Petra finally led Kara back to the main room of the castle where Casper had left her. It was lined with sculptures carved from the rocks, and a large fountain spouting water made from rock in the center of the room. "Well, I should to go home. I have to help my mother with dinner. See you soon!". With that Petra left the large room, leaving the heavy door to slam on the way out. Kara stood for a second, awkwardly waiting for someone to come up to her. A few minutes passed, and she quietly stepped foward. "Hello" she said to the large empty room. "Carson?" she said her voice trailing off as she looked up the staircase. "You called?" he said behind her, and Kara jumped. "Oh sorry, did I scare you?" he said jokingly. "Oh..umm....no....well...yes actually." Kara said awkwardly. An awkard silence passed. "So...." Carson said. "Let me show you where you'll be staying and stuff." Kara followed him up the stairs. He stopped at a door and said "Here's your room. You'll probably want to sleep since it's about 10:30. You can't really tell time since we're underground....so gooodnight". With a cheerful smile he walked out of the room.
Kara got dressed in pajamas that she found in a drawer. Her room, like the whole castle, was carved out of black rock. Her bed, dresser, tables, and mirrors were all carved out of rock. The whole room was enchanting. Kara quickly got into bed and closed her eyes. It had been a long day. She tried to sleep, but her mind kept drifting to her deal with Carson. "I just betray Erik.......and Jace." she thought. "They trusted me. We were such good friends until Jace went crazy. I shouldn't have flipped out. I should have forgiven him. It's too late. I can't back out. He would destroy me. I made a huge mistake" her stomach flipped causing a wave of panic and regret to wash over her. "I can't believe I was so driven by hate to do this" she thought, her mind going numb. The quick moment of regret passed, as she remembered how Jace had treated her towards the end. "I get to go home. See my mom. My friends. My old life. It's where I belong" she thought, as her heart hardended and turned to stone. "Who cares if people die along the way"
Erik
"Hello, you haven't seen a girl like..this tall with curly hair and green eyes?" Erik said desperatly, waving his hands around. "Can't say I have. What is she lost or something?". "Something like that.." Erik mutttered, walking away. It had taken a while to convince Jace that he was going to visit his ill sister a few towns away. Erik's sister was fine, and he had come here to search for Kara and bring her home. "Excuse me, have you seen a girl thats this tall with curly hair and green eyes?". "No sorry". So far no one had seen Kara. Erik was getting scared, Maybe she had never made it back to the town. Maybe she really had died out there in the woods, all alone with no one to protect her. Erik shuddered, and scanned the crowd for someone. Anyone. Anyone that could tell him where Kara had gone, or if she was still living.
Kara
Kara had woken up, dressed, and eaten breakfast all in her room. She opened her door and quickly slipped out of her room, not knowing where to go or what to do. "Kara!" a sweet voice behind her said. "Oh hey Petra" Kara said with a smile. "I don't really know where to go so.....". "Oh of course!" Petra said with a smile. "Right this way! Master Carson and Sorin were expecting you.". "Sorin?" Kara asked, a confused look on her face. All color left Petra's face, if that was even possible. "Come with me" she said briskly, all looks of warmth leaving her. Kara raised her eyebrows. "Ok......" she murmered, following Petra down the long dark hallway.
For a girl with such small legs, Kara could barely keep up with Petra. "Why are you walking so fast?" she said, struggling to keep up. Petra didn't answer. Kara rolled her eyes. "Where are we going?" she asked a few minutes later. No reply. "Ok are you just going to ignore me? Because yesterday you were so friendly and now your treating me like I don't even exist.". Petra stopped and turned around. "I'm sorry Kara....It's just I did something I wasn't supposed to do. Can you just forget everything I said back there? Please? My life depends on it". The girls eyes were now fillign with tears. Kara felt bad. "Oh...of course" she said awkwardly. "I'm sorry". "No, I should be sorry" Petra said with a weak smile. "We have to keep going though". This time, Petra and Kara walked together.
"Here is your stop" Petra said, folding her arms in front of her. "Here?" Kara asked, putting her handle on the dark marble door handle. "Yes" Petra said, smiling. "Well, I'll see you later!" Kara said as she opened the door and walked inside.
"Hello...?" Kara said, her back pressed against the door. It slammed behind her, leaving her in a room completely drenched in darkness. The door slammed behind her. "Is there anyone here..?" Kara said, her voice sounding small and weak. Shivers crept up her spine, a cold breeze swept through the room. Kara waited in silence for a minute, before grazing her hands against the wall, and slowly moving around the room. Finally, her hand brushed across what felt like a lightswitch. She fumbled and finally flicked it, and a large lamp on the ceiling of the room sputtered on. In the center of the room, was a large round table carved from marble. 7 matching chairs were seated around the table. In the center, was a large black marble bowl filed with what looked like black liquid. The rest of the room was bare, with only carved statues protruding from the walls. Kara looked around for a minute, and started to walk to the center of the room. She pulled out one of the chairs and sat down. A few minutes passed without any movement or noise. Kara stood up, and walked over to the large door. Suddenly, it opened up and hit Kara in the face. "Shit!" she yelled as she was knocked backwards onto the ground, her nose throbbing. Blood poured from her nose. "Kara! I'm so so sorry!" Carson exclamied as he ran over to her and helped her up. "God I am SO sorry! Let me fix this! I am so sorry!" he kept saying over and over again. "It's fine, is there an infirmary anywere around here?" Kara asked, trying to steady the flow of blood. "Infirmary? We don't need one of those?" Carson said, placing his hand over Kara's nose. "What.." Kara started but Carson placed his other hand over her mouth. He closed his eyes and spoke "Xatre Meztre A fulta don visaden". A feeling of warmth spread across Kara's face, and Carson removed his hands. "See? All fixed" he said with a smile. Kara gently touched her hand to her nose and felt no pain. All of her blood had dissapeared. Carson pushed past her and went to sit down. "I was just healed..." Kara thought with amazment. "Kara, come sit" Carson said from behind her. Kara turned around, and stepped to the table, dragging out a chair and sitting, still in shock.
