Kara almost puked from the feeling in her stomach. She leaned her hand against the wall to stabilize herself, and her face contorted into a look of horror. She finally processed everything she had done. "It's like I've been asleep this whole time or something.". "Who cares about Jace.....Erik is my friend! Well probably not since our fight, but I still care about him! Through all of this, he could end up hurt, or dead.". "God I was so STUPID!!" she yelled, smashing her head against the wall and biting her lip. Jace had always warned her how horrible these people were. At the chance of going home, she had fallen right into their trap. Carson knew all along who she was, he had no intention of letting her get home. Her rage at Jace had blinded all judgement that she had one had. She felt weak in the knees and crumpled down onto the floor. "What have I done" she moaned out loud. "I need to fix this. Jace, I need you" she said, a tear streaking down her face. "Your mean and arrogant and you say things that make me want to disappear but I need you!". Thinking she heard someone, she quickly dried her eyes and stood up. It was only Petra. "Kara!" Petra said brightly. "I was hoping I would run into you! I wanted to take you to this really nice resturaunt where-" "Thanks but I'm just going to go to bed" Kara said quickly. "I'm exhausted from the um, portal stuff I had to do today. Thanks anyways! Maybe tomorrow night". She quickly turned on her heel and walked briskly down the hallway to her room. When she got to her room, she locked the door and sat on her bed. "Now that's an easy decoy. Taking me around the city so I wouldn't be able to know what Carson and........the other are planning. God I've been so STUPID" she said to herself. "I need help. I'm in way too deep. Jace was right. I've fallen right into their trap. It really was better not knowing".
Kara laid on her bed for a few hours just thinking. "I can't get back through the city cavern. Someone would see me. The pool...?" she thought to herself, picturing the green and purple lights that swam around. "I could probably go there If i could.". She sat up in bed. Most of the lights from the city had gone off, making Kara think it was night. Quietly and briskly, she changed clothes and opened her door. The hallway was deserted, with not a soul in sight. Kara waited for a moment before slipping out, becoming apart of the darkness.
She tried to remember the way to the pool room, but her memory was foggy. "Think..." she thought to herseld. All of a sudden, voices traveled down the empty corridor. "Find her. Don't let her escape. She's a smart girl she would have broken free and figured it out anyways" a different male voice said. It sounded strangely familiar. Kara backed up against the wall and held her breath. The two voices got closer, and Kara recognized Carson. "No more waiting. When we find her, it happens tonight. Time gives room for mistake". Kara's eyes rounded in panic as she bit back a scream. Soon, the voices disappeared, and Kara slowly emerged from her hiding spot. Quickly, she continued down the hallway until she found a door. The door to the pool room. Gaurded by a gaurds "Lovely" she thought.
The gaurd looked to be about in his late 40's and very tired. "Wait until they fall asleep?" Kara thought, knowing that would never happen. Trying to back up, she accidently hit her elblow on a vase, causing it to hit the wall and fall with a crack. "Come out now" a voice demanded, and Kara slowly creeped out from the dark. The soldier looked at Kara with a supridsed look on his face. His features softened, and a look of pity crossed his face. "Are you she?" he whispered, in awe. "The Isla". "Yes" Kara said softly, eyes filled with tears. The old mant waited before speaking again "You are supposed to be gaurded, not hunted. Your power worshiped, not used. You need to be free, not captive. These people are all using you for your strength. Go now. You know what you have to do". The gaurd then moved away from the door and slumped agains the wall. "Go" he hissed without opening his eyes. Kara understood what he was saying and walked over to the door. Before she left she said "You are brave" and slipped through the door. The pool was as beautiful as ever. Green and purple lights cascading acros sthe walls. Kara did not hesitate this time, and almost ran in to the pool. With a deep breath, she said "Newvalian palace" and the darkness swallowed her up once again.
