Part sixty-one: Complicated

Slaughter Castle, Throne Room

Kara threw league of assassin stars towards the other assassins, unsheathing her sword as Robin jump down the candelabra. He started fighting other assassins, swiftly knocking them off with his katana. Batman and the others emerged from the shadows and helped the fifth Robin.

Yay, help. Again.

Sighing, Kara blocked Robin's sword with her own and pushed him off. He stared at her in bewilderment, blinking several times.

"Good to see you, too." Kara rolled her eyes.

"Gordon?" He asked.

"Who else would it be?" She asked back.

Robin shook his head, hiding a smile as he kick an assassin heading his way. They stood back-to-back, fighting off over a hundred assassins.

"Do you know why you always get into trouble like this?" Robin asked.

"Oh, I know why." Kara laughed.

"It's because of your stubborness, Gordon. You think you can handle it on your own when you cannot. You're turning into my father." Robin scowled.

Kara ducked, letting Robin swing his sword towards the assassins in front of Kara. She swiped at his feet and knocked him over, elbowing another assassin making their way towards Robin.

"And your point is?" She asked.

"You shouldn't be like him. He's an adult, you're a teen. There's a big difference when it comes to experience, Gordon. And besides, he gets help when he really needs to, but you? Go--"

"Language," Kara butted in.

"---knows what you do to kill yourself." He finished.

Rolling her eyes, Kara knocked another assassin off using the hilt of her sword. She can see Oracle and Nightwing fighting assassins like a real duo.

They look like they were dancing. It was amazing, actually.

Robin bent backwards, dodging an assassin's sword as Kara clash her own with his. She knocked the assassin off its feet and elbowed the assassin behind her with excellent speed.

"For your information, I'm not commiting suicide." She sassed.

"Well, your actions say otherwise!" Robin retorted.

"Oh, does it?"

"Yes, it does."

"At least I get information that could probably help save the world."

"It's all about the world, isn't it? Not your life, your safety, you--"

"Yes, it is about the world. One life is better than the death of all, Robin. You should know that."

Robin scoffed, grabbing Kara's wrist. He led her out of the castle along with Oracle and the others.

And here goes the lecture.

"Do you have any idea how worried I was? I'm your father, Kara Mellani Natasha Gordon! You are my responsibility and you cannot go disappearing into some weird castle with Talia Al Ghul in it!" Jim scolded.

"Natasha?" Tim whispered.

Kara sat on one of the hospital beds with Alfred wrapping a bandage around her left arm. She sighed, combing her hair back with her free arm.

"Dad, look. I can explain if you just let m--"

"No, Kara. This is beyond explanation. You never even told me that you're the new Batgirl!" Jim yelled.

He pointed to the glass display where her uniform was. Kara followed his finger with her eyes and bit her bottom lip nervously.

"Yeah, about that." She muttered.

"I've had enough of this. First, it was Barbara keeping secrets. Now it's you. Do you want to end up in a wheelchair, too!?" Jim fumed.

"If you--"

"No! You will stop this Batgirl non-sense and live as normal as you can. Go to school, do your homework, everything a normal kid does!"

"If you would just let me explain, then you won't have to be so mad!" Kara yelled loudly.

The cave went silent. Everyone stopped whatever they were doing and averted their attention to the two Gordons.

"I wanted this! I needed this! It was the only thing that keeps me sane in this stupid trash for a world! Have you ever noticed how I cried myself to sleep every single night!? Have you ever thought of the kids at school, throwing whatever they can throw at me, bullying me in any way possible? The reason I did this, to be Batgirl, is because I wanted to help! I wanted to help Barbara, I wanted to help victims, I wanted to help Bruce, I wanted to help you! Every night, you come home complaining about how hard your job can be and that you wish you could just disappear. Do you really think I want that!? No! What the heck, dad!? I taught myself how to fight, got into so many trouble, got tortured, just for you! And you never even realized that." She said.

She pulled her arm away from Alfred and hopped off the bed, tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear.

"You never even realized how much I've sacrificed for you." She muttered.

She ran up the stairs to the manor and disappeared in an instant, leaving Jim there with wide eyes.

I'm an idiot.
