Part fifty-one: Wake Up
Batcave
Batgirl passed out just when Robin got her out of the facility. Right now, she laying on one of the many beds in the infirmary and Damian sat on a chair beside her bed wearing his grey hoodie and black basketball shorts. His hair was messy and eyes tired.
"You have no idea how worried you make me whenever I know you're not safe." He muttered.
His hand was holding her pale ones, afraid of letting her go and slip away from him again. He didn't notice Selena walk in the infirmary and see him holding her hand.
"You just.......make me feel weird. How can you do it?" He mumbled.
Selena leaned against the wall and listened to his words. The thought of Damian loving someone so much makes her heart melt. He's like a little Bruce, minus the playboy part.
"Please, just wake up and make me feel better already. I can't.......I can't stand seeing you like this, Kara." He said.
Selena smiled softly and walked over as qiietly as she can. Surpisingly, Damian didn't notice her presence and kept on looking down at Kara's fragiel figure. Her peaceful face made him wonder how she can be so intimidating when she's awake.
Just like he expected, she's different from any other girls he'd seen. She was unique in his eyes. She made him feel weak. He started doubting that he's the strongest because of that. Kara Gordon is his weakness and he can't deny that.
He suddenly felt someone holding both of his shoulders and sighed, knowing exactly who was holding him.
"You heard me, didn't you?" He asked.
Selena smiled down at him and rubbed her thumbs on his shoulders. She looked at Kara and noticed her face starting to have some color.
"She's beautiful, Damian," she said. "I can see why you're so into her."
Damian chuckled at her comment and nodded. He rubbed his thumb in a circular pattern on Kara's and bit his lip.
"You'll love her, mother. She's.....amazing and so different, unique." He said.
"I can tell," Selena grinned. "When's the wedding?"
"We're not even dating." Damian rolled his eyes.
"By the looks of it, you won't be saying that soon."
"Like that would happen,"
"Wanna bet?"
"If you want to lose,"
Selena scoffed and combed her hair back. She pulled a chair form behind and set it besude Damian, sitting down on it. She looked at Kara and smiled a bit.
"You two look so cute, you know? Even though you two are completely different, you got each other's backs." She said.
"That's because we're partners." Damian said.
"What kind of partners, exactly?" Selena smirked.
Damian playfully glared at her and rested his elbow on the edge of the bed. He set his chin down in his palm and looked at Kara's unmoving body.
"Probably-not-what-you're-thinking kind of partners." He said.
Selena snorted at his reply and rolled her eyes.
A few hours have passed since they got Kara back home, but she's still not moving. Alfred reassured Damian that she's just over-fatigued, but he couldn't help but worry for her sake.
|Should I wake up? Maybe, I should. But I don't want to face Damian's wrath. He's mean.|
"I'm gonna go get some sleep. You should go too, Damian." Selena said.
Damian shook his head and rested his head on his folded arms on the bed.
"I'll watch over her." He muttered.
"Damian, if you want, I can watch over her." Selena offered.
"No," he sighed. "I'll be fine. Just go get some sleep."
"Okay, but don't hesitate to call me when you want to sleep. I can watch over her for the rest of the night." She said.
"Thank you, mother." Damuan smiled.
Selena smiled back and walked out of the infirmary, gently closing the door. Damian turned to look at Kara again and bit his lip.
"Please wake up," he mumbled.
