With every step they took, Kara's heart sunk deeper and deeper. She would occasionally peek over at either Jace or Erik. Erik would be staring straight ahead, eyes forward. Jace would turn his face towards hers and smirk, then turn away. In the middle of the crowd Kara caught sight of Mina. The tiny girls eyes were large with fright, and filled with tears. She was looking around wildly, trying to find something to do about her friend. Kara looked her straight in the eye and nodded, trying to tell her it would be ok. Mina turned around, and disappeared into the crowd. When they got to the entrance of the city, Jace and Erik handed Kara over to the gaurds. Her hands were yanked behind her back roughly and her wrists were tied together with a large piece of rope. It dug into her wrists, and her arms were twisted at a painful angle. " I will not show any pain" Kara thought to herself as she bit her tounge to try and supress the hot tears she felt coming. As they were walking to the large carriage, Kara stumbled and fell onto the dusty ground. Without hands to catch her, the fall was very painful.
Mina watched from behind a tree, her eyes flicking between Kara and Jace. She was thinking to herself, wondering what the best time to strike was. Her mind wrapped deviously around the plan that had developed in her mind. Her heart skipped a beat as her and wrapped around the dagger that was placed in the pocket of her dress.
Just was they reached the carriage, Kara heard someone yell. She then saw one of the gaurds drop down in agony and red hot blood gushed from his chest. Her heart began to beat faster in her chest as only one thought came to her mind. "Mina". " I though i signaled her to just let me go" Kara thought angirly to herself. Now she had put both herself and Mina in danger. She barely had enough time to process what had happened when another dagger sailed by her ear, an inch away from Eriks face. Jace nodded to Erik, who seemed stunned, and the two took into the woods. Kara then knew that she had to act soon. Before she could think of the plan, a young gaurd with messy black hair grabbed his spear and began to cut Kara's rope. " What.." she whispered feverishly as he cut her free. She turned around and he held out his spear to her, offering only one word. "run"
Kara took the spear and bolted around the carriage into the woods. She could hear fighting, and saw several trees up in flames. Her heart beat quickened as adrenaline flowed through her veins. She followed the noises of trees breaking until she finally came to the fight. Jace had Mina pinned up against a tree, his dagger at her throat. Mina had just enough time to lock eyes with Kara until Jace sliced her throat, sending blood streaming down her chest. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head, and she slumped to the ground. Kara screamed. Erik, who was putting out fires at the moment, turned and looked at her. So did Jace. They both stood there just staring at her. Filled with rage, Kara took the spear and hurled it at Jace. It hit him solidly in the chest. locking itself where his heart should be. Erik chuckled to himseld, and continued putting out fires. Jace looked up at Kara, giving her a look of amusment. " Are you really that stupid" he said to her as he pulled the spear out, without a drop of blood being shed. " Does a ritual of immortality mean nothing to you". Kara just stood there stupidly. " You see" Jace began. " I needed a special type of blood. A type that no longer is alive here. Thats why I needed you to complete the ritual". " Because of you" he continued. " I can't die". Kara looked down at her arm, which was still in its torn bloody bandage. " You kidnapped me" she said looking straight at Erik. " We had too" Erik retorted. " Your blood is the only kind that can be use". " You didn't have to. You could have picked someone else" Kara replied. " You really are stupid" Erik said turning away. " I am not stupid!" Kara stammered, thinking of nothing else to say. Jace laughed, and came up behind her and grabbed her arms. " Now" he whispered into her ear. " If you choose to follow my rule, we won't have any issues here. If you don't, you'll end up like your pathetic friend over there. I can always find someone else for blood. Your not the only one you know. Theres always precious mommy". Kara could feel his lips curling up in a sinister smile. She shook his arms away, and began to walk to the carriage, accepting her fate with every step.
