Only trusting James

The Payne twins had always been close, James, however, had always been protective over his younger twin brother Liam. Even more so after the accident, Liam had always been the slower twin, he didn't walk until he was around 5, didn't talk until he was 8 and never really left his brothers side. 

When the twins were around 6 years old, their mother passed away from battling Leukaemia, it caused Liam to become very enclosed and only spoke to his older twin brother. After that the boy's father became aggressive, always abusing them, from no food to physical. As Liam was the smaller boy he was given the most grief which caused him to become even more enclosed and afraid of the world around him. He only trusted James and no one else.

When the twins turned 12, they were in a fatal car accident on the way home from school, their father had decided to drink and drive. Their father, well he was killed instantly, whereas James was lucky to only get out with a broken arm and a broken nose. Liam, however, lost his right leg, broke his left arm and smashed his face so bad that they are still there now, six years later. 

"Liam come on babe" James shouted upstairs 

"Coming J" a small voice shouted back before a bump was heard as well as a cry making James run up the stairs to find Liam on the floor with a cut on his forehead 

"Oh baby, did you fall?" James cooed knowing he had to talk softly to his brother 

"Off the bed" Liam whimpered crying out as James started to clean up his forehead 

"It's ok Li, there we go baby" James whispered softly lifting his tiny brother onto his hip before walking down the stairs to the car and driving towards the party they needed to get to

"Niall and Loui gonna be there?" Liam asked as he was placed in the car seat made especially for him

"Yea babe, and Zayn, remember him?" James asked talking about the newest boy in the relationship

"Yea covered in tattoos," Liam said as he got comfortable in the car

"You can sleep baby, we have an hour drive," James said as he started the car

"Love you," Liam said as he fell asleep

As James drove towards the party he thought about how much the life of his brother had changed, the boy could no longer look after himself, he was in nappies full time and he was afraid of everyone. Only trusting James. 

Liam was an amazing little boy, with a very quirky attitude, he was always so nervous around people who he didn't know. James was worried about how he would cope tonight as he only knew four other people there. As James parked a small whimper made him look towards his twin to see the boy whimpering in his sleep. 

Getting out the car quickly, James ran over to the other side of the car, opening the door and quickly unbuckling Liam's seatbelt and rubbing the boy's stomach, a way that his mother had done whenever Liam was ill. Soon Liam woke up but as soon as he was he burst into tears and made grabby hands for his brother.

"Calm down baby" James whispered softly as he cuddled the distraught boy

"Want inside" Liam whispered 

"Ok baby, let's go," James said as he allowed the boy down so he could walk himself 

"I knock?" Liam asked as they approached the front door

"Ring the door baby, they won't hear a knock" James said as he lifted Liam up so he could reach the doorbell

"Ok" Liam said giggling as he pressed the bell twice, the door was soon opened by a tall boy who Liam didn't recognise 

"Hey Ty" James said walking in with Liam trailing behind him nervously

"Who's the little one?" Ty asked not knwoning that his best mate had any siblins or children

"My twin brother, say hi Li" James said pushing the boy forward

"Hi" Liam whispered quietly 

"Well aren't you a little cutie?" Ty said as he let the twins in

"Can you look after him for a few minutes, I need the toilet" James said as he handed Liam over to Ty

"No James" Liam cried out trying to get to his brother 

"Liam stay with Ty, I'll be fifteen minutes" James said kissing a now crying Liams head

"Come on kiddo, let's find something for you to drink and eat" Ty said as he carried the still crying boy into the busy kitchen

"Too loud" Liam whimpered feeling comfortable in Ty's arms

"Want to wear my headphones baby?" Ty asked feeling the boy nod 

"Please" Liam said as he gently kissed Ty's neck as a thank you

"Here you go babe, shall we go find some friends?" Ty said kissing Liam's forehead 

"But they won't like me" Liam whispered as Ty walked towards a group of boys who were all sitting round a table

"I'll think you'll find they will love you" Ty said as he sat down with Liam on his lap

"Hi Ty, I see you've met Liam" a voice that Liam recognised 

"NIALL" Liam squealed as he tried to get to him from where Ty was holding him

"Hey babe, stay with Ty a minute honey" Niall chuckled as he stood up and picked up Liam who instantly cuddled into Niall

"Where James, Zayn and Louis?" Liam asked before he sneezed

"They've gone to get your bags and that" Niall said bringing a tissue out of his back pocket and wiping Liams nose gently 

"No Ni, nose hurts" Liam said moving his head to miss the tissue
