamed at him. He came up to her and snarled. "This is MY country!! Not yours! If I tell you you can't know something, then you can't!!! You do as I say!! Your an insignificant little girl and NOTHING you say matters. NOTHING!!!". Kara stood there, dumbfounded. Her breath caught in her throat and her heart stopped beating. She and Jace just stared at eachother for a while before he said "Kara I....". "Shutup" she mumbled numbly. She whirled around and walked to her room. Jace cringed at the sound of the door slamming shut. He punched the wall and banged his head against it. "I am a JACKASS" he roared. " You killed her" Ashe said coming up behing him. "She's never going to forgive you, or trust you again. You blew it like you always do Jace" after his little speech, he turned and walked away leaving Jace to drown in his own misery.

Kara slammed her bedroom door as loud as she could. "GOD! I HOPE HE DIES!!" she screamed in her head. She ran over and one by one threw her pillows against the wall. "You can rot in hell for all I care" she said to the door. All of a sudden, Erik burst into her room. He surveyed the pillows on the floor and Kara's tear streamed face. "Ashe told me what happened, but I didn't think it was that bad..." he said walking over to Kara, and sitting down on the bed next to her. "You didn't deserve that.." he said quietly. "I don't even know that Marcus kid. Jace is just being Jace. It's who he is. He's selfish, greedy, and stuck up. But he's not that bad. He's been my best friend since I was 5, I know how he really is. It's all an act. He just doesn't want to get hurt." Erik put his arm aroud Kara and she leaned her head on his shoulder, silently crying. "He cares about you. He really does.". "Well he has a weird way of showing it" Kara muttered, sitting back up and drying her eyes. "So, how do you know Marcus" Erik asked. "He was in one of my classes back at my school. My friend, well he used to make fun of him and play practical jokes on him. One day, he went to far, and I took him to the nurse's office. Thats it". She left out the part of him kissing her hand, suddenly becoming embarassed about it. " Erik, I want to go home" she blurted out suddenly. Erik looked at her with a pained expression on her face. " I wish you could Kara, I really do". He squeezed her hand and sat up from the bed, walking out of the room.

"Jace, you really blew it" Erik snapped as he walked into his friends room. Jace was sitting at his desk, reading a book. He didn't say anything, he just looked up at Erik and glared. "I don't need another person telling me that" he snapped. "Well I was just talking to her, and you wanna know what she said? She said she wants to go home" Jace looked up. "She knows she can't.". "We can find a ritual. Another one that, cancels out her ritual or something. Jace she really wants to go home" Erik pleaded. "I don't want her to leave" Jace muttered looking down. "Well then treat her like you don't want her to leave" Erik said softly, and walked out of the room.

Kara didn't come down for dinner. She sat in her room until late at night. "I want to go home" she repeated to herself over and over. She walked over to her balcony and stared out into the garden that lay below her. She heard someone come up behind her, and turned around. "What are you doing here?" she said to Jace. She wanted the words to come out angry, but instead they came out sad. "Kara, I need to talk to you" he said misreably. She turned away. He ignored it, and came to stand next to her. "When I was 10" he said. "My parents, along with Ashe's, Marc's, Jasper's and Erik's were murdered. I had to take the throne. I didn't know how to run a country, especially without my parents." Kara didn't say anything. "I cried myself to sleep every night. I can still remember when I found my mom's body in the garden.". Kara looked over at Jace. He had tears streaming down his face. "I never recovered from that. All the anger, and hate I have. The arrogance and meaness, is because of that. I've never forgotten, and I never will". He turned towards Kara and said "God Kara, please forgive me. I swear I will never treat you like that again. You have no idea how much you mean to me". Kara turned towards him and said "Jace, I'm so sorry that happened. I really truly am. I....I know how it feels though.". Jace looked into her eyes. "My dad, he was diagnosed with cancer, its a disease. He was slowly dying. One day, I went up to read to him...he loved to read....and I found that he had slipped away..." Kara finishd, looking out into the starry night sky. Jace slipped his arm around her waist. The two didn't say anything, they had said enough. Kara rested her head against Jace's shoulder, and he pulled her closer. The two gazed into the starry night sky peacefully.