It seemed like forever before she entered the castle. She landed in a hallway on the east side, and it was the dead of night. Her heart flipped as she realized she was safe, and she took off running. As soon as she reached the door to Erik's room, she began pounding on his door. After the 4th pound the door swung open, and there was Erik, in his pajamas, looking extremely frightened. The two stared at eachother before Erik grabbed Kara, picked her up and swung her around. "GOD KARA!!!" he yelled as he hugged her. "WHAT HAPPENED WHERE WERE YOU?" he yelled as he hugged her. "Erik listen to me" Kara said panicked as she pulled him away. He regained composure. "I did something HORRIBLE" she started sobbing now. "It was Carson. I made a deal with him..he told me I could go home if i helped him get the supplies for the ritual and the isla! I thought I could end up tricking him but he knew all along! I wans't even really thinking everything was all foggy and I felt more hatred then I have ever felt and I just didn't know what to do! and then I realized how you were going to get hurt and I got scared and I tried to get out and then Carson knew and went after me and was going to kill me tonight and I just don't know what to do!!!!" Kara exclaimed tears rolling down her cheeks. Erik looked stunned. "He manipulated you" he said staring off into space. "Of all the low lying spells- " he growld but Kara shut him out mid sentence. "I NEED HELP" she screamed taking his hand. "Calm down. Just calm down" Erik said. "No I can't!!! I've betrayed everyone and now everyone is going to DIE because of me!" she said hypreventilating. "Kara listen, it's going to be fine. We need to go get Jace now, don't worry. It will be ok. Let's go. Can you walk?". Kara slowly nodded her head, her chest rising up and down rapidly. "It's going to be ok Kara" Erik repeated, pulling her in for a hug. "It's all going to be fine".He lied, and kissed her forhead, Pulling away he said "We need to go get Jace now, ok?". It sounded like he was talking to a 6 year old. Feeling helpless Kara took his hand and the two began to walk to Jace's room.
Halfway to Jace's room, Erik began to walk faster and then run. Kara could see in his eyes that he was panicked, and her heart broke for making him feel this way. As soon as they reached Jace's bedroom door, Erik began to pound like Kara had. Jace answered the door quickly and when he opened it and saw Erik, he slammed it shut. "JACE OPEN THE MOTHERF-" Erik started to scream but Jace reopened the door and interrupted "Please tell me the reason your screaming at 2 in the morning". "We have a HUGE PROBLEM!" Erik said panicked. Jace looked at Kara and said "Oh I see. Kara' s back". His voice was cold and meaningless but when Kara looked into his eyes she saw pain. Pain that she had brought to him. She wanted to die. "Jace please this is serious." she pleaded. He turned to her and saw the horror on her face. He stiffned and said "It's him, isn't it." . "Carson" Erik said. "Well not as bad as I was thinking" Jace said, folding his arms. Kara procedded to tell him everything she had told Erik, and she saw the rage build up on his face. "He put a spell on you. One that causes a person to be so blinded by rage they can't even think straight. You weren't the same person.". "Jace I...." Kara started but Jace held his hand up. "Erik go get dressed. We're going into battle" Jace said almost sadly. Erik gave Jace a long look, and then turned down the hallway.
Kara and Jace were left alone in Jace's room. Kara waited until Jace was done changing before talking. "Jace, I can't believe I betrayed you." she said softly. "I promise you I will do whatever I can to reverse this. I would die for you and Erik to make this up to you. I felt so different then I've ever felt before. So much hate I could hardly contain myself. I deserve to die for this.". "Kara.....don't beat yourself up about this. Don't even think of taking the whole blame for this and don't even SAY you deserve to die because you don't! I knew the situation we were all under. You were already mad at me, I shouldn't have enraged you like that. It was a perfect opportunity for Carson. To catch you at your weakest. I should have never let you go alone. That was the most horid mistake. I fell into the trap as much as you did". Kara stared at him. "Please forgive me Kara. Your the most beautiful, amazing person. I don't deserve you. I can only ask for you to forgive me". " Jace was never angry with you. I just wanted to be angry at you, I couldn't. I forgive you. I do." Jace smiled. "What are we going to do" she whispered. "Fight. It's the only thing we can do" Jace replied. "Jace, I am so so sorry. Everything is my fault. People are going to die now. Please forgive me." she began to cry. "Hey, hey" Jace said softly, taking her face in his hands. "Don't cry. We can do this. We can win it.I forgive you". "Why?" Kara whispered. "I've ruined everything for you. Your country, your life and your friends lives are at stake because of me. Why??".
"Forgivness is a necessary part of love".
