Part fifty-eight: Again
Wayne Manor
Barbara rushed inside the dining room, a horrified look on her face. Dick was the first to notice and quickly silenced everyone by lifting a hand up. Barbara thanked him through her eyes and composed herself once more.
"Kara's gone," she said.
Everyone's eyes widened at the announcement. Jim, being the most affected, immediately stood up and ran up the stairs to look into her room. Barbara looked at Damian with a frown as she ball her hands into fists.
All of them are standing, surrounding Barbara by the door frame. Bruce went to help Jim, leaving Selena to supervise them all.
"When I went to check on her, she wouldn't answer the door. I knocked louder and harder, but nothing happened. So I picked the lock and barged in only to see her gone. The balcony doors were wide open." She explained.
"Alright," Selena nodded. "Kara wouldn't disappear without telling at least one of you guys. My best guess would be that she was kidnapped or she--"
"Please don't tell me she killed herself." Jason said.
"What? Well, yeah. That's my other guess. But that would be impossible. Kara's body acts instinctively even when she tries to kill herself. If she tried to jump, she'd do something to prevent it without even knowing doing it." She said.
"Then we have to find her, again." Tim said.
"Why is it always her? I mean, why not someone from us? Not that I want that, but there has to be an explanation as to why they want Kara and Kara only." Dick said.
"I agree with Dick." Stephanie said.
Cass nodded in agreement, folding her arms over her chest. She tilted her heard to the left and noticed Damian as quiet as a snake. His eyes were on the ground and it didn't take a genius to know that he was deep in thought.
"Why don't we check the room first?" She suggested.
"Good idea," Selena nodded.
But just when they were about to head to her room, Jim and Bruce appeared in front of Selena, who was leading the others. But Bruce was on his uniform and Commissioner Gordon had his talkie on his hand.
"Suit up," Batman said.
Why does this always happen to me?
Kara sat on a metal chair, wrists and ankles binded by chains. Her hair was messy, eyes are red, and cuts on her cheek.
My arms and legs were in the process of healing, but then this bozo came and ruined everything. Why did I ever think of fighting him alone when he already beat me before?
She lifted her head up to see Heretic staring down at her, mask off. He looked just like Damian, but older and more developed. But he had a scar over his right eye. The one Kara gave him on their previous encounter.
"What do you want? An autograph? If that's so, then I need to get these chains off." She said sarcastically.
"Sarcasm will never get you out of this, Gordon." He said.
"Like I ever thought it will. I mean, seriously? Sarcasm? Are you joking?" She asked.
Now I regret wishing that I can lock myself up. I don't want to be a prisoner of someone else.
Heretic ignored her and walked out of the white room, leaving her in the middle of it with nothing but an uncomfortable seat and chains.
I just went to clear my off for a bit, then BOOM! I'm back in this dreaded place.
Are you okay, Kara? No. Will you be okay, Kara? No. Do you need someone to be okay, Kara? Yes. Who? Secret.
She looked around the room, trying to find at least something near her to help her escape. But the room was completely empty. She's all alone.
Again.
