Part fifty: Someone To Save Me
Batcave
"Cyborg volunteered to provide us transportation to Mount Apo where Batgirl was held captured by Talia. Robin, Catwoman, and I will go save Batgirl. The rest of you will be patrolling Gotham tonight. Remember, always keep in touch with Oracle." Batman said.
He and Selena put their cowls on and Robin pulled his hood up. The rest of the Bat Family obliged at Batman's orders and went on their separate cycles, except for one. Batman looked at Oracle who was putting her own cowl on.
"I'm going, too." She said.
"Barbara, we underst--"
"No, you don't! She's my little sister, Bruce! I can't just roam around Gotham like she's not in some torture room with Talia al Ghul!" Oracle yelled.
Robin looked up at Batman and sighed.
"She's right," he said. "I can't do that either."
"Alright, then. Let's get going." Batman said.
"She needs to have her beauty sleep if she's going to homecoming tomorrow." Catwoman smirked.
Well, I certainly won't be some damsel in distress here. I need to break out on my own.
Batgirl's body was numb, but she knew she had to move. She leaned her head against her left hand and grabbed the hidden bobby pin on her hair. Grunting, she started unlocking the shackles on her left wrist. After unlocking the first one, she moved on to her other wrist.
"Stupid brain you just can't obey Damian's orders, can you?" She mumbled.
One she's free from the shackles, she dropped to the floor and panted heavily. She needed rest, but she can't rest in a building full of assassins and torture devices. Slowly, she stood up from the floor and walked towards the heavy metal door across from her.
"Oh, come on! I'll do it myself!"
She can hear someone on the other side of the door, but she was sure that it wasn't Talia or Heretic. That made her sigh in relief.
The door suddenly opened and the assassin was met by Batgirl's weak fist. The punch was hard and made the assassin fall on top of the one behind him, but it hurt Batgirl's hand. She hissed and dug her heel on the assassin's stomach. She grabbed a hidden sleeping pellet on her boot and drop it on the assassins, quickly running away from them. Her utility belt was with Talia, she's defenseless.
She ran around the facility, not even letting the CCTV cameras spot her. Her mind was memorizing the whole place and analyzing where the exit was. For a place as big as this, there'd only one exit.
Can Tali be any more complex? Honestly, she exaggerates on these things.
The alarm suddenly blared and red lights replaced the warm color Batgirl's eyes were familiar on. She wuickly turned left and pressed herself against the wall. Assassins ran past her with swords and guns in hand.
"Shoot," she mumbled.
Just when she was thinking about her getting caught, she heard one of the assassins ordering someone to look for Catwoman. Okay, she was not expecting that.
Why in the world would Catwoman be here? Is she a part of this grand master thing, too?
She couldn't be any more confused, but she was glad that she wasn't caught. She set her mind to gettingout of he facility again and grabbed a dropped sword by the hallway. She ran as fast as she could, looking for the exit or at least, her belt.
Someone suddenly grabbed her shoulders and yanked her towards a corridor, pushing her against the wall. She went to swing the sword, but the person grabbed it away from her and put a hand over her mouth. Seeing the familiar green mask and hood, she sighed in relief and lowered her guard.
"Shh," he shushed.
A few more assassins passed by and as soon as they're gone, Robin released a breath he didn't notice he was holding and hugged Batgirl gently. She weakly hugged back, resting her head on his shoulder.
"You're alright," he whispered.
"You're dang right I'm fine. I'm not some kind of princess hoping for some prince charming to come rescue me." She scoffed.
Robin chuckled at how feisty she can be and slowly pulled away from the hug. His arms were still wrapped around her waist as he looked into her eyes.
"Let's get you out of here." He whispered.
He quickly led her to the exit, not even letting her respond.
I may be able take care of myself. But one thing I know is that no matter how strong I can be, someone will always be out there to save me.
