After a long trip to the infirmary, which involved Myra screaming at Jace for about 10 minutes while he laughed, Kara was exhausted. "So tell me" she said. "What exactly happened with Conrad". "Well, I walked into your room to talk to you, and I saw him 'kidnapping' you, you could put it. And thats when the fight broke out". "Somehow, he drugged you. Did you drink anything weird..?" he asked, his voice trailing off. "Not that I know of" Kara sighed, pushing some stray curls out of her eyes. "Well, anyways....listen.." Jace said awkwardly, lifting his head so their eyes met. Kara's heart fluttered in her chest. "I want to tell you.....well actually talk to you about..." he said but was interrupted. Jasper came down the hallway and said "Ashe needs you" smacking him on the shoulder and winking at Kara. 10 seconds later, Erik tore down the hallway with a bunch of papers. He tripped, sending them all flying. "Whoops" he smirked, bending down to pick the papers up. Jasper gave him a "what are you doing!?!" look and helped him pick the papers up. Jace rolled his eyes and turned back to Kara and said "I better go help these two. You get some rest of?" he said gently giving her a smile and walking away.
Kara walked back to her room and locked the door. She walked over to make sure that the door to the balcony was locked, before jumping into the shower. While she was drying her hair, she looked at herself in the mirror. Her large green eyes were as captivating as ever, but they were filled with sadness. Her skin was paler then ever, and her usually neat honey curls were scattered because of the pond water. She looked nothing like herself. Just a week ago, she was a normal girl. Kara was suddenly overwhelmed with emotions. She bit her tounge to keep from crying, and tried to look strong.
It was about 6 o clock when Kara woke up. The first thing she remembered was her search for the book. "Erik's room" she thought. She quickly got dressed and french braided her hair, clipping her bangs out of her eyes. "Everyones probably at dinner. I should be fine" she thought to herself. She quietly padded down the hall to Erik's room, and opened the door. The room was a complete mess. Clothes and books were strewn everywhere, and the bed was still messy from when Conrad last slept. Kara began kicking the piles over, and looking through the books. She went through all the drawers and made her way to the closet. She quickly moved the shirts and pants back and forth, looking for anything that could be hidden. She just about missed it. A small tiny drawer hidden behind a pile of pants. She hastily opened it, only to find it was empty. "Ughhh" she groaned, walking out of the closet and back into the room. She began to search under the bed, and through other piles. She suddenly stopped, thinking she heard someone walking down the hall. She turned to run, but tripped over a pile of books and fell to the ground. When she fell, her elbow knocked down one of the small boards that made up the bed frame. She lay on her phone and gripped her elbow until the pain went away. When she finally stood up, she surveyed the damage. The board was only pulled up a little, nothing too noticable. A glint of silver caught Kara's eye under the board. She lifted it, but it wouldn't come loose. She pulled until the whole board came up. Under the board, lye a silver leather bound book. "Why else would it be under there" Kara thought to herslelf, smiling. "Erik and Jace aren't the only smart ones here"
She only opened the book after she had madei t safely to her room. She made sure the door was locked behind her, and then proceded to open the book. The leafed through the pages, her mouth dorpping in horror at some of the other rituals. One ritual involded switching brains and hearts, so that the two people would be able to access the spirit world freely. Kara wondered if Jace and Erik had tried that. She was only on the 5th page when she came to her ritual. Kara sucked in her breath as she read the page.
...involves a drop of the victims blood every month. If not done each month, the immortal will disolve into the wind and be lost forever. A special blade must be used, carved from an acapol stone of the underworld. A special type of blood, type 789 must be used. This blood is commonlny mistaken for type 0 and is very rare.
"Well that helps a little..." Kara thought to herself as she flipped the page after looking at the drawing on how to mix the potion. It was filled with herbs and sap of flowers Kara had never heard before. The next thing she read made her heart stop for about 3 seconds.
In order to achieve all powers of the element and the highest stage immortality, all the blood of the victim must be shed. You then must take the blood, and mix it with your own and pour it over your wound. The transformation will take place approximately 3 hours after ther ritual is completed and....
Kara stopped reading. She had read enough. She didn't feel scared, only angry. "This is what they've planned all along" she thought angirly to herself. In a fit of rage, she picked up the book and hurled it against the wall. It made a loud thunking sound before it crashed to the ground, landing on an open page. Her blood was boiling and she had never felt so angry before. "I should have listened to Conrad" she thought to herself, whacking her forhead with her hand repeatidly. Quikly sliding off her bed, she ran over and grabbed the book, clutching it to her chest. She ran over to the door and flung it open, and began to run down the hall. She didn't even know where she was going, she just kept running hoping she would find someone or something to help her.
She didn't even realize she was by the conference room until she ran into Jasper. "Oh..well hello" he said suprised. "Where are your shoes..?" he asked arching his eyebrows. Then he caught sight of the book in her arm. He violently swung open the door and shouted inside "Jace, Erik, come here". The two boys hastily walked out of the room, and when Jace caught sight of Kara he smiled. Then he saw the book in her arms. "Why..?" Erik asked questionly, pointing to the book. Kara responded by throwing it to him. He caught it and stared at her. "You went looking for it" Jace said, looking betrayed. "I want to know what the ritual is about, since its going to happen every month" Kara snapped. She was done with these two. She never wanted to see them again. "Well if you wanted to know anything you scould have just asked" Jasper said butting in. Jace glared at him. "And have you tell me what" Kara said, her voice shaking. "The same old shit you always tell me? Lie to me? I wanted to know the truth for once" she said her eyes narrowing. "You know I wouldn't have lied to you.." Jace snapped back, looking angry. "I know you would have" Kara sneered. "I also found out about the other ritual" Kara added, glaring at them. "So when were you planning on cutting my head or my leg off so you can have even more power?" she was yelling now. ""We werent planning on doing that" Erik said exasperantly. "Well what were you going to do when Jace got tired of this immortality?" Kara said, tears forming in her eyes. "Just stop this and listen!" Jasper yelled reaching out to grab Kara's arm. "Don't you dare touch me!" she snarled, jumping backwards. Jace moved closer "Kara?" he said, looking sad. "Don't!" she screamed turning around and running away.
Kara took off down the hall and rounded the corner running as fast as her body allowed her. She heard Jace yell at Jasper and Erik "You go that way, and you go that way!". She continued to run and heard footsteps behind her. She was just about to turn around when an arm grabbed hers. Jace. He spun her around, and Kara prepared her fist to punch him. Instead, all she felt were her lips against his, as his arms wound around her waist, bringing her closer to him.
