Part twenty-three: Capes And Cowls
Tokyo City Central Mall
As Kara wait for Damian outside the jewellery store, she sipped on the caramel shake Damian bought for her for the second time. She looked around the mall, watching as Japanese people walk pass her while talking or laughing.
|If only Gotham could be that beautiful. Well, every city is beautiful in its own way.|
One person in particular caught her eye. It was the man in the black coat again. He was leaning against the glass wall a few feet away from her.
"Damian," she groaned. She walked inside the jewellery store and saw Damian who just finished talking to the sales lady.
"You done?" She asked. Damian instantly tensed up and hid a piece of paper behind him.
"Y-yeah, I'll come back for it later tonight." He said. Kara smiled, waving the shopping bags she was holding by her other hand.
"Good," she said. "Something tells me that we should head back."
"Of course," Damian replied. "Let's get going."
He grabbed the shopping bags he dropped earlier and they both walked out of the store. Kara sipped on her shake, cautiously looking around for the fedora man.
"What's wrong?" Damian asked when he saw the look on her face. She shook her head, smiling a bit.
"Nothing," she said. "Just looking out for the stalker."
Damian chuckled at her choice of words and pulled her close to him.
"Just stay close," he whispered. "We'll be fine."
|It's official. This is not Damian Wayne. He went to the jewellery store in a mall! I'm gonna talk to Babs later.|
Kara's phone rang, vibrating in her pocket. She slipped the shopping bags to her elbow and grabbed her phone, answering the call without looking at the caller ID.
"Hello?"
"Hey, sis. How are you?"
"I'm fine, Babs. I just got out of the hotel for a few things."
"Are you with someone? I'm pretty sure there's a whole lot of people wherever you are."
"Uhh, no. I'm not with anyone. Anyway, I need to go back to the hotel."
"Alright, see you there later. Love you, sis."
"Yeah, love you, too."
Kara ended the call, dropping her smile. She shoved it back in her pocket and sighed.
"Not with anyone? Then what am I?" Damian asked, lifting an eyebrow.
"Once Babs finds out that we spent the afternoon together, she'll think that we went on a date or something that a couple does. Her brain can be so challenging." She sighed, combing her hair back with her free hand. Damian nodded, heading for the exit. Kara followed him, still looking around for the fedora man.
