"So, I figured now you would want to be introduced to the person behind all of this" Carson gestured to the castle. "Well yes!" Kara exclaimed, leaning forward. "Well I've talked to him and he seems to think that we need to wait.....at least until after the first invasion.". "Invasion?" Karar repeated, her eyes widening. "We're invading Jace?". "Yes." Carson said without a blink. "Well. when?" Kara said, stunned. "Soon." Carson replied. "For what reason?" Kara said, nervously. "We need to get the supplies for the ritual, those things are most important for now. Take the supplies and the bastard can't complete the task. We just have to do it so quickly and quietly that they don't even know we're there. The first time we met, It was so easy for me to get in and out. Of course, I still had to be careful. Now the castle will be on the highest alert possible, but it will still be easy". Kara was dumbfounded. "It's all happening this fast" she said. "It's the only way it can happen" Carson replied. "Wait things out and the tension rises. It's better to do things in the heat of everything. You can just slip through all the fighting". "Well ok. So what's the plan and everything..." Kara said, resting her elbows on the table. "We sneak in. Get what we need and leave. Don't get in a fight. Don't give ourselves away. That easy". "Ok when" Kara asked, shaking. "We leave in 10 minutes". "10 MINUTES??" Kara yelled, standing up in her chair. "Easy. Easy" Carson said, motioning her to sit down. "Don't get nervous. I'll protect you". "Now let's go".
Carson led Kara to a small room. In the center was a pool, glowing with green and purple lights. Carson strolled over to the pool and stepped in. He motioned for Kara to come in. She walked over to the edge and peered in. "It's a portal. We aren't going swimming" Carson said, almost reading her mind. Kara cautiosly stepped in, expecting to feel the warm water against her legs. Insead, the water was dry and felt like warm sand against her legs. Carson grabbed Kara's hand, and intertwined his fingers in hers. His eyes were closed, so he couldn't see Kara blushing. "Newvalia palace" he spoke, and the world went black. Kara's vision was lost, but she could still feel Carsons hand in hers. Finally, there was a light. They slowly walked towards it, and with a flash, they landed. Kara opened her eyes, and her heart did a complete 360. They were in her old room.
Kara felt her mouth open in shock, and she saw Carson look over at her. " You've been here?" he said, looking around. "This was my old room..." she murmered, pulling her hand away and Carsons. "Oh thats awkward." Cason said as he walked over to the door. He put his ear against it and listened. Kara looked around the room, and memories flashed back to her one by one. "Kara" Carson said, waking her from her trance. "Time to go"
Jace
Jace lay sprawled on his bed, arms outstretched. His breath rose and fell calmly in his chest, and he didn't move or think about anything. The afternoon sun shone through his gold spun curtains, casting a golden glow across the large room. His heart wasn't hurting, or bleeding like he thought it would. Instead of his emotions flowing out of him like they should, he didn't feel any emotions. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, letting go of everything. Committing to the fact that in a month he would be dead. Instead of his heart feeling broken, it felt like he had no heart. Slowly, he lifted himself up and left the mess behind him.
Erik
Erik sat on the steps of a church in the small village where he had spent the last four hours looking for Kara. The sun beat down on his back, and dust filled the air from the wagons that rumbled by. Erik rubbed his face in his hands, his heart heavy. "I'm never going to see her face again" Erik said outloud by accident. He leaned back on his hands and stared up into the sun. Suddenly, something began to happen that had never happend before. Erik began to cry.
Kara
Jace had just left his room, and Kara couldn't believe what she saw. He looked like a whole other person. His playful beautiful blue eyes usually expressed some sort of emotion, but they were dead. He looked like a statue that came to life. "He deserves it" Kara said to herself as she scowled. "They all deserve it"
"Go now" Carson hissed from her side, gently pushing her towards the door. Kara bolted and slid through the doors right before they closed. She was now alone in Jace's room. She narrowed her eyes and glanced around the room. "The cave of the devil" she thought to herself. Carson suddenly appeared by her side and cleared his throat. Kara remembered what they were here for, and went over to the table where the supplies were. In the exact same place were the dagger and cup. Kara swallowed as she gave the cup to Carson and reached for the dagger. Electricity shot up her fingers as her hand made contact with the cold metal. The dagger brought back so much pain. Kara gripped it in her hand and stood up quickly. "Lets get out of here" she said to Carson who smiled at her, grabbed her hand, and whisked her back to the underground palace.
When they arrived, Carson quickly excused himself to go put they items in a safe place. Kara watched him go with trembling hands. "What did I just do..." she thought to herself. "Jace will die...". She instantly hit herself for caring. "Think Kara. LOOK what he DID TO YOUR LIFE. He deserves this, and worse.". Still, there was a constant nagging in the pit of her stomach that warned her things were far from over. Things were far from ok. She may have just made the biggest mistake she could have ever made in this world.
