Part fourteen: Besties

Batcave

|When we got to the Batcave, I was glad that Babs was there with Alfred and Bruce. I wonder where Damian is?|

"The goons have their masks sewn on their faces? That's just cruel." Barbara muttered, typing into the Bat computer. Bruce stood behind the chair, looking at the screen. Alfred was preparing tea by the table and Stephanie went to help him.

Kara stood beside Bruce and told him and Barbara about her new discovery.

"There was this warehouse before that had a man named Dollmaker. He brainwashed kids and sewed doll faces on their faces." she explained.

"How did you know about that?" Bruce asked, turning to face Kara's figure. She folded her arms over her chest and replied, "Your son told me about it."

"Oh, so you and Damian are besties now?" Barbara asked with a small smirk, still looking at the screen. Kara rolled her eyes at her.

"No, we're not," she said. "No offense, Bruce."

"I get that alot," he replied with a faint smirk. Kara chuckled, looking back at the screen.

"Anyway, I think that this has something to do with the kidnappings happening in Gotham City recently." She said.

"You have a point there. More citizens get kidnap every night. Last night, actually. There were reports of six adults and seven kids missing." Bruce added, looking back at the screen as well. Kara nodded in agreement, knowing where Bruce was getting into.

"So, anything on the files?" She asked, changing the subject to satisfy her curiosity. Bruce nodded at her with a small smile.

"I didn't find the code, but they have another HQ in Tokyo. It's an underground HQ, so we can't risk going there with just you, me, and Damian," he said. "We might find the code there."

"Speaking of Damian, where is he?" Kara asked.

"He went to Jump City to visit the Teen Titans," Bruce answered. "Don't worry, he'll be home before you know it."

"That's reassuring, ain't that right, Kara?" Barbara teased.

|What is it with her and her constant teasing?|

"Uh, what?" She asked, totally confused. Barbara rolled her eyes and proceeded on typing into the conputer.

Kara sighed and walked towards the Batmobile, walking around it as she observed its features.

"What time are we going to patrol, exactly?" Katie asked, turning from Cassandra to Bruce.

"We'll be out in an hour once the citizens are fast asleep. The goons usually come out by that time." He replied, setting his hands on the panel. He started helping Barbara on her research, making it easier for the both of them.

Kara pressed a finger on the Batmobile's window and wiped it for a bit.

"Impressed?" Damian asked, standing behind her. She pulled her finger away from the vehicle and slowly turned around to look at the current Boy Wonder.

"I've seen other things," she said. "But, yes. I'm impressed."

Damian chuckled lightly and it echoed around the Batcave. Everyone jerked their head towards him in shock. The Damian Wayne just chuckled. And that was because of Kara Gordon, the girl he likes, but he doesn't realize it.

"I ship them," Stephanie whispered to Alfred.

The old man smiled and nodded in agreement as he watch Damian converse with the young Gordon.

"I sensed Master Damian's feelings for Miss Gordon since she first came here, Miss Stephanie. I'd be lying if I said that he sleeps with a frown since then." He said, his thick British accent evident in his voice.

|I thought he'd be in Jump City for a visit. How come he got back so fast?|

"I thought you're at Jump City? You know, helping your team of misfits and whatnot." Kara said, leaning against the Batmobile with her arms folded over her chest.

"Is that your way of saying "I missed you while you were gone", Gordon?" Damian asked with a smug smirk. Kara rolled her eyes at the Boy Wonder's ridiculous thought.

"You wish, Wayne." She scoffed, returning to the shielded side of hers. Damian dropped his smirk and gave her a small smile.

"About earlier back at the library," he said. "I really meant it when I said I'll be there for you."

"I know," Kara smiled. Barbara swtiched the screen to Gotham News.

This is Maya Divers live in Gotham City Police Department. Commissioner Jim Gordon recently announced that there are "goons" kidnapping and murdering citizens every night by this hour. We would advice you to please lock your doors and windows and keep your children safe.

"Everyone, suit up. It's time for patrol." Bruce ordered, turning to face them. They all nodded and separated ways to wear their uniforms.
