Kara walked to her new room and threw open the door. It was simple, but elegant. The clean marble floors gleamed against the solid gold walls. A four poster wooden white bed with white sheets stood in the far corner, and on the other side stood a small desk. A small bookshelf was built into the wall, and filled with  books Kara had never heard of. A salty sea breeze blew through the double glass doors, lifting the white silk curtains. They danced through the air, twisting and turning in the breeze. Kara walked out on her large balcony, and gazed at the sea below. The sky blue waters lapped gently against the black said, creating patterns as the washed to shore. "Beautiful isn't it" someone said. Kara looked to her left, and standing on the balcony next to hers was Jace. "I've been coming here ever since I was a kid. It was my place to think". "It's peaceful" Kara said, leaning her elbow on the railing. "I like it". Jace smiled and said "I used to go galloping through those waters, pretending I was a night". He then blushed, realizing what he had just said. Kara turned towards him smiling and said "Wait...what?". "Just pretend like you didn't hear that" Jace said, looking out into the ocean. "I don't know, Erik would love to know that" Kara said softly, her hair gently lifted by the breeze. "I swear Kara, if you tell him..." Jace started, flashing her a mischevious smile. "I won't.." Kara said, her voice trailing off as her eyes were captivated by the sea.

"Took you a while" Jace said as Kara stepped out of her room and into the hallway. "I just needed some time to relax" she yawned. "So I was thinking we could......." his voice trailed off as he stopped in the middle of the hallway. "Jace..." Kara said, touching his hand. She seemed to have woken him from a trance. "Sorry" he muttered, before walking on. "Is everything alright..." Kara asked, touching his shoulder. "I'm just great" Jace said, grabbing Kara by the waist and kissing her head. They continued to walk down the hallway, before Jace exploded. "Thats it" he snarled and turned around, hurling a fire red ball of flames towards the end of the long corridor. "What are you doing!" Kara screamed, covering her face to block the flying sparks. Jace didn't respond, instead he ran straight into the flames exploding from the end of the hallway. "Jace!" Kara screamed, coughing and choking on the smoke that had now filled the air. The hallway filled with smoke, and Kara collapsed on the ground, gasping for air. Her lungs were clogged with smoke, and her eyes were stinging with dust. She grasped the edge of a side table, and hauled herself to her feet. She collapsed again because of the lack of air. The smoke was getting heavier, and Kara could hear explosions from the distant. "People are fighting" she thought to herself, and her stomach lurched. She began to crawl. Through the billowing sheets of smoke until she reached a side door. She flung it open and threw herself on the ground, gasping for air. When she looked up, all she saw was the clear blue sky and the tower of smoke that grew every second.

Kara got up on her feet and began to dust herself off. Her skin was covered with a thin coating of ash, and her eyes were still watering. "What the hell is going on" she thought to herself as she ran away from the castle, hearing more explosions. She put her hands on her knees and bent over, coughing. She coughed and coughed into her hands, and when she looked at them she saw blood. Not noticing, she wiped her hands on the grass and started to run to the front of the castle.

As she neared the front gates of the castle, she heard voices. "Did you see her come out the side gate?" she heard Jace yell over the roars of the flames. "I didn't see her anywhere!!" she heard Erik scream back. "I'm going back in!" Jace cried. Kara ran around the corner just in time to see Jace running up to the door. He caught sight of her just as he was about to go back in, and began to run towards her. He grabbed her and twirled her around, hugging her. "God Kara! You scared me to death!"   he yelled over the fire. "Jace what' s going on!" she yelled. "Why did you do that! I'm tired of not knowing. Tell me now! I'm in this as deep as you are now!". Jace's blue eyes grew wide and troubled. "Fine" he whispered, barely audible. "But not here".
