We walked hand in hand through the entrance of the restaurant. It was outside and we were lucky it was a warm night. I looked up at Isaac his eyes focused on the scenery, his eyes sparkled against the moonlight. His warm hand touched mine and squeezed it gently. A waitress with black hair tied up in a bun came to us, putting her posh note book and pen in her pouch and smiled at us.
"Table for two," Isaac gazed down at me.
"Right this way," the waitress didn't stop smiling and led us to a table at the back with a view of horizon. "Your table," she placed two menus out in front of the facing chairs and gestured to them. Isaac came round to my seat and pulled it out. My cheeks began to blush and my palms began sweat. I formed my hand into a thumbs up and took a seat. As I pulled my chair under I smiled nervously instantly regretting my actions, Isaac giving a confused smile at the floor. The waitress trying to move swiftly past my bad choice by continuing, "give me a shout when you have decided." She smiled and backed away from our table. I put my hands on the cold wooden surface, my hands fumbling together while my shoulders were high on my back. My then small pupils focussed on the candles in the centre of the round table joined by a single rose in a clear though vase. "Hey," Isaac reached over and placed his hand over mine and squeezed it gently ",We all get nervous on our first dates." I knew he was trying to calm me but I felt so trapped. I felt like the everyone was pressuring me to make it perfect date. Isaac squeezed my hand again and tried to find my eyes. All my negative feelings drifted away because I didn't have to try to make it perfect, because it already was. I nodded and squeezed back.
"So," I started both me and him gently pulled our hands back to ourselves ",the pizza's sound good." I made Isaac snigger. I wasn't the kind of girl to order a salad. They are nice but not my cup of tea.
"I love you," Isaac smiled at me.
"I know!" I quoted Han Solo from Star Wars.
"You are such a fan girl."
"Correct," I laughed. The waitress came and collected our orders. My worries had disappeared. I felt like I was out with Isaac for the first time at Starbucks and he gave me the worlds most beautiful group of butterflies. When I never spoke that much because I felt like I would mess up. When my cheeks would blush like red roses. The way I feel when he kisses me.
Besides the point, I had the best pizza. But the reason why it made it the best was because I got to share it with Isaac.
"Again! We need to get this right," I heard a familiar voice shout. It was the next day from mine and Isaac's first official date. I admit, it was magical. The restaurant had put fairy lights everywhere and beautiful scented candles. And as I had just a few glasses of wine, I slept in that night I got in. It was rehearsals for 'Peter Pan' and I was supposed to be there at 9:30am but instead I turned up at 11:04am. Even as I woke up Isaac had left me in bed and not tried to wake me, that I knew of. "Harriette, what are you doing? You're acting in an awkward I pushed open the theatre doors to find Harriette clutching onto John and Michael's hand. Riley was stood in front of the stage with her hands on her hips and Isaac in John's small bed fast asleep. "Riley, What's going on?" I shouted down to her, Isaac opened his eyes as fast as he downed his only drink the night before.
"Well hello, Leora," she said smugly ",I thought I would take over as you were late."
"Sorry. I was out with Isaac last night," her fists clenched. I knew that would make her mad. I looked at Isaac, his smile so bright, happy to see me. I walked past Riley and everyone to get to him. I ran towards him and he picked me up so my legs were bent and I wrapped my hands around his neck.
"Ugh!" I heard Riley. Once I got back to my normal state, I looked her in the eye and walked straight up to her.
"I am the director. So please, step aside and act as that is what you signed up for," I felt so proud of myself. I could tell what everyone else's reaction was or even if they heard me. I was so close to Riley if I stepped once more our nose's would touch. She backed away a bit shocked. I smelt a familiar perfume.
"I'm so proud of you and." Ivy was jumping up and down ",how did the date go? I tried to talk to Isaac but I thought I would let him sleep. What time did you even go to bed last night?"
"Jeez Dad! 1. Thanks! 2. Amazing! 3. Around 4am.." I mumbled the last part.
"4am?!" She gasped. Isaac once again woke up in shock ",Leora, were you and Isaac watching YouTube again? I don't mind you two watching YouTube but not that late!" Now Ivy was shocked. She covered her mouth, her eyebrows slanted because of her expression. "I am turning into your dad!" She walked away still shocked because of her telling of session.
"Take it from the top, guys!" I clapped scaring Riley once again. I walked up the steps and took a seat as everyone got into position.
"Well done," I heard Cameron say.
"Aren't you supposed to be in class?" I questioned as he stepped down onto my row and took a seat.
"I'm not a goody two shoes. At first I thought you was but that obviously showed me you aren't. Is that your 'Dark Betty' side?" He laughed. I nodded and laughed.
Hey!
I'm sorry ahaha!
I've been away for so long! Thinking about ending I Used To Wonder. It will be so hard to leave Leora, Isaac, Ivy, Levi and all the other characters. I will always remember how happy I have felt writing these two books. I love you and thank you. Don't worry, it's not quite the end yet.
