Part sixty-three: A father's love
Wayne Manor, Living Room
After a few hours of Damian comforting Kara, he finally convinced her to talk to her father like a civilized person. Which brought her here now, sitting on one of the most comfortable couches in the living room with her father sitting across from her.
"Look, dad. I'm so sorry for keeping so many things from you. And about that Batgirl thing, don't blame Bruce or any of them. I did it for Barbara. They needed my help, and I needed theirs. I know it was selfish of me to--"
"No, Kara. I understand. You needed this. But you could've at least talked to me about it." He said.
"Yeah, I realize that now." She muttered.
I seriously hate heart-to-heart conversations, but it's my only chance of having my father back.
And I know that I can't live without him.
"If you want to me stop being Batgirl, say it now. But please, let me help them figure this out. I have a lead." She pleaded.
Jim stared at her daughter, noticing the desperate look in her eyes. He knew the consequences to this, but it is the only way.
"I'll let you stay as Batgirl," he decided. "But promise me that you won't keep any more secrets from now on."
Kara's head shot up, a surprised look on her face.
Is this legit?
"I....I promise," she smiled.
"Aw, come on. Bring it on here, kiddo." Jim laughed.
Kara laughed along and stood up, hugging her father tightly.
And just like that, I have him back.
"The grandmaster placed soldiers in every city where a Justice League member lives. Gotham, Central, Star, and more. We have no choice but to tell them all and prepare ourselves." Kara said.
She stood in front of everyone, a picture of weird-looking robots flashing on the Batcomputer behind her.
"This grandmaster's got game." Katie said.
"Bruce will be informing the League members and they will only have a maximum of one month to prepare themselves." Kara announced.
Everyone stayed silent, taking in all of the information Kara is giving them. After a few minutes, someone broke it.
"Who is the grandmaster?" Jason asked.
Kara turned around and typed something into thr computer that made a picture of a man wearing a Court of Owls mask display on the computer screen.
"None other than Samantha Vanaver's daughter, Elizabeth Vanaver."
"How do you know it's her?" Dick asked.
"She was a friend of mine back at grade school. And she told me everything that has happened in and out of the Court of Owls. But when her mother was killed, she became distant and dark and cold-blooded." Kara answered.
She turned around to face them and placed her hands on her hips.
"Riley and I have been having rooftop meetings lately," she said. "And she described the grandmaster to me. Blonde, chocolate eyes, fourteen years old, and a high-pitched voice. She even got me a blood sample of her, and I ran some tests in it."
"Are you sure you're still sane?" Tim asked.
"Honestly, I don't know myself." Kara laughed.
Damian hid a chuckle, folding his arms over his chest as he smirk at the young Gordon. She met his gaze and smirked back.
"We still have to find their main headquarters. Where Elizabeth is. Riley, Louise, and Christine will be helping me, so don't worry much about it." She said.
"Then what are we supposed to do?" Stephanie asked.
"It's simple," Kara shrugged. "You prepare for war."
